Synopsis
In a world governed by ancient traditions and ruthless power, Alina Grey has always been the outcast of her pack. Rejected for her perceived weakness and haunted by the painful memories of her father’s death, she is shunned by her people and forced to live in the shadows of the strong. Her pack’s Alpha, Lukas Blackthorn, the one she thought would be her mate, crushes her hopes when he chooses another, Celine, as his partner. Heartbroken and abandoned, Alina’s future looks bleak. However, when her estranged Aunt Maeve, a legendary warrior exiled years ago, returns to the pack, Alina is offered a chance at redemption. Maeve begins training Alina, pushing her to the edge of her limits, both physically and emotionally. Through their brutal sessions, Alina discovers that she possesses far more strength than anyone had ever realized. She starts to unlock hidden powers connected to her family’s legacy, something her late father, Gregor Grey, had once tried to teach her. As Alina grows stronger, she faces new challenges. Not only does she have to battle the internal scars left by her rejection, but she also becomes entangled in a dangerous love triangle. Ronan, a mysterious stranger from a rival pack, enters her life, complicating her emotions and threatening to upend everything she thought she knew about loyalty, love, and destiny. At the same time, Lukas begins to notice the changes in Alina, sparking tensions within the pack and igniting old feelings that never truly died. With secrets about her past beginning to surface and her powers intensifying, Alina is thrust into a dangerous game of survival. As enemies close in from all sides, and her pack teeters on the edge of war, she must decide where her true loyalties lie and whether to embrace the destiny that her father had always seen in her. But in a world where trust is fragile and betrayal lurks around every corner, Alina quickly learns that becoming strong is only half the battle. Surviving in a world that seeks to break her might require more than just strength—it might demand a bond forged in blood, betrayal, and the unbreakable power of the moon. Lunar Bonds is a gripping tale of love, betrayal, self-discovery, and the fight for acceptance in a world where only the strong survive.

Chapter 1 - Alina's Isolation

"Alina! Can you hurry up already?"

Rina's voice broke the quiet of the early morning, her tone carrying both impatience and concern. Alina flinched but didn't answer right away. She tugged her old, worn-out jacket tighter around her thin frame, gazing out at the forest beyond the small, decrepit house she shared with her mother. The morning mist still clung to the trees, and the air had a biting chill to it. It was the same as every morning—quiet, cold, and filled with a suffocating sense of loneliness.

"Alina!"

With a deep breath, she turned away from the window, brushing a strand of her wild, unkempt brown hair out of her face. "I'm coming," she muttered, though she doubted Rina could hear her from outside. Her friend always meant well, but Alina could sense the pity in her eyes. The same pity everyone in the pack felt toward her—if they even thought of her at all.

She stepped outside, her boots sinking into the damp earth as Rina stood waiting. "You're going to be late again," Rina said, her arms crossed as she gave Alina a look. "You know the others are going to start if you don't hurry."

Alina bit back a bitter smile. It wasn't like anyone cared if she showed up late—or at all. She wasn't important to the pack anymore. Not since her father died. Not since the pack had pushed her aside, treating her as if she were nothing more than an afterthought. But she kept that thought to herself. Rina was one of the few people who still bothered to talk to her, and Alina didn't want to push her away too.

"Let's just go," Alina said, walking ahead to avoid further conversation. Rina sighed but fell into step beside her.

As they made their way through the woods, Alina's thoughts drifted to her pack—the Silver Moon Pack—and the weight of her isolation grew heavier with each step. Once, she had been part of the heart of the pack. Her father, Gregor Grey, had been the pack's beta, respected and admired by all. And as his daughter, she had held a place of honor. But that had changed the day her father was killed. The day everything fell apart.

The whispers had started almost immediately. Rumors. Blame. And just like that, her family had become outcasts. Her mother, Lila, was too sick to fight back, too frail to argue against the pack's coldness. Alina had tried to hold on, tried to prove that she still belonged, but it didn't matter. The pack had made up their minds.

And now, she was nothing. Invisible. Forgotten.

When they arrived at the training grounds, Alina hung back, as usual. She knew her place, and it wasn't among the warriors who were sparring and practicing under the watchful eyes of the pack elders. Her heart sank as she spotted Lukas at the center of the group, effortlessly leading the drills. His golden hair caught the sunlight, and his commanding presence drew everyone's attention. He looked every bit the future Alpha, strong and confident.

Alina's chest tightened. Lukas. The one person she had once thought might care about her. They had grown up together, and for a long time, she had believed they shared a special bond. But that had all changed the moment he rejected her. Cold. Unfeeling. He had barely looked at her when he told her she wasn't worthy to be his mate.

She tried not to look at him now, tried not to let the old wounds open again. But it was hard. Lukas was everything she had once dreamed of. He was everything she had lost.

"Alina, you're zoning out again." Rina nudged her, pulling her back to the present.

"Sorry," Alina mumbled, forcing a weak smile. She didn't have the energy to pretend that she cared about training or sparring. It wasn't as if she was allowed to participate, anyway. The elders had made it clear that her family's disgrace meant she wasn't worthy of joining the warriors. Not that she could blame them. She wasn't strong. She wasn't important.

She was just Alina, the forgotten daughter of a disgraced family.

Rina gave her a sympathetic look, but before she could say anything, the sharp voice of one of the elders rang out. "Everyone, gather around! We're about to begin!"

Alina lingered at the back as the pack members moved closer to where Lukas and the elders stood. She could feel the stares, hear the whispers. They never said anything to her face, of course. That would require acknowledging her existence. But the whispers were always there, just at the edge of her hearing. "That's the Grey girl. Didn't her father betray the pack?"

Her hands clenched into fists, her nails digging into her palms. She wanted to scream, to tell them that her father had never betrayed anyone. But it wouldn't matter. The pack had already made up their minds. They didn't care about the truth.

Lukas stepped forward, his voice commanding as he addressed the pack. "Today, we're focusing on defense tactics. Pair up and be ready."

Alina watched as the others moved to form pairs, laughing and talking as they prepared for the drills. No one approached her, of course. They never did. She stood on the outskirts, her heart heavy with the familiar ache of rejection.

"Alina."

The sound of her name startled her, and she turned to see Rina standing next to her, offering a small, awkward smile. "Come on. We can pair up."

Alina's heart warmed slightly at the offer, though the familiar sting of pity lingered behind it. "Thanks," she said softly, falling into step with her friend.

They worked through the drills in silence, Rina's movements smooth and practiced while Alina struggled to keep up. Her mind wasn't in it. How could it be, when every glance, every whisper from the others reminded her of how far she had fallen? She was nothing more than a shadow in the pack, a ghost haunting the edges of their world.

As the session wore on, Alina's insecurities gnawed at her, the weight of her rejection pressing down on her like a suffocating blanket. She wasn't strong like Rina. She wasn't respected like Lukas. She was just… weak. Invisible. And no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake the feeling that she didn't belong here. Not anymore.

When the training session finally ended, Alina slipped away before Rina could stop her, retreating into the forest. The towering trees and the soft rustle of leaves were the only things that gave her comfort. Here, away from the pack, she could pretend—if only for a moment—that she wasn't so alone.

But deep down, she knew the truth. No matter how far she ran, no matter how hard she tried to escape it, the reality of her isolation would always be there, waiting for her. Because in the end, she was nothing more than an outcast. A nobody.

And that would never change.
