Chapter 8 - Endless Lost{dark web}

**_Mira had been haunted by the same dream for as long as she could remember. In the dream, she found herself enveloped in darkness, a solitary dim light flickering just ahead. The light seemed to beckon her, promising safety and comfort. Every time, just as she reached out, a strong yet unseen presence would try to save her—a man whose face remained hidden in the shadows. The dream always ended the same way, leaving her with a lingering sense of longing and mystery.

Now, after the unexpected kiss from Nicholas, the dream resurfaced, more vivid than ever. The feeling of being on the edge of discovery, yet never quite reaching it, mirrored her confusion and curiosity about Nicholas. She couldn't shake the feeling that there was a connection between her dream and her waking life, and it left her both intrigued and unsettled.

she hears knock on the door it was Lina. Ma'am this came in for you. Lina was holding a flower and a gift bag. from who she asked? the receptionist downstairs called me to come pick up a delivery for you. just as she was explaining Mira's heart skipped a beat as she eyed the elegantly wrapped package her personal assistant handed her. Just then, Matilda walked in, her curious gaze flickering between Mira and the unexpected delivery. Mira's palms grew sweaty as she tried to maintain her composure, hoping her sister wouldn't notice the faint tremor in her hands. She knew the package was from Nicholas, a secret she wasn't ready to reveal, especially not to Matilda, who was well aware of his notorious reputation. As Matilda moved closer, Mira hastily tucked the package under her arm, flashing a casual smile. "Oh, just a little something I ordered," she said, hoping her voice sounded more convincing than she felt. dismissing Linda

oh what's that Matilda feeling excited. trying to change the topic, who was that last night? she asked Matilda smiling. that was john Matilda answered. have known john for quite sometimes now he his sweet Mira he asked me out on a date and I said yes. Matilda was smiling not realising how obvious she was. okay you like him Mira. Matilda couldn't contain her excitement as she told Mira about the upcoming date with John, a wealthy bachelor who owned one of the largest wine refineries in the country. Her eyes sparkled with anticipation, and she spoke animatedly, her hands gesturing as she recounted their initial conversation. What Matilda didn't realize was that her cheeks had taken on a rosy hue, a sure sign of her burgeoning feelings. Mira, sitting quietly beside her, couldn't help but notice her sister's blushing and the way her voice softened when she mentioned John's name. It was a rare sight to see Matilda so flustered, and Mira felt a mix of happiness and curiosity as she watched her sister's unexpected vulnerability unfold.

it was time for lunch, the office phone rang '' hello, it was Mr Charles Mira's dad calling. lets do lunch together Mr Charles told Mira oh okay dad she replied. Mat she called Matilda, huh Matilda replied all her cheeks was red at the time huh am going out to lunch with dad she said. oh okay I will just eat lunch myself. as Mira picked her bag to leave. Matilda called, Mira I think you should ask him your questions Maybe he wants to talk. she smiled back at Matilda giving her the yes Nod.

as they sat down quietly

**_The restaurant exuded elegance and sophistication, with its high ceilings adorned with glittering chandeliers and walls lined with rich, dark wood panelling. Soft jazz music played in the background, creating a soothing ambiance that mingled with the gentle hum of hushed conversations. Tables were draped in crisp, white linen, set with sparkling crystal glassware and gleaming silver cutlery. Each table boasted a centrepiece of fresh, vibrant flowers, adding a touch of natural beauty to the refined setting.

Mira and her father sat at a corner table by the window, offering a picturesque view of the cityscape beyond. The sunlight streamed in, casting a warm glow on their faces as they exchanged tentative glances. The air between them was heavy with unspoken words and unresolved tensions. As the waiter discreetly poured their wine, Mira took a deep breath, hoping this lunch would be the first step towards mending their strained relationship. Her father's face, etched with lines of worry and regret, softened as he met her gaze, the hint of a smile playing at the corners of his lips. It was a moment of fragile hope, set against the backdrop of opulence and grace.

I hope you are settling in well at the company? Mr Charles asked Mira. she nodded giving the yes nod. Dad she called. he looked at her feeling a little relieve releasing himself a little. Mira and her father sat in the elegant restaurant, a heavy silence settled between them. Her father's expression was sober but relieved a little as she had called him dad his eyes reflecting years of pain and regret. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for the truth he was about to reveal.

"Mira," he began, his voice tinged with sadness, "I need to tell you something that I've kept hidden for too long. You see, it wasn't my choice to leave you and your mother. Your mother gave me an ultimatum because she felt I wasn't providing enough for our family. She believed I was holding her back, and that's why she left, taking you with her."

Mira's eyes widened in shock, her heart pounding as she tried to process his words. The image of her father leaving them for a wealthy, influential woman had been etched in her mind for years, but now, the truth shattered that perception. She felt a mix of emotions—anger, sorrow, and an overwhelming sense of relief.

Her father continued, his voice trembling, "I married your stepmother later because she helped me pick up the pieces of my life. But I've always loved you, and I never wanted to be separated from you. I just didn't know how to reach out and explain what really happened. since your mum wouldn't allow me see you. I sent you letters and money every month. your mum rejected the money, she asked me not to send any money back she said I went ahead to marry someone else after making enough. in her words I should have prioritised her and you first but I was already married to Lewis. Matilda saw me like her father figure and was already part of the family. Lewis suggested I brought you and your Mum to new York. I was going to come get you guys when your aunt Caroline called me and explained that your mum was buried and she couldn't fend for you both and she didn't want you doing minor jobs. your aunt knew I could take care of you and give you a position at the company that was why she called me. and yes I send your aunt monthly allowance.

Tears streamed down Mira's face as her father's words echoed in her mind. She felt like her world had been turned upside down. Her mother had painted a very different picture of the past, one that had fuelled her resentment for years. Now, hearing her father's side, she was caught in a whirlwind of emotions—confusion, sadness, and an overwhelming desire to heal.

Her voice trembled as she tried to find the right words, her hands trembling slightly as she wiped away the tears. "Dad," she whispered, her throat tight with emotion. "I... I don't know what to say. All these years, I thought you abandoned us. But now... now I see things differently."

Her father reached across the table, taking her hand in his. His touch was warm and reassuring, a silent promise of his enduring love. "Mira, I'm so sorry for everything you went through," he said softly. "I never wanted to hurt you. I just didn't know how to make things right."

Mira squeezed his hand, a flicker of hope igniting in her heart. "I want to forgive you," she said, I forgive you dad and thank you for telling me the truth she said standing up to give her dad a hug.......

she walked with a smile down the hall as she took two glasses and a bottle of Champaign. the whole family was gathered at the pool side as Mrs Lewis has just signed a new contract and would be modelling for the Bailand company. Bailand is a clothing line, the number one clothing Line. everyone was celebrating Matilda had gone for her date so it was just Dad, Mrs Lewis and I.

after the whole celebration Dad and Mrs Lewis had retired to their room. I was alone in my room as the music played across the room. they were at it again the dancing mood. Dad and Mrs Lewis always had a dance before bed. I felt lonely and cold the thought of came through my mind. I remembered the gift Lina had gave me in the office.

Mira pulled the covers up around her shoulders, trying to chase away the chill that seeped into her bones. From her bed, she could hear the soft strains of a waltz drifting through the slightly ajar door. she opens the gift pack it was a box of poker cards. Nick had sent her poker cards that shows different sex styles and a card boldly written on it

''my pent house across town my driver will pick you up'' .

the thought of Nick ran through her mind. her face looked lost and her body wanting more licking her lips and smiling confusedly. she was lost in her thought she felt a little shiver down her spine. she felt disgusted and tossed the bags back into her drawer and went to bed.
