Chapter 15 - Informative Evening

Yaren held a beautiful bracelet made out of a strange gem, just holding the bracelet made his mind feel significantly calmer. Although it seems to be at least several thousand years old it remained in pristine condition.

"The reason you lose yourself in battle is due to your energy.. All beasts have small amounts of Primal Essence, also called Beastial energy. Lower Evolutions have Mana, and its common for Beasts to lose their Mana in place of different forms of beastial energy. Some Monsters do retain their Mana, but that's a different story. As you attain higher evolution your body will condense this essence into a Primal Core, the source of energy for Monsters and above, its similar to the nascent soul that transcendents form within their dantian to achieve higher cultivation realms, and eventually true immortality. Gods focus on studying the power of laws, and must not only garner the power of faith, but they have to expand the size of their "vessel" to house their power. Demons are different entirely.. Most demons simply absorb negative emotions, blood, or souls to gain strength. There are a few strange instances of beings using multiple ascension tactics, such as Monsters studying laws, God's who travel the path of transcendents, and many transcendents have demonic ties." Earl Adder explained as he watched Yaren examine the bracelet.

Yaren listened intently to what his elders were teaching him. He was wondering just exactly what all of it had to due with his problem, but since he wanted to learn more about this world he didn't mind at all.

"You're a bit of a special case, as while we don't know the specifics, your teacher mentioned that you have a unique constitution that somehow harnesses a particular energy called Fervor. There are many Monsters, God's, and other beings who have specialized in Fervor but the most notable is Grishnaka The Orcish Lord of Unyielding Conflict. That bracelet is supposedly an accessory made from his own crystallized essence that was given as a reward for a tournament long long ago."

Yaren suddenly remembered that he could check the items description using his system.

Yaren was ecstatic to receive the accessory from the two elders. Having his first piece of decent equipment was definitely exciting, but what he truly anticipated was seeing if he would be able to stay focused in battle.

"I understand.. so I'm guessing as I grow stronger I'll be able to control my energy myself?" Yaren asked after a brief pause.

"Not only that, but your Fervor is innate, you have yet to awaken your Bestial energy yet. You will most likely face some difficulty when your Prime Essence starts to awaken, as most beings wouldn't think of attempting to house multiple energies in their body until they reached the Fourth Rank."

Yarens stomach dropped as he heard Earl Adder explain the problems of having multiple energies.

"Well, it's different a lot of the times based on which energies you wish to house or combine. However you shouldn't have to many problems as it comes from your Physique. Your evolution will definitely factor this is in."

After many moments of silence Chief Koly gave a small chuckled as he sipped from a steaming cup.

"Really, you have no need to worry Whelp. Much of this information comes from Fragnir.."

He took a long look at Asena before continuing, "Also it seems like he intends to move forward with your training.."

Yaren raised his eyebrows as the way Chief Koly had said it had somewhat of a eerie tone to it. His voice was laden with gloom as he spoke once more.

"Yaren. Yinnsk is not a safe place right now. There is active fighting almost everyday and it's getting harder and harder to tell who our opponents are. Yinnsk is no longer a village, it's a small garrison at this moment.."

Tilting his head I'm confusion, Yaren waited quietly for the Chief to finish, however the hair on the back of his neck started to stand up as the Chief pushed a small envelope towards him. He looked at the two in front of him before the Chief motioned towards the letter in Yarens hands.

Opening it, to his surprise it was written in Monster Language, not remembering if Fragnir knew he spoke Inglant yet or not he shook it off as slowly read the contents.

"I will give you an opportunity. If you do not wish to wait for your legs to heal to continue training, have Asena bring you back in four days."

Yaren laughed as he thought about how that was the most Fragnir had ever communicated with him before. Before he could open his mouth to discuss the contents he was stopped by both of the men in front of him.

"Those words were for you, not for us." Chief Koly explained that he wished to respect Fragnirs wishes while Earl Adder seemed throughly disinterested in anything regarding the man, always acting a bit off when the conversation lingered on him for too long as If he wanted nothing to do with him at all.

Folia clapped, breaking the awkward silence as she waved her hand causing a basket filled with goods to appear. Like lighting the young man covered in scars that was training on the other end if the room appeared in front of the group, his eyes shining as he stared at the delicious treats calling to him. He looked at Folia with eyes reminiscent of a begging puppy, causing to roll her eyes with a sigh as she gave the go ahead. This caused the three men to have a cheerful laugh, dispelling the tension after their last conversation.

The young man's name was Akney, a young soldier who's army suffered a sweeping defeat. Earl Adder, being an Earl for the Kuldrid Empire happened to be the commander in charge of the battle. He found the young boy when he was just 14 years old. Covered in wounds and broken from what he experienced he asked for death when the Earl discovered him on the ground grievously injured. He claims the Earl saved him in a whim but the when Yaren looked to the Earl for confirmation he just gave a mysterious smile. Ever since that day Akney has been one of Earl Adders personal guards. Even though he's young very few of the older soldiers give him problems due to his amazing prowess and fervent loyalty to the Earl. Akney bid the four farewell as he resumed his training, but Yaren felt like he would meet the young man again in the future.

Yaren was curious about the other group of people but Chief Koly, Folia, nor Earl Adder even acknowledged them so he disregarded them entirely. The four conversed about the happenings for awhile. Yaren learned that the Kuldrid Empire is only a medium sized country in the grand scheme of the world, even having multiple god level combatants. The Emperor, Cardyin Vilatrepe was a rank 7 Prime God powerhouse. Not many people remember what his strength is like in person as he hasn't had to act personally in awhile, his title as The God Who Sundered the Sea should be a testiment to his ability. He also learned that Norn City is the 17th biggest city within the Empire. He couldn't wait to explore the world, every story the three told him grew his wonder of the vastness of the universe, spurring the rapid feeling of anticipation in his chest.

Folia yawned, signaling her time to leave. She asked Yaren if he wanted to come back to the city with her so he obliged. Saying their goodbye to the elders for now the two walked over to a small magic circle before Folia closed her eyes and channeled her Mana. Before he new it his vision was filled with a flash of brilliant light. The ground seemed to disappear beneath him and for a split second he felt as if he was drifting listless in a void before his feet touched the ground.

Yaren tumbled to the ground, dazed and nauseous from his first teleportation. He looked up to see Folia giving him a teasing grin as she turned away before looking back and giggling. The sight of her in the moment made his blood rush as the skirt she wore that day clinged to her shapely legs. He pear shaped hips twisting into a seductive pose as she waved him to follow.

Slowly getting to his legs, still shaking and feeling unwell from the teleportation, his mind reeled as he watched Folia slowly saunder away. Not knowing what else to do, he followed his gut feeling as he clumsily caught up to her. Taking the chance to look around he realized they were in what appeared to be a temple making him throw another side eye at Folia.

When they came back out onto the street Yaren recalled that they weren't far from the Earls Manor.

"We really did take the scenic route huh?" He casually remarked. Noticing the the strange look on her face he quickly stammered "n-not that I minded it. It was actually great, and I would love to do it again." In hopes to recover. She linked her arm in his as the two strolled down the quiet street, the peaceful city was starkly different in the dead of night, paint a romantic picture. Yarens face blushed as stole several glances towards Folia.

When they reached the Manor the guards bowed as they opened the gates.

"Sir Yaren, Earl Adder has assigned you a room for the duration of your stay. Please do not hesitate to ask the maids for any assistance you may need."

Yaren nodded as he turned to Folia, who had unlooped her arms as they approached the gates.

"Thank you. I'm not sure what I would have done without your assistance.."

Folia frowned as she put her hands on her hips and asked "is that all?"

Looking at her pouting face he subconsciously let out a warm smile before hiding it once again.

"I still haven't seen the rest of the city, if you would like to show me around.." He said as he scratched the back of his head.

"I can't tomorrow, as I won't be free until the evening but we can the next day!" She said with a radiant smile. Agreeing, He bid her farewell before retiring for the night.

A begger mindlessly clamored into an alleyway as a beautiful sheep like Demi woman made her way down the path with a purposeful gait. He eyed her every movement before turning back towards the direction of that manor. He cackled to himself as he took a massive swig of the bottle In his hands before slumping next to a pile of trash, setting his head on the cold stone as his glassy eyes honed in on the gates off in the distance.
