Chapter 8 - Fake amnesia

Rosalee lowered her head and sat quietly at the dining table, unwilling to look at the nutrient solutions in front of her.

She refused to drink these unsightly nutrient solutions. Her hunger had disappeared as soon as she knew that it was her food.

Felix was sitting across from her, his arms folded and his legs out in front of him as he leaned back in the chair.

When his little sister asked him whether they could eat natural food instead of the nutrients solution, he was a little taken aback and confused.

Natural food? Did she think of herself as a princess in the royal family who could consume natural food?

Was she day dreaming?

He knew his sister well enough to know that she would not ask him such a ridiculous question.

He fell into deep thoughts as he tapped his fingers on his arms. He initially believed that his little sister was playing a prank on him by feigning amnesia, but after witnessing her series of actions, he was convinced that she wasn't.

In fact, the person sitting in front of him might not be his sister, but someone else.

From the moment he heard her and Evan talking, he had started to have his doubts. It was odd that, even if she did lose her memory, she had forgotten 'everything.'

Her name, age, the planet's name, their parents, and the common sense that had been ingrained in her since birth.

Everything.

It was very strange.

His suspicions grew even stronger after witnessing her strange behaviours since last night, and when she appeared in front of him after cutting her hair.

He was absolutely certain.

The girl in front of him was not his real sister!

In fact, his younger sister treasured her hair more than she did herself. So it was absolutely impossible for her to cut it.

Felix sneered, knowing that the amnesia had been fake from the beginning, and his heart was cold.

Rosalee raised her head meekly at his sneer, wondering what was cooking in his head as she gazed at him.

Felix inadvertently caught her eyes and asked her with a vicious stare, "Who are you?"

BOOM!

Rosalee felt a blast in her ears and she froze in fright. Her expression changed instantly, and Felix knew he was right.

In fact, she did not lose her memories in the first place, but she has changed into a completely different person since waking up!

His hands heavily slammed on the table as he suddenly leaned forward, staring at her with wide eyes and saying, "I know exactly who you are."

Rosalee broke out in cold sweats, her hands under the table trembled, and she tried to calm herself down by pinching her thighs.

Stiffly smiling, she shot back, "I don't know what you are talking about." She could not think of an excuse because fear gripped her heart.

Can she run away right now?!

Felix smiled maliciously and said with a glint in his eyes, "you can't fool me anymore. Stop pretending to be dumb!"

Rosalee's body trembled and her pupils dilated with terror. What was he going to do?

Then, with his arms crossed, Felix straightened up and said, "You must be the little fool's second personality."

Rosalee felt her blood freeze for a split second.

Huh?

She hurriedly lowered her head to conceal her panicked expression which had changed to confusion as she blinked rapidly.

What is going on?

For a second, she thought she was going to get caught and sent to laboratory.

Felix sighed, and she heard his inexplicable words, "Don't worry. You are not to blame for this, I know that. It just caught me off guard."

Rosalee eyes under her bangs were blank. She could not figure out how this person came up with this strange idea, but!

This was really good!

"How - how did you know?" she stammered weakly as she raised her head to face him.

"I am not blind," Felix said, returning to his previous position after hearing her question and continued with a slight frown, "I have been living with the little fool for the past sixteen years, how can I not know?"

Rosalee patted her chest, feeling a little embarrassed and amused by his words. She was embarrassed that she believed her flimsy excuse would fool him.

How come the novels' transmigrated heroines get away with using this silly excuse, but it backfired on her!

She was surprised that he would notice the changes right away.

Was her behavior more extreme than the original owner's?

Rosalee silently scolded and gave a middle finger to the divine being for not giving her the original owner's memories, as all protagonists are supposed to.

However, knowing that the divine being had not completely abandoned her and that her future depended on it, she quickly retracted her finger with a sheepish smile.

"Yes, you are right. I am your sister's second personality." Rosalee nodded, taking advantage of this opportunity tonmake it clear that she was not the original owner.

Felix smiled sadly, knowing that he had to accept the truth, no matter how unpleasant it was.

Since their upstairs neighbor was also diagnosed with the same condition, he was not unfamiliar with his sister's condition. He tried to remember what the condition was called.

Dissociative Identity Disorder, DID.

According to what he overheard from his neighbors, the condition occurrs due to extreme stress or trauma.

It served as a means of escape from the real world.

His heart ached with pain and regret; his little sister must have been suffering from depression after seeing their parents die. He regretted not taking better care of her mental condition. He should have done everything he could to make her feel safe.

After all, she was the little baby who was adored by both his parents and him.

With a helpless sigh, he asked his sister's second personality, "How is she?" in a gentle manner.

It took a few moments for Rosalee to realize that he was inquiring about the original owner.

Her lips twitched, and she answered with a nod, "Good!"

Felix let go his worries and he smiled slightly. "Will she come back?" He sat up straight, his fingers clenched in front of him, and he kept asking, his eyes full of hope.

Rosalee thought it was difficult because she had no idea what had ever happened to the original owner!

"I - I don't know?" She squeaked out.

Felix interpreted her words as negative. His little sister's condition must be serious if she refuses to return to her body.

He could not help but smile sadly and say, "It is fine as long as she is healthy." After giving it some thought, he went on to address her earlier query about eating natural food.
