Chapter 6 - 6: Harrison Returns

6: Harrison Returns

A tall, imposing figure rode his horse toward home, his dark raven hair perfectly in place.

His chiseled features, strong jawline, and piercing crimson eyes exuded a sense of confidence and authority.

His armor, polished to a shine, reflected the fading sunlight, accentuating his broad shoulders and powerful physique.

Despite the long journey, he looked refreshed, his face clean-shaven, and his eyes sparkling with anticipation.

As he guided his horse through the gates, a smile spread across his face, and his eyes crinkled at the corners.

Harrison Silver, the seasoned warrior and patriarch of the family, had finally returned home.

Renowned as a prodigy from childhood, Harrison had grasped the art of combat with ease - much to the dismay of his childhood friends, who never stood a chance against him.

Legend has it that Harrison's first words were "Charge!" and his first steps were taken while wielding a wooden sword.

Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration, but you get the idea! , By age 10, he had mastered the sword, and by 15, he was taking down grown men with ease (in a friendly, non-violent way, of course).

Harrison's incredible prowess earned him the nickname "The Silver Storm" .

A name that struck fear into the hearts of his enemies and inspired awe in his allies.

His reputation preceded him, and people would often whisper, "Harrison Silver is coming!" .

As he dismounted his horse, the sound of clanking armor echoed through the courtyard.

Harrison clapped Ryker on the back.

"Good to hear that things have been quiet I was worried I'd miss all the action."

Ryker snorted. "You know us, Commander. We can't have things getting too dull."

Harrison chuckled. "I'm sure you've kept everything under control.

How are the King and Queen? Any changes in the palace?"

Ryker's expression turned serious.

"Actually, sir, there's been some... peculiar behavior from Their Majesties.

Secret meetings, hidden agendas... Some of the guards are whispering about strange occurrences at night."

Harrison's brow furrowed. "Go on."

Ryker leaned in, lowering his voice. "Well, it seems the King and Queen have been making some suspicious moves.

Appointing new advisors, shifting troops around... Some folks think they're planning something big."

Harrison's eyes narrowed. "I don't like the sound of that. Keep an ear to the ground, Ryker.

I want to know everything."

Ryker nodded. "Aye, Commander. I'll keep digging."

Harrison paused, scanning the courtyard.

"Anything else I should know?"

Ryker shrugged. "Nah, just the usual gossip, sir.

Although, some folks are whispering about strange happenings in the forest.

Disappearances, eerie lights... the usual rumors."

Harrison's expression turned thoughtful.

"Keep an eye on that too. I'll review the reports when I get settled."

Ryker's expression shifted to a warm smile. "Speaking of which, sir, there's some news about your family."

Harrison's eyes lit up with interest. "Oh?

What's that?"

Ryker's voice dropped to a proud whisper.

"Kaid, your eldest, sir... he's awakened his mana core ."

Harrison's face froze, shock and joy warring for dominance.

"He's formed his core ?" he asked in excitement, his voice barely above a whisper.

Ryker nodded. "Aye, Commander!

And the boy's a natural. He's already grasped the basics of both sword and magic.

He's been training with the instructors, and they're all impressed."

Harrison's chest swelled with pride. He had always known Kaid had potential, but to hear he's formed his mana core already...

"How's his control?" he asked, his mind racing with possibilities.

Ryker chuckled. "Well, sir, let's just say Kaid's got a bit of a wild streak.

But with some guidance, he'll master it in no time."

Harrison beamed, his heart swelling with excitement. He couldn't wait to see his son's progress.

Harrison's face glowed with excitement.

"And how's my daughter, Elsie? How's her training coming along?"

Ryker's expression faltered, and he cleared his throat. "Ah, well, sir... Elsie's... uh... doing well, too."

Harrison's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean by 'too'?

You said 'first son' earlier... What's going on, Ryker?"

Ryker's eyes darted around, as if searching for an escape. "I... uh... meant to say... sir, you have... more children now."

Harrison's brow furrowed. "More children?

What are you talking about, Ryker? I have Kaid and Elsie. That's it."

Ryker's face turned pale, and he swallowed hard.

"Sir... I... uh... perhaps you should speak with Lady Aria about this".

"Hey speak up Ryker".

But... well, you've already figured it out, haven't you?"

Harrison's eyes widened in mock astonishment. "Figured what out, Ryker?

That my wife has been hiding a secret underground bunker filled with cookies?"

Ryker's face turned a deeper shade of red as he chuckled nervously. "Uh, no, sir... nothing like that."

Harrison's grin grew wider. "Come on, Ryker! Spill the beans! What's the big secret?"

Ryker tried to shift the conversation. "So, sir, how was your journey? Any exciting battles?"

Harrison wasn't having it. "Ryker, Ryker, Ryker... you're as transparent as a glass of fine ale. Tell me, what's going on?"

Ryker's eyes darted around, searching for an escape. "Uh, well, sir... the weather's been quite pleasant lately..."

Harrison leaned in, his voice taking on a conspiratorial tone.

"Ryker, I've known you since you were my fellow recruit . I can see right through you.

You're hiding something, and I aim to find out what."

Ryker's face turned a deeper shade of red as he stuttered, "I-I-I'm just... just trying to protect Lady Aria's surprise, sir!"

Harrison's eyes sparkled with amusement.

"Ah, Ah, Ah... now we're getting somewhere! What surprise could my lovely wife possibly have?"

Ryker tried to change the subject again.

"Did you hear about the new batch of recruits? They're quite promising..."

Harrison cut him off. "Ryker, focus! What. Is. Going. On?"

Ryker's eyes pleaded for mercy. "Sir, please... just talk to Lady Aria..."

Harrison's grin grew wider. "Oh, I will... but I want to hear it from you first."

Ryker threw his hands up in defeat and exclaimed, "Fine, sir! Lady Aria gave birth to twins!"

Harrison's face froze in shock. "Twins?!"

Ryker nodded vigorously. "Yes, sir! Two tiny little bundles of joy... and chaos."

Harrison's expression transformed into one of pure joy. "TWINNNS! OH, BY THE GODS, TWINNS!"

Ryker chuckled at Harrison's outburst.

"Aye, sir! Lady Aria said you'd be... enthusiastic."

Harrison's excitement was contagious as he began to laugh and dance around Ryker.

"I'VE GOT TWINS! I'M A FATHER AGAIN! TWICE OVER!"

Ryker couldn't help but join in on the celebration.

"Congratulations, Commander! You're going to need twice the amount of sleep... and patience!"

Harrison's grin grew even wider. "Sleep?

Who needs sleep when you have TWINS?! I'LL JUST RUN ON CAFFEINE AND JOY!"

As they celebrated, the courtyard began to fill with curious onlookers.

"What's all the commotion about?" one of the guards asked.

Ryker turned to the crowd and announced, "Commander Silver has just found out he's the father of TWINS!"

The crowd erupted in cheers and applause as Harrison took a triumphant bow.

"I'M THE KING OF FATHERHOOD! WHO NEEDS SLEEP WHEN YOU HAVE TWINS?!"

"Commander silver, please lower your voice a little bit".

Ryker said trying to make Harrison lower his voice a little bit .
