Chapter 53 - Chapter 53: Tohsaka Rin Saves Herself

["The more, the merrier in this kind of 'party,' don't you think?"]

[Ryuunosuke Uryuu threw the two captured children to the ground, reaching out to grab Rin.]

["Snap!"]

[Suddenly, the magic compass around Rin's neck pulsed with energy, creating a barrier that repelled Uryuu with a burst of magical force.]

["What… was that?!"]

[As Uryuu staggered back, Rin snapped out of her daze and quickly took the chance to back away, putting some distance between herself and the twisted man.]

Tohsaka Rin: "What happened just now?"

Chihiro: "It looks like your father's compass wasn't just a simple detector. It seems to have a protective charm built into it, probably to shield you from dangerous magic."

Rin looked surprised but grateful. "So... it saved me?"

---

["Hey, don't think you can get away!"]

[Ryuunosuke recovered quickly and lunged for Rin again, but she evaded him with agile movements, darting out of his reach.]

[As she maneuvered, she noticed something glowing purple around Ryuunosuke's wrist—a peculiar bracelet emitting an ominous light.]

["That bracelet… it's controlling them!"]

[Rin realized the source of the curse on the children. She quickly scrambled onto a nearby table, grabbing anything within reach and hurling it at him.]

["Ouch!"]

[Ryuunosuke flinched as one of the objects hit his wrist, forcing him to instinctively raise his hand. Seizing the moment, Rin snatched the bracelet off his wrist.]

["I just have to destroy this…!"]

[Rin channeled her limited magical energy into the bracelet, attempting to break it. However, the bracelet retaliated, unleashing a wave of dark magic that began to overwhelm her.]

["Why… why won't it break…"]

[Rin's movements grew sluggish as the dark energy tried to seep into her mind, dulling her senses.]

Video paused.

Question: How did Tohsaka Rin finally escape from the clutches of Caster's group?

A: Failed to escape and was sacrificed by Bluebeard to become a sea demon.

B: Saved by Tohsaka Tokiomi, who arrived just in time.

C: Saved by Matou Kariya, who arrived just in time.

D: With sheer luck and willpower, she managed to save herself and escape.

Iskandar: "The girl's got guts, but she's far too reckless."

Waver: "Are you really one to talk about recklessness?"

Iskandar: "Haha! At least I have the strength to back it up."

"I won't really become that monster, will I?" Rin asked nervously, recalling the terrifying sea demon from the previous video.

Chihiro reached over to reassure her. "No, you won't. Remember, we saw a glimpse of your future in the previous Q&A. You're safe and studying at the Clock Tower when you're older."

"Right!" Rin's face lit up. "That means I survive, so option A must be wrong. But then, which one is correct?"

Chihiro leaned over and whispered something to her. Rin nodded.

On the other side, Tohsaka Tokiomi was also watching intently.

"I think it's probably B."

If his daughter was in such danger, it would be natural for Kotomine Kirei or the Assassin monitoring other Masters to notify him. He assumed he would be the one to save her in time.

"Kayneth, which answer should we pick?" Sola asked quietly.

"Go with D," Kayneth replied confidently.

Sola frowned. "She saves herself? That seems a bit optimistic for a young girl like her."

"It's not optimism, it's experience," Kayneth replied. "In multiple-choice questions like this, especially when it's unclear, you should pick the least likely option. It usually ends up being correct."

Sola looked skeptical but ultimately selected D, trusting Kenneth's judgment.

[The video continued, showing Rin struggling as the dark magic started to cloud her vision. Just when it seemed she would succumb, she summoned every bit of her willpower.]

["I… won't… lose!"]

[With a defiant shout, Rin focused her energy, pushing the black magic back as her own magical aura intensified. The bracelet, unable to withstand the strain, shattered in her hands, releasing a small explosion of energy.]

["Aaah!"]

[Ryuunosuke screamed as the shockwave knocked him back, leaving a mark on his face from the explosion.]

Sola-Ui: "She really did it? I didn't think a young girl like her could pull that off!"

Kayneth nodded, looking impressed. "Her potential as a mage is remarkable. It's rare for someone her age to have such determination and control over magic."

Rin, watching herself in the video, felt a surge of pride. "I… I really managed to do it on my own."

---

[As the bracelet shattered, the dark magic dissipated from the basement. The spell over the other children lifted, and they began to regain consciousness.]

["Mmm… Rin?"]

[One of the children, Kotone, opened her eyes, looking at Rin with a dazed expression.]

["Kotone!"]

[Rin ran to her friend, helping her up. "Are you okay?"]

[Kotone looked around in confusion. "Rin, where… where are we?"]

[The other children, slowly realizing their surroundings, began to cry in fear and confusion.]

["No time for tears! Everyone, get up—we have to leave now!" Rin shouted, her voice full of urgency.]

[Her words snapped the children into action, and they began to run towards the exit, guided by Rin.]

---

Tohsaka Tokiomi watched with a mixture of pride and relief, muttering to himself, "Rin… you really are a Tohsaka."

Chihiro gave her a proud smile. "See? You're more resourceful than you thought."

Rin blushed but looked pleased. "I… I guess I am."

---

[As Rin and the children made their escape, Ryuunosuke recovered, picking up the remains of the broken bracelet.]

["Oh no, Gilles is definitely going to be mad about this…"]

[He watched helplessly as Rin and the children ran out of sight, too stunned to follow.]

With the sight of her video-self managing to save her friend and escape, Rin let out a sigh of relief.
