Chapter 10 - Something isn't right

"When do you need me to start digging?" Linx asked, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.

As a renowned hacker and software developer, he was part of the country's top three. His exceptional skills made uncovering secrets, child's play.

"Get started ASAP," Kael replied.

Zach grinned mischievously. "Myung Hee has no idea who she's messing with."

Linx stood up, announcing, "I'll be back,"

"Where to?" Zach asked.

Linx winked. "To find some hoes, before getting to business."

Zach shook his head, chuckling. "You can never change."

Kael intervened, his tone firm. "I warned you both: no bringing women here, even when I'm away. Repeat it, and you're out."

Linx laughed. "He acts innocent, but he's the ringleader."

"I can hear you!" Kael shouted from his room, prompting laughter.

Linx bid farewell. "Catch you later."

Zach chuckled. "There goes the ladies' man."

THAT SAME EVENING,

Linx faced the laptop to Kael, "So, here's the information I gathered,"

The laptop screen was filled with incriminating evidence.

"Seung-ho built a company for her, which she has been managing for the past five years, Star Intel.

Apparently, she's been embezzling funds meant for the progress of the company, blaming it on staff.

Many of her workers have been sent to jail by her.

Rumors say she copies the designs of other companies and uses it, without any prior request for permission.

If they try to raise an alarm, she silences them, using her influence as a Jang to keep them shut." He explained.

"Find more. She needs to have her bucket filled up."

Linx typed furiously on the keyboard, his eyes locked on the screen, fully concentrated., "Bingo!" He chimed.

"What did you find?" Zach asked.

"I was able to hack into the transaction records of the company. From what I see, ridiculous amount of money has been going into a mysterious account.

"Can you track the account?" Kael inquired.

"Yes. Give me some minutes," Linx replied, his focus unwavering.

"I'd better go grab some popcorn, this is getting more interesting than I expected." Zach said, walking towards the kitchen.

"Guys, huddle up," Linx called, and they moved closer.

"It seems like Myung Hee is building an organization in secret; she's definitely up to no good.

Also, she has been sending encrypted messages to the owner of this account.

But the thing is, this account is heavily guarded, so I haven't found out the identity of the owner yet"

"Give me some hours, or days. I'll be able to get you all you need" He said.

Kael smirked, studying the information. "I love what I see'"

"Didn't know she was this shady" Zach remarked.

"So, what's the plan now? Where do we come in?" He asked. Kael already told them about Min Ju's alliance.

"Zach, you have a job to do." Kael articulated, and Zach listened with rapt attention.

"You are going to Star Intel tomorrow. We need to get internal access to that company" Kael explained, and Zach nodded.

"Linx, keep checking for more information, and also don't forget to get the details of that account.

We need to find the owner, as soon as possible" he said.

"I have always wondered how a no-good stripper like her ended in the Jang's family... I wonder what she's up to" he mused.

*

"Where are you coming from? Ah Rim, Hye Soo's mother asked, and Hye Soo almost rolled her eyes.

Her parents have been monitoring her movements, ever since she rejected the third suitor that was arranged for her.

"I didn't go anywhere in particular. Just out, that was all" She mumbled.

"I won't be having dinner. I'm going to my room," She muttered.

"Young lady, I'm talking to you. Are you out of your senses?

Because your father isn't around, does that mean I can't speak to you? How dare you walk out on your mother?!!" She yelled.

"I didn't walk out on you mother"

"So what was that? What do you call that? I wasn't done talking to you, and you announced you were going to sleep.

How disrespectful!"

"You don't want to get married.

You don't want to do anything with your life.

Don't you know you are twenty three, you are not more a little girl for crying out loud, stop lazing around."

"Mum, if this is all about the marriage issue, then just let it go.

I'm not interested in getting married now. And like you said, I'm twenty-three, allow me to leave my life the way I want. You can't keep dictating for me, all my life.

You keep bringing suitors to me. Today, this one is your friend's son. Tomorrow, this one is your client's son. You all should just leave me alone. I'm tired of all this" She exclaimed, walking up to her room.

"I'm your mother, and you'll do whatever I say. I didn't train you to be a tomboy. Another suitor is coming tomorrow. Pick a nice dress, and don't you dare sneak out tomorrow.

Your dad would also be around, so you'd better behave yourself" Ah Rim shouted from the living room.

Hye Soo heard her mum words, and she groaned.

"it's not by force" she muttered. "Why must I get married to who they choose? This is just insane"

She pulled the duvet over her head, forcing herself to sleep, but sleep eluded her.

She hissed, pulling the duvet off her head. "It's just so annoying."

*

Myung Hee was doing her makeup, ready to go to work.

Min Ju came in, a blank expression on her face. "You called for me?" She asked.

"Yes, I did,"

"You've been acting really distant lately. Is everything okay?" She asked, trying to gauge if Min Ju had discovered anything.

"Dad's not around. You can drop the nice act," Min Ju scoffed.

"I'm saying this because of your sister. You've being acting cold towards her, which is unlike you."

"Is that what you called me here for? If that is the reason, I'll be taking my leave" Min Ju said coldly, and left; shutting the door in Myung Hee's face.

Myung Hee blinked her eyes rapidly. "Something isn't right..." She muttered, picking up her phone to call Ji Ho.
