I rode fiercely across the bushy terrain, my stallion kicking up as much dirt as it could, galloping nonstop. Another horse followed from behind, lost in the continuously widening gap between us.

Countless trees were packed in front of us, their canopies spreading as they enclosed every ounce of view of the sky above us.

The air got thinner as it rushed through my face and nostrils, compelling me to stop as I fought the discomfort.

"Why did they have to get the only mage I had"

I felt words, like thoughts and emotions, rise up till it got stuck swirling in my head. I was panicking, from the constant fear of losing a core member of my team, after so much time and investments made.

It was sickening.

We finally came up to the road that paved a path to her cottage. An empty feeling in my chest, left by the hole fear had bore. I clung loosely at my tunic, failing to reach my heart and grasp it also.
