I came downstairs and was introduced to my new bodyguards. Roland, Igor, Natasha, Finn, Jasper and Oleg. I asked them to not be so serious with me. I like my guards being more open and relaxed with me. They are allowed to be serious only when trouble ensues. Roland was the first to relax. Oleg remained stiff so I named him Mr Serious. We are going to find a way to change the situation. He gave me a stiff nod and walked towards the window. I told him that the threats he will be facing for the next few months live in the sewers. They are called Strigois.
He had never heard of them as did the others. All because they spent a few decades locked up as a science experiments. I told them that these creatures are a mix of both vampires and werewolves. They have the same weakness. Silver and sunlight. They use the UV bombs in the sewers but if they are outside I will use my scream to kill them. Both sides seemed skeptical so I gave them a demonstration. We opened a tunnel that Aurelio had made if things got ugly. As we descended these creatures came forth. They started to flit into our minds and started showing us horrific images. I counted to ten and screamed. The others snapped out their hallucinations and watched as I killed them.
When we resurfaced I told my security about my internal radar. I was vague about the extent but they seemed to trust me for some reason. My security was both vampires and werewolves. They seemed to hate each other. But I told them that they are a family now and they can't have a superiority complex anymore. They are going to work out their differences and work as a team. These were the ones who were in captivity during the truce. So I sat them down and had them talk about their problems. It took a few tries but they started making progress. After a few missions fighting Strigois they became more friendly towards one another. I made sure they stopped showing off.
During one particular mission I found a group of nocturnals kept in experiments. I was so pissed that I shrieked at the entire oval office when I got them out. They spend a few minutes spasming in pain. They apologized profusely and got the rest of people out of their excruciating punishment. The president asked the nocturnals to talk to me and their response was simple. We stand by our Queen. The vice president said that the humans weren't this dedicated. So they promised to behave. Oleg and Roland's demeanor changed as did the others. They became more remorseful and much more kinder. Jasper became more curious.
A few days later I found out that I had rescued the relatives of my own security. Before they served out of duty. Now their service was out of compassion and respect. I decided to go shopping. The others accompanied me and watched as I tried on several clothes. They seemed to listen to my commentary with amusement. "This outfit makes me look like Neil Armstrong when he landed on the moon. This outfit belongs on show girls. This outfit is for fitness buffs. This one is definitely my worst nightmare. I look like I am someone's baby. I look like I just hit puberty. I need to look like a grown up. I need to be taken seriously. Excuse me miss can you help me find an outfit that makes me look more mature." After an hour we reached the food court and I tried most of the food. They seemed surprised that I could eat as much.
When we got in the car I told them about the day my mom and I ate from several restaurants. I even tried to imitate the expression of the waiter when he found how places we are three course meals from. They had a straight face for one second and burst out laughing. I made sure we weren't moving otherwise we could have hit something. Oleg was trying to be serious but even he was failing. I sensed a trap so I told them to take a different route. So they did. Soon an SVU and a Jeep started tailing us. It was trying to make sure we didn't reach the nocturnal quarters. I decided to retract the shield back to my body. The siren blared and soon the vehicles that were harassing us had to turn around and help the wall.
The president demanded an explanation for the sudden change in zombie behavior. Moments ago they were lethargic but now they are nuts. I decided to play stupid and said that I knew nothing and it would have worked had it not been for Roland. He grabbed the phone and yelled at the president about the idiots who not only set a trap but tailed us all the way home. The president spent the next few minutes apologizing before he got his hands on the creeps responsible. He gave me the idiot but I sent them back. I asked the president to deal with them since I am not in the mood but the president refused so Roland and Igor ate them.
I was still in my disguise version. I got bored and changed back. My guards were speechless at my appearance while the others insisted that I changed back to the other version. I spent an hour in the gym hitting a punching bag as I tried to distract myself from yesterday's incident. Things could have escalated quickly. I know nothing happened but my mind kept going through imaginary scenarios. None of them are pleasant. When I was done punching and kicking the others asked me if I was okay. I shrugged my shoulder and continued punching. Jasper held the bag and asked me what was wrong. I kept punching. Roland asked me if I was pushing everyone away.
I sat down and told them about an ambush that Saber did. I was picking wild berries and heard a bang. There was heavy gunfire. There were screams of pain. I smelled smoke and charred flesh. I snuck off to see what was going on. It turns out that a few people had managed to escape Saber and tried to move to Green Dale. The soldiers were waiting in ambush. They threw a few grenades at them and shot the rest. The soldiers kneecapped them and then poured gasoline on them. They were alive as the soldiers set them on fire. Their screams still haunt me. I just felt that yesterday was going to be just like that day. I just don't want a repeat. Natasha and Finn gave me a hug. Oleg stared at me with sadness. I assume that he had seen similar situations.
A very nervous Ute asked me to change back to my disguise as Heahmond asked me to extend my shield since the zombies are becoming more violent. I took a deep breath and felt a bubble expand. Soon the security relaxed their stance as reports came that the zombies had calmed down. I stared at a mirror to change back to disguise mode. I made a face that I can't be myself. Ute said that a disguise doesn't change who I am. This is for my protection. The others had mixed feelings about it. I shrugged it off and went back to punching and kicking. I poured out my frustrations.
Finally Oleg had enough and he told me to go take a bath. Maybe the soaking in the tub would dissolve my problem temporarily till I find a solution. I ignored him as a rule as I kept kicking. Finally Batou came in and asked me to join him in the kitchen. He said if I wanted to kick something he can find me a washing machine. My face turned red as I followed him into the kitchen. Roland asked very nicely what Batou meant. I gave Batou the look of death and he smiled like a proud uncle. He had a dazed expression as he recalled the day he heard that mom took a sick day. Which means I was really sick. So he came in the back door with a basket of fruits. He heard me yelling at someone for being incompetent. As he walked in he saw that I was stroking my mother's arm with the utmost tender loving care. Suddenly with a surprise surge of strength I swung my tiny fist and smacked the washing machine with my crutches. I used a few baby versions of bad words. He finally understood what was going on when I said that the machine had forgotten to iron the clothes which means mom can't take a break. By the time she is done ironing she will pass out. Mom was cheering me on as I yelled at the machine.
Whatever respect anyone had for me disappeared and everyone started to laugh. I whispered quietly, "Did you not recognize the shut up face?" He grinned, "I did but I knew that you won't hurt me so I boldly went where no one has ever gone before" I gave him a brief slap on the arm as I recalled, "I said that the day I brought home a snake" Oleg and Roland fell off their seats. Batou's expression turned serious, "I remember carrying dinner as your mother brought in your new meds. You showed me the box and your mother pulled out her gun so fast I would say it was at the speed of light. We shot the thing till we were sure it was dead. You started to cry because you did it to prove you were a big girl and that you can handle responsibility" I spoke defiantly, "It was a baby snake. I doubt it could do any harm." Batou retorted, "The snake was one of the deadliest. One bite would have killed you" I asked him how he knew the snake was deadly. He shrugged, "I took it to an expert"
Roland and Finn asked me very nicely to stay away from snakes. Natasha advised me that there are ways to be mature without stupidity. Oleg said that he would be more than happy to share some tips on how to be an adult. I grinned, "I am willing to listen if you go on a date with me" Oleg accidentally said yes. I walked with a skip in my step as Roland smacked Oleg on his head. Natasha wished him luck while the others said it was nice knowing him. I gave Batou a look to say we will talk about this later. Batou was laughing as the twins walked by. Angus asked what was funny and Batou retorted, "Your mom is going on a date. I think she found you a man fit to be your dad." The twins ran to me wanting an introduction. I had to turn around and summon Oleg. The twins stared with interest as my entire security was introduced to my babies. Angus asked slyly, "Which one of you has been chosen to be my daddy?" His twin was hopping on the balls of her feet.
Roland pushed Oleg forward and the twins wrapped their arms around him. They yelled 'Daddy' in unison as Oleg blushed about a hundred shades of red. The rest of security was watching with amusement. Oleg looked at his family for support and saw that they were pleased. He gave in and hugged them back. Batou was chuckling as they fired a million questions. After their rapid fire rounds I managed to peel them off and walked to the playroom. We sat by the piano and we played a few melodies. Some were newer and unfamiliar while some were old school. Oleg and the rest of my security sat and watched as we played a few fun tunes. Oleg's sister leaned against the piano as we played a duet. Even Oleg was intrigued. I looked at him for the briefest moment and blushed a few shades of red. Angus noticed and he immediately called out, "Momma is blushing" Annie started giggling.
I walked away with what dignity I had left and the kids tailed after me singing "Oleg and Mommy sitting on a tree. K.I.S.S.I.N.G." I turned and gave the 'mom face' and they quit it. Behind them Oleg was getting similar treatment from Roland and Finn. I gave him a nod as I walked off to the gym again. Batou was making faces but opted not to say anything. The kids on the other hand were discussing where we should go on our date. They all seemed to agree that it had to be a nocturnal location since it would ensure privacy. Nobs or maybe Osteria Villa. I retorted that Kirigan and Kaz will be a problem. Angus concurred but Annie seemed skeptical till Batou remembered the day Kirigan asked me to dance and I had refused his offer. I walked off to the bathroom as the kids continued their discussion. I noticed a jealous Jasper and a smiling Oleg. The future is going to be interesting.
