Chapter 16 - Arrangements

Back to the present

The week passed quickly, Karl was sitting in his office, he was wearing a smart formal suit, reflecting his status as an emperor in this emerging empire.

Dawn stood in front of him as he listed this week's report, he seemed to be carrying files containing reports on the kingdom's conditions, although he was just a virtual form, he looked like a professional secretary or assistant

"How are things going in the kingdom, Dawn?" Karl asked, not paying attention to his stupid imitation, and looked at him seriously. "Are there any problems with the arrangement of people? I know it's not easy to accept and there may be some problems"

"Things are going well now, don't worry," Dawn replied. "But there are some dissatisfied voices from the citizens about the distribution of wealth. Some feel that there are those who get more advantages and star points because they donated a large amount of things to the kingdom"

"There's nothing we can do about it, they were smart enough to sell their properties and buy their advantages by donating supplies to the kingdom," Karl said, leaning back in his seat. "Tell the four leaders to try to control the situation and explain the situation to the people, they can also come up with a small advantage to ease the current discontent."

If we allow discontent to build up, it could destabilize the regime. We need to ensure that this period passes peacefully, you can use the chosen ones to calm his family members."

"Well… I told them, this has been a headache for them for some time, there was also some fear from the people on the other side who exchanged their assets for star points,

They are worried that they will not be able to maintain their wealth amidst this discontent, they were afraid that you will give in to the other side and distribute everything equally," added Dawn.

"I am not stupid, nor do I believe in equality between people except in giving them opportunities and the rest is up to them, each person gets his right and what he deserves, equality is not fair, we are in the first stage of construction, we must create an environment in which everyone feels comfortable, but those who do not follow the rules must be punished," said Karl firmly.

Then the conversation moved to another topic "Have reports been prepared on the new positions that we will create? I need to be aware of everything."

"Yes, I have prepared a list of key positions, but there is a need for more discussion on how to distribute them well. I think we must make sure that all categories are represented," said Dawn.

"It is true, we need to focus on exploiting the diverse abilities of people, we must establish a system that encourages contribution, so that everyone feels a sense of belonging quickly, but, we must keep things under control," said Karl.

After a moment of thought, Karl continued, "Are there any reports of people who are fit for use? Someone who can carry my ambitions and be part of my long-term plan?"

"I think we have some options. Some individuals show excellence in some aspects, but we need to evaluate them more carefully," Dawn replied.

As Dawn spoke with Karl, the elderly Sean was walking under the guidance of his guide towards his workplace. It had been a week since they had arrived on the ship and it was time to assign them to their positions.

They were moving through wide corridors lit by bright white lights. Everything around him reflected the technological advancements of the future. Despite seeing all of this in this week, he was still impressed.

Along the way, they passed several security checkpoints where they were carefully screened by advanced sensors and guards equipped with the latest technology. Security was stricter the closer they got to important locations.

"This lab is the heart of research in the Empire, Mr. Sean," the guide said with a smile, sensing the amazement in Sean's eyes. "Here you will find some of the best scientists in the world, and equipment that has only been used in the largest projects, or you have never seen before, you should know that our empire is a civilization above Earth..."

Old Sean smiled as he listened to the guide's talk about the empire, he felt a tone of pride in his words, but his mind was busy examining the places around him, as a scientist, he felt that he had reached the place of his dreams. He never imagined that he would live to experience this kind of experiment.

An automatic door opened in front of them, the huge laboratory appeared in front of him, it was like another world, full of scientists busy with their research, and advanced technological devices that he had never seen before, it was as if it was pulsating with limitless creativity. He also heard their talk but only understood 10% of the content of the words.

The guide finally stopped in front of a large office, where a middle-aged man, in a formal appearance, was waiting for them. He respectfully introduced himself, "Allow me to introduce you to the General Commander of the Laboratory, Mr. Randall," the guide said, and greeted him, then passed a card to the commander and left after nodding his head.

Randall smiled warmly and extended his hand to shake Shawn's hand. "Welcome, Dr. Shawn. I've heard a lot about you, and we're happy to have you join us in this place. We could do well to benefit from your expertise."

Sean took a quick look around the place and then looked back at Randall, saying with some regret, "This place is impressive. I never imagined that I would see a laboratory this advanced. But I also realize that I'm getting old, and I don't know how long I'll be around to see the fruits of this labor."

Randall smiled gently, then said in a calm tone with some meaning, "I understand you completely, we were all like that when we joined the Empire, but don't worry, Dr. Shawn. A piece of advice from me, after you finish your work today, visit the Empire store, there are things that will benefit you."

Shawn looked at him in confusion, not fully understanding what that meant, but he nodded in agreement, and decided that he would postpone thinking about it until he finished his working hours.

After exchanging a short conversation with Randall, Shawn immersed himself in the work, immersed in the atmosphere of the laboratory and its research, with a feeling he had not felt since the first day he entered the laboratory at the university and conducted his first experiment.

It was an indescribable feeling for a geek like him.
