Chapter 20 - Choice

"Oh, I've heard about this thing and many people have mentioned it to me, they even urged me to check it out when I get back, but they didn't explain the details to me." Allen suddenly spoke as if he remembered something.

"Me too, let's go in and take a look." Linda agreed with him and then entered the store.

Allen looked inside the store at the empty syringe and the bottle filled with blue liquid, and he looked surprised: "3000 units for a syringe? That's a lot, as you asked, three thousand star points are equivalent to 30,000 dollars according to the currency on Earth."

Linda looked at the syringe for a long time before calmly replying: "It may have special uses, but I don't think anyone would buy it without knowing the reason. What's certain is that its price suggests that it's not for normal use."

She then turned to look for someone who could explain the role of this syringe.

Elsewhere in the empire, a military unit was preparing for special training. Inside a huge camp equipped with the latest technology, Kevin, the dark-skinned soldier with a strong build, was sitting in front of a metal box, decorated with the Empire's emblem.

He slowly opened the box, and the same syringe that Linda and Allen were looking at in the store appeared in front of him.

He stared at it for a moment, remembering his military commander's instructions about that syringe, and how it was considered an important tool, especially in the ranks of the military forces. It was given to new soldiers for free as they underwent daily training and it was a priority for each one of them to be strong to be able to protect the Empire.

They knew that it had a direct effect on their bodies, and that it unlocked the lock in their genes so that they could advance in strength, but the Empire was not satisfied with that, to speed up the promotion process, it added two discs to them that helped stimulate their capabilities more and promote them by at least 0.2 degrees.

Kevin stood for a moment contemplating the syringe, trying to comprehend what he had heard from his commander in the previous training. The instructions were clear, 'This injection will change the way you think and react, and perhaps give you unprecedented endurance, but it comes with some risks, as his commander stated seriously that the side effects were not fully known.'

"This injection represents the next stage in our development as a military force," the commander said to the row of soldiers who were listening intently. "It is not for the weak, nor for those who cannot bear to sacrifice. You will feel changes in yourselves, perhaps even in your actions and thoughts, all because we are trying to build the perfect soldier for difficult missions."

Those words came back to Kevin's mind as he held the injection between his strong fingers. He felt a sense of dread and tension, but he did not express any concern. To him, this was his destiny as a soldier of the Empire, to give everything he had, even his body, in order to achieve his country's goals.

Without hesitation, he stuck the injection in his arm. He felt as if the ants were spreading and crawling from the injection site and spreading all over his body.

Every cell in his body seemed to explode and then renew and be reborn. It was as if he was jumping from fire to water and back to fire and back to water again. An endless cycle.

After a long time, he stood up, gritting his teeth and his body seemed full of sweat. He took a breath and felt his body. He did not find any change except that he felt light as if he had lost a heavy load. Although it seemed like a psychological and unreal feeling, he felt this way.

He tried to look for any side effects or something strange in his body, but he did not find anything. He was a little surprised, as he felt the leader's description of this injection as dangerous.

But now, even with this pain, he could only feel that his cells and body parts had only renewed. Everything that happened was normal, so the question here is, 'Did he take the wrong injection?'

After some thought, he smiled as he walked out of his room. "It seems like it was a test."

Kevin suddenly understood the situation and smiled. It seems that all the commander's words were just asking them if they wanted to stay or not, and all of this was for the sake of the empire. They are just new recruits, it is natural that they do not have a great sense of belonging to the empire.

But this test will determine their position and whether they are willing to give up everything for the sake of the empire they joined or not.

Kevin then entered the hall where the commander was and found two standing in front of him. He knew that they were recruits like him, so he stood next to them and saluted, then stood at attention.

"Welcome, soldier. It seems that you have decided." The commander only said one sentence sternly, but with a slight smile. He had a muscular and strong body, from which emanated a great sense of oppression, which Kevin and the rest had never felt before.

"Yes sir," Kevin replied in an excited and serious voice and stood attentively waiting for orders. It seemed that his idea was correct. It was a test.

After a while, the rest gathered. There were 1000 of them, and only 887 people were here. The rest had given up, whether because they were afraid of the side effects or because they no longer trusted the empire and the injection or for other reasons.

Then, Aaron, the commander, began to explain the training program. He stood in front of a brick wall and talked about the injection and its effectiveness.

"This injection is the result of the Emperor's father's pure work. He discovered a locked gene in our human bodies. I don't know the details and don't understand scientific things, but he came up with this injection to help open that lock.

As you can see, after opening the lock, you feel like you've unlocked some shackles. The limits of humans don't exceed rank 0.9, which is the division of the Emperor's status to separate the ranks of the strong. Before the injection, it was impossible to break through the rank.

But now it has become possible to break through. With some training, everyone here will break through. When you reach rank 1, your strength and all aspects of your body will double, and your average lifespan will increase to more than 180 years."

Here, he stopped to give them room to absorb what he was saying. This news was a shock to him at first as well, and it was fun to see their shocked faces in front of him.

This is what actually happened. Everyone here opened their mouths in shock and looked at each other, and they thought he was just joking, but the reality was different. Aaron looks serious

Kevin was also shocked on the side as he heard Aaron's words, he took a breath and then smiled excitedly,
