As the rainwater filled his military uniform, he stepped on the ground. Each step is like a heartbeat, resonating within his heart. It had been half a month since Pepper Britt was trapped in the silent place.
Pepper lifted her dark eyes, looking at the damp ceiling, and listening to the noises outside. Then her dry lips finally made a smile as she saw the sunlight for the first time. Someone who she had been waiting for finally came.
She began to top the wall with her slender finger. Three long and three short taps, it was the code for help, meanwhile, outside of the wall. A rescue mission for women and children was about to end. The place is about to be cleared, and nothing is left behind. The Elite team is requested to withdraw.
The man with black eyes looked up at the sky and replied in a deep voice. He was neat and dressed in all black. His long legs were encased in rain-soaked black pants, the ends of which were tied tightly around the military boots.
The person appeared wild, fierce, and unbelievably handsome. With an ardent running into his body, Vincent Fox looked in a different place from the night sky, and he was about to withdraw. Suddenly, his expression changed, and he took off his earphones.
After a while. With a flashlight on, Vincent bent down and walked into the cave. The cover of the basement was lifted and rainwater poured in like the sound of the wind. The place was small and only one person could go through it. The air inside was not circulating well either, filled with a moldy smell that made it uncomfortable to stay.
There is no light inside when the flashlight moves around inside. Vincent saw a little girl bound by an iron chain like a small animal. So then and frail, with disheveled hair and pale lips tightly pressed together. When she looked over, her dark eyes were cold and deep. Like a wild animal, somewhat untamed.
But suddenly, the wildness faded. When taking a closer look, her eyes were as black as ink, pure and clear like crystal. As she had not seen light for a long time, her eyes felt uncomfortable for a moment but soon wide. And then, she softly smiled at him, and asked with her hoarse and submissive voice, "Mr... are you here to rescue me?"
Vincent was too stunned to speak. Suddenly, he felt a dull ache, as if struck by a heavy object, a very uncomfortable feeling. Why was such a young girl treated like this? Vincent approached her with the flashlight in his hand, softened his voice as much as possible, and asked, "Were you also kidnapped? What is your name?"
"I'm Pepper. Mr, are you a policeman?" Pepper replied softly with a look for survival in her eyes. Vincent replied, "No."
The light in the little girl's eyes dimmed a little but quickly brightened again. "But, you've come here... can you save me?" She asked. Vincent saw a glimmer in her eyes. The light was the yearning for life, and Vincent was her light, the only light to rescue her from that horrible place.
Vincent put away the dull pain in his heart, he reached out pulled the iron chain around her waist, and said. "I don't have the key, so I can't open it. But I have a gun. Pepper, you are a brave girl, right? I will use the gun to break it."
Pepper nodded, "I'm not afraid." "Great! I'm proud of you." Vincent immediately praised her. He didn't mind her dirty and messy appearance. Vincent reached out and protected Pepper's dirty and messy little head in his arms, covered her ears with one hand, and whispered, "Don't be afraid."
Bang! With a gunshot sounded the iron chain was broken in half. Vincent immediately removed the chain from her waist. The girl swayed as she stood up and then she suddenly pounced into his arms and said with soft voice. "Mr, I'm out of strength...
