A few minutes later, everyone looked at each other, not knowing what to say. After a while, Rex said with a gloomy face, "Really? Vincent, do you want to take this girl back to the headquarters?" Vincent looked over with his slightly cold gaze "She has nowhere else to go."
The look in Rex's eyes... 'but our headquarters.' Vincent looked at Rex and said, "I have the final say." And looked at the little girl who had been grabbing his clothes for a long time. Vincent then whispered, " Pepper, would you like to stay with me until we find your family?"
"Whatever happens, I'll go with you," Pepper said. She was well-behaved, and her eyes were so bright. She trusted Vincent very much. Vincent was surprised. It was the trust that made him not let go of Pepper. Rex was speechless.
He also felt shocked. "Wait, are the little girls nowadays as bold as her?" Vincent was known as so formidable that even the king of hell would steer clear. Yet, this recently rescued girl, instead of fear, wants to go with him?
And more surprising was Vincent agreed. Rex's jaw almost dropped in disbelief. It must be because of his approach. How could Vincent have such a soft side? The night sky is pouring rain. They had come as a whole team of people, and on the way back, there was an additional little girl, Pepper who willingly followed Vincent.
As for the criminals who were dealt a blow and all the rescued women and children, they were taken away by another car and properly handled and resettled. "Hey, little girl, why are you following Vincent? Vincent is a young man and he doesn't know how to take care of a child." Rex laughed as they got in the car. This mission was completed and everyone in the team was in a good mood. Especially Rex, who was the most cheerful.
Fidel looked at Rex and said, "Watch your mouth. If Vincent gets angry, he'll make you clean the toilet. Let's see whether you are still impudent?" "Umm, I'm just trying to play a joke since I have nothing else to do," Rex muttered, but he didn't say anything more.
Vincent looked over them with a cold warning. Because of the rain, Pepper's clothes were also wet and she hadn't changed yet. She held a bottle of mineral water and a bread roll, eating them piece by piece. When she heard Rex's words, she looked up and said softly. "I'm nineteen, not a little girl anymore."
Rex looked at her in surprise, despite her petite figure, she called her nineteen. Rex was shocked and everyone in the car looked at her in disbelief. Vincent also glanced over, clearly not expecting this small girl to be nineteen years old.
"Yes, it's my birthday today. It is past seven o'clock now. I'm officially Nineteen," the little girl said calmly, facing the disbelief look of so many eyes, without any discomfort. She continued eating her food and drinking the water.
If she wasn't genuinely innocent, then she had a bit of a bossy style. Quite calm and formidable. Rex was speechless. He didn't want to say anything anymore! How could this poor Pepper, look like a little girl at Nineteen?
"The water is cold, don't drink too much," Vincent spoke up, looking at his watch. "We're ten minutes away from the camp, where we can have meals." As the leader of the team, Vincent was used to giving orders, but he didn't know how to comfort others.
But facing this disheveled nineteen-year-old girl, he unexpectedly softened for a moment. "Also, your clothes are all wet and can't be worn anymore. Go take a shower when we get to the camp." After a while, Vincent looked at her messy hair, "Also, go get a haircut."
The little girl immediately put down the water and obediently nodded. "Okay, Mr, I'm all yours." This shocked everyone on the team once again, especially Rex, feeling terribly uneasy. He coughed and lowly said, "Vincent, this... doesn't seem appropriate, right?"
They were all rough men, and it wasn't convenient for a little girl to be with them like this. Furthermore, despite Vincent's remarkable presence as an 'all-around man', at the age of twenty- six, he had no experience in raising a daughter.
"Shut up," Vincent glanced at him and handed a tissue to Pepper. "Wipe yourself." Pepper obediently nodded. "Thank you, Mr." Unable to bear it any longer, Rex was mouthy again and then spoke up. "Hey, Nineteen-year-old little girl, can I ask how were you locked up?"
Pepper lowered her head, with a glimmer of extreme coldness flashed in her pitch-black eyes. Betrayal, drugging, trafficking! If those damn bastards didn't inject her with drugs every day, she wouldn't have survived these past two weeks in such difficult circumstances.
Also, her parent were all impressive. She guarded against everyone but ignored her own family. Taking a deep breath and another one, Pepper pushed down the anger in her heart. She tugged at her sleeves, and after thinking for a moment she said earnestly. "I don't remember."
Rex was speechless. No way, Rex looked at her and he didn't believe her, that she didn't remember anything. Just as he was going to ask again, Vincent looked at a place to park the jeep not far ahead and said, "We've arrived. Get out of the car."
