As the sun began to rise, casting golden hues over the horizon, Ronan Figarland stood at the bow of the ship, gazing out at the endless expanse of water. It had been three months since he left Mary Geoise, and in that time, he had learned much about the world outside the sheltered life he had known. The ship rocked gently beneath him, its sails catching the morning breeze. His heart raced at the thought of confronting real pirates for the first time.
"Ronan!" Lila called, breaking his reverie. She ran up to him, her eyes wide with curiosity. "Do you think we'll see a real pirate ship?"
"Maybe," he replied, forcing a smile. "But we need to be careful. These pirates won't be like the ones in the stories."
"Will you fight them?" she asked, her expression shifting from excitement to concern.
"I will," he said, feeling a mix of determination and anxiety. "But remember, you have to stay back and let the adults handle it, alright?"
"Okay!" she chirped, but he could see the spark of adventure in her eyes.
As they approached the island, the air grew thick with tension. Ronan gathered the team—a mix of Cipher Pol agents and high-ranking Marines—aboard. Among them was Lucci, whose cold demeanor contrasted sharply with Smoker's straightforward attitude. They huddled together, discussing their strategy.
"We need to approach quietly," Lucci instructed, his voice low and deliberate. "Underestimating the enemy could lead to disaster."
Smoker nodded in agreement. "The pirates might have a lookout. We need to take them out before we make our move."
Ronan listened intently, absorbing their words. The weight of his lineage felt heavier than ever, but he steeled himself, reminding himself of the training he had undergone. This was his chance to prove himself.
Before setting off, Ronan turned to Lila. "You'll stay here on the ship with a few guards. It's too dangerous for you to come with us."
Her face fell. "But I want to help!"
"I know," he said gently, kneeling to meet her gaze. "But you'll be safer here. Promise me you'll listen to the guards."
Lila sighed but nodded, understanding the seriousness of the situation. Ronan felt a pang of guilt as he turned away, leaving her with the guards. It wasn't just a duty; it felt like a weight pressing down on him, the burden of being both a protector and a warrior.
The ship anchored off the rocky shores of the island, and Ronan could see the jagged cliffs looming in the distance. The pirates had made their home in a dilapidated fortress, its crumbling walls barely concealing the chaos within. As they disembarked, Ronan felt a knot of anxiety tighten in his stomach. This was it—the moment he had trained for.
They moved stealthily through the dense forest, shadows cloaking their approach. Ronan could hear the distant sounds of laughter and shouting, a stark reminder of the chaos that lay ahead. His heart pounded as he glanced back at the ship, a mix of determination and concern coursing through him.
"Stay focused," he reminded himself. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for what was to come. "We need to gather intel before we make a move."
They reached a vantage point overlooking the pirate camp. Ronan's eyes narrowed as he observed the scene below. Pirates were milling about, some drinking and boasting, while others tended to their weapons and supplies. Anger surged within him—these men were a threat to innocent lives, and he had to stop them.
"Let's split into pairs," Smoker suggested, his voice firm. "We'll gather as much information as we can."
Ronan nodded, pairing up with Lucci. As they moved cautiously, weaving through the underbrush, Ronan felt the burden of responsibility weighing heavily on him. He couldn't afford to let anything happen to Lila, even from a distance.
The atmosphere was tense as they made their way through the camp. Ronan's heart raced at the sight of the pirates. He could feel their energy, a chaotic blend of bravado and menace. The moment was electric; he was no longer just a Celestial Dragon but a part of something larger.
"Ronan, look!" Lucci whispered, pointing towards a group of pirates gathered around a fire. Their loud laughter echoed through the air, a cacophony of arrogance and defiance. "This is our chance."
Taking a deep breath, Ronan nodded. They crept closer, ears perked for any signs of danger. The pirates appeared oblivious to their presence, their focus fixed on their revelry.
As they neared the edge of the clearing, Ronan's stomach churned with unease. He could feel the weight of his lineage pressing down on him, a reminder of the power he wielded—and the responsibility it entailed.
"Let's create a diversion," Lucci suggested, his eyes glinting with determination. "We need to draw their attention away from our main goal."
Ronan nodded, adrenaline coursing through him. "I'll distract them. You wait for my signal."
With a swift motion, he picked up a rock, hurling it into the darkness beyond the camp. The sound echoed, and several pirates turned in confusion. "What was that?" one shouted, rushing toward the noise.
"Now!" Lucci commanded, and they sprang into action. The distraction worked; the pirates were now divided, some rushing towards the sound while others remained oblivious.
As chaos erupted around them, Ronan felt a surge of adrenaline. He fought alongside Lucci, their movements synchronized as they dispatched unsuspecting pirates with precision. The clash of steel rang out, a harsh symphony of battle that fueled Ronan's resolve.
"Keep moving!" Lucci shouted, his voice steady amidst the chaos. Ronan nodded, pushing through the ranks of pirates with newfound confidence. Each swing of his blade felt powerful, a culmination of the training he had undergone.
Yet, even as he fought, a part of him wrestled with doubt. Would his actions here truly make a difference? He was a Celestial Dragon, a symbol of privilege and authority. Was he becoming the very monster he had been trained to fight?
"My Lord! Behind you!" Lucci's shout broke through his thoughts. Ronan turned just in time to see a pirate charging at him, a vicious grin on his face. With instinct taking over, he sidestepped, allowing the pirate's momentum to carry him past.
"Not today," Ronan muttered, regaining his stance as he pivoted, thrusting his blade forward. The pirate stumbled, shock registering on his face before Ronan's blade found its mark.
The rush of combat fueled Ronan's determination, but the moral conflict simmered beneath the surface. Each life he took weighed on him, a reminder of the fragility of existence.
In the midst of the melee, Ronan spotted Lila's ship in the distance, the guards watching anxiously. He imagined her small face peering over the edge, concern etched into her features. The thought grounded him, anchoring him amidst the chaos. He couldn't allow this to become a battle of senseless brutality.
As the fight raged on, Ronan's focus sharpened. He was no longer just a boy playing at heroism; he was a warrior with a purpose. With every swing of his sword, he carved out a path not just for himself, but for those who looked up to him.
"Sir! Over here!" Smoker shouted, motioning him to join him. The captain was locked in battle with two pirates, each strike ringing with the weight of authority.
Ronan rushed over, feeling the heat of the moment. "I'm with you!" he called, their blades crashing together as they fought side by side. The camaraderie was invigorating, reminding him of the bonds forged in battle.
The tide of the skirmish began to turn. The pirates, once boisterous and reckless, now faltered under the pressure of the coordinated attack. Ronan felt a surge of confidence as he fought alongside his allies, each move fluid and deliberate.
But just as victory seemed within reach, a chilling laughter echoed through the chaos. "You think you can take us down so easily?" A towering figure emerged from the shadows, the captain of the pirate crew.
His presence sent a shiver down Ronan's spine. This man exuded danger, a palpable aura of chaos that seemed to distort the air around him. The pirate captain smirked, his eyes glinting with malice. "Let's see how you handle a real challenge!"
Ronan's heart raced as he stepped forward, ready to face the looming threat. The battle was far from over, and he was determined to see it through.
As Ronan, Lucci, Smoker, and the others moved deeper into the cave, the air became heavier, with an unpleasant stink of sweat and rot clinging to the walls. Faint laughter and the clinking of bottles rang ahead, signifying the pirate camp. It wasn't long before they entered a huge cavern, lit by flickering lights embedded in the stony ground. Pirates lounged around makeshift tables, some passed out drunk while others sharpened their weapons, completely unaware of the impending disaster.
Ronan halted, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. The presence of Drake "Thunderclaw" Wraith was almost palpable, even before he laid eyes on the pirate captain. His senses had sharpened in the past year, and he could feel the strength of the man at the heart of the pirate camp. The knowledge of Wraith's newfound Devil Fruit power weighed on him, but he kept his face calm.
The others stayed silent while waiting for his signal. Smoker's cigars glowed dimly in the low light, and Rob Lucci's steely eyes examined the scene, calculating. "This is it," Ronan realized, the weight of the situation seeping in. "There is no turning back now. This is what I've trained for. But..." His thoughts returned to Lila's wide-eyed innocence. He had promised her safety, but now he was about to kill people without hesitation. "Does that make me any better than these pirates?"
A soft sound, almost imperceptible, drew Ronan's attention. He turned his head slightly and saw movement at the mouth of the cave-a small figure sneaking into the shadows behind them.
Lila!!
The tiny girl had disobeyed him by sneaking past the guards. She was following them, her little form disappearing into the shadows, her eyes full with purpose. She was watching them--and him. "Damn it, Lila, why didn't you stay on the ship?" Ronan's heart was racing, but he couldn't afford to lose focus right now. "I have to end this quickly, before she gets hurt."
He lifted his hand, signaling Lucci and Smoker. The smoker spoke first, his voice low but forceful. "You are in command, Lord Ronan. "What is the plan?" Ronan took a breath. "We hit them quickly and hard. Lucci, take the ones on the left. Smoker, cover the right flank. I will deal with anyone who comes directly at us. Lucci twisted her lips into a chilly smile. "Understood." Smoker nodded and crushed his cigar beneath his boot. "Let's get this over with."
Lucci was the first to move. He disappeared from sight, blending into the shadows with the silent grace of a predator. Before the nearest pirate even realized what was happening. Lucci had already transformed into his half-leopard form, his fingers morphing into deadly claws. In a single swipe, he slashed through two pirates, blood splattering the cave walls.
"W-What the-?!" one of the pirates screamed, but his voice was cut off by the sudden pressure of Lucci's iron grip around his throat. The man's eyes bulged as Lucci lifted him effortlessly. a cruel grin spreading across his face.
"Too slow," Lucci muttered, crushing the man's windpipe with a swift twist.
Ronan couldn't help but look at the Cipher Pol agent and feel the raw strength flowing from him. "So this is what he's capable of..." Ronan paused, taken aback by the apparent brutality of Lucci's fighting style. "And I'm supposed to surpass that." On the other hand, Smoker moved with ruthless efficiency. His torso emitted massive smoke clouds as he surged into the fray. A bunch of pirates swung their swords at him, but the blades flew harmlessly through his invisible body.
"Is that all you've got?" Smoker growled, grabbing one pirate by the throat and slamming him into the ground. His smoke-filled hands moved like vipers, wrapping around another pirate's legs and hurling him into the nearest wall with bone-shattering force. The man slumped to the ground, unconscious, while the rest of the pirates backed away, terror in their eyes.
"These men don't stand a chance, Ronan thought, as he unsheathed his sword. "But the real fight hasn't started yet.
As Lucci and Smoker dealt with the smaller pirates, Ronan raced forward, his blade cutting through the air with lethal precision. The clang of steel resonated through the cave as he faced his first opponent, a grizzled pirate with a scar down his face. The man hissed and swung his axe with savage force, but Ronan easily parried the stroke, his body moving with the grace of a swordsman much older than him. "Focus," Ronan reminded himself; blocking another punch. "This is only the beginning."
With a swift counter, he knocked the axe from the pirate's hands and delivered a sharp kick to his chest, sending the man sprawling backward. But before Ronan could press the attack, another pirate came at him from the side, slashing wildly with twin daggers.
Ronan ducked low, narrowly avoiding the blades. "They're fast, but untrained," he noted, sidestepping the next attack. With a single fluid motion, he drove his sword into the man's side, ending the fight in an instant.
Ronan glanced at Lila as the pirate collapsed, grasping his wound. She remained hidden in the darkness, her big eyes fixed on him, watching his every movement. "She shouldn't be seeing this," Ronan reflected bitterly, but there was no turning back now. "This is what I have to do."
Just as Ronan turned back to face the remaining pirates, a deafening roar echoed through the cave. The ground shook beneath their feet, and the flickering torchlight cast a monstrous shadow across the walls. From the far end of the cavern, a massive figure emerged-Drake Wraith, the captain of the Wraith Marauders.
The man was massive, his body rippling with muscle, but what caught Ronan's attention was the transformation overtaking him. His skin thickened and darkened, and his limbs extended into powerful, clawed arms. Wraith's form shifted, growing larger by the second until he stood as a towering beast-a full-fledged Allosaurus.
"So, this is the power of the Ryu Ryu no Mi," Ronan thought, his heart pounding in his chest. "An Ancient Zoan... no wonder his bounty was so low before.
Wraith's beady eyes fixed on Ronan, his dinosaur form looming over the battlefield. "So, you're the brat they sent to take me down?" His voice rumbled like thunder, echoing off the walls. "I'll enjoy tearing you apart, Celestial Dragon or not.
The pirates around him laughed cruelly, emboldened by their captain's power. Ronan swallowed hard, but his grip on his sword never wavered.
"I cannot lose here. "Not in front of her." Ronan's attention returned to Lila one final time. "I will not let her down."
