"Pikachu is so beautiful."
Hearing what Evan said, Pikachu immediately jumped into his arms with a puzzled look on its face.
"Pi-ka?"
What did Evan mean?
When Pikachu saw the pajamas Isla was wearing, it was taken aback.
What a giant Pikachu face!
"Pika-pika!"
This is definitely not my companion!
Evan sighed in exasperation.
"Alright, alright, move along."
Who said you're my companion anyway?
Why do you get so close whenever Pikachu is mentioned?
Immature.
Isla's face turned red, and she quickly covered the video chat window with her fingers.
"Evan!!"
Her voice was laced with irritation.
Isla was clearly upset.
She had completely forgotten she was wearing Pikachu-themed pajamas while video chatting with Evan.
So careless!
Evan couldn't help but chuckle at her flustered reaction. After teasing her for a moment, he finally shifted the conversation to more serious matters.
The two chatted from about 9 o'clock until close to 10 o'clock before ending the call.
After finishing the call with Isla, Evan decided to rest. Meanwhile, the Internet was abuzz with activity.
News about the appearance of legendary Pokémon in Water City spread like wildfire. There were even some distant footage captured by onlookers.
Evan and Violet were seen directing the battle between Pokémon and two legendary Pokémon.
One particular moment stood out—the scene where Evan managed to Mega Evolve two Pokémon simultaneously.
This left many viewers in shock.
Two Pokémon Mega Evolving together?
Isn't he afraid of draining all his energy?
But after watching the battle, many couldn't help but marvel at his ability.
Especially those who owned Mega Stones themselves. They looked at the stones in their hands, puzzled. Why does nothing happen when others use them, but I feel completely drained each time?
Although the video was taken from afar, the appearance of a shiny Gardevoir during its Mega Evolution was unmistakable.
The radiant transformation captivated enthusiasts, leaving them ecstatic—like seeing their favorite victorious hero on screen.
Beyond this, some viewers noticed something peculiar about Evan. The blue glow surrounding him during the Mega Evolutions wasn't a special effect—it was psychic energy.
This revelation sparked widespread curiosity.
Who is Evan?
A Psychic Elite?
Or perhaps a new, incredibly talented trainer?
Speculations even arose about whether Evan would participate in this year's national competition.
Though the competition hadn't officially begun, excitement was already building—especially with rumors of champions from previous years returning to challenge the Elite Four.
People began speculating wildly. Perhaps the Elite Four of the China would undergo a major shakeup this year. The seasoned Elites could step down, paving the way for new talent.
Meanwhile, after ending her call with Evan, Isla habitually browsed the forums and stumbled across the video.
At a glance, she recognized who the trainers in the video were—Violet and Evan.
Did Evan really battle legendary Pokémon today?
Her confusion quickly turned to mild annoyance.
Why hadn't he mentioned anything during their call?
Isla pouted, dissatisfied. She considered messaging Violet to confirm but glanced at the time.
Better not, she decided.
"Forget it. I'll just ask Evan tomorrow."
Bothering Violet at this hour would only earn her a scolding.
Isla could already imagine Violet's exasperated response:
"Even if it's you, Isla, don't disturb me when I'm resting!"
"Ugh!" Isla chuckled softly, picturing Violet's grumpy face in her mind.
Putting her phone away, she lay down and prepared for bed.
The next morning, Isla was up bright and early, preparing energy cubes for Evan. Once she had everything ready, she sent the package off. Then she made her way to Evan's breeding house.
While walking , she couldn't help but marvel at the transformed landscape below.
"Truly remarkable," she thought with admiration.
"Evan —what an amazing trainer."
The situation became more animated as the morning unfolded.
For those who hadn't been to the area before, Su Yu's breeding house looked like a high-tech laboratory. Meanwhile, Aunt Jenn and a few helpers were busy organizing the new store early in the day.
Isla reached the backyard of Evan's breeding house. Evan, who was already awake and tending to his Pokémon, noticed her arrival and greeted her with a cheerful smile.
"Good morning, Pikachu Face."
Hearing his teasing words, Isla's cheeks flushed with anger.
"Again with this?!" she fumed.
Evan couldn't contain his laughter at the scene. "My apologies," he said, still chuckling. "It's just that your pajamas left a lasting impression."
Isla shot him an exasperated look, her patience worn thin. Deciding not to dignify his joke with a response, she turned on her heel.
"Kirlia, we're leaving!" she huffed. "Let's go to Aunt Jenn's."
At her signal, her Kirlia quickly followed, leaving Evan scratching his head in mild confusion but ultimately getting back to his tasks.
After ensuring all his Pokémon were fed and cared for, Evan prepared to leave as well. He called Machamp and Lucario, tasking them with carrying baskets of berries. Together, they headed towards the store near the intersection. These berries were intended for sale, with proceeds supporting the orphanage.
By the time Evan arrived at the store, Isla was already there, assisting Aunt Jenn with organizing cabinets. Sitting with the other helpers, she chatted animatedly, though she threw Evan a pointed look when he entered.
Aunt Jenn greeted him warmly. "Oh, Evan, I nearly forgot to tell you earlier," she said. "Uncle and the others confirmed they'll return tomorrow."
Evan nodded. "Got it." He then turned to his Pokémon. "Place these berries here for now. Afterward, head back and bring more," he instructed. To Aunt Jenn, he added, "Set up the berries on the shelves. If there's any leftover stock, just send it back, and Machamp can handle it tomorrow."
Aunt Jenn nodded without hesitation, rallying the others to arrange the berries in the store.
As Isla glanced at Lucario assisting with the task, she raised an eyebrow, a smirk forming on her lips.
"Senior Evan, you've turned Lucario into a glorified laborer," she teased. "Sister Violet's going to have a lot to say when she sees this."
Evan responded with a playful shrug. "I'll have you know, Lucario's Mega Evolution isn't just for battling."
He grinned mischievously and continued, "Lucario cooks better meals than I do, and it's great at hauling things around. Honestly, I have no idea how Violet trained it to be this skilled."
Isla blinked in surprise. "Lucario… cooks?" she asked incredulously.
Evan nodded, a hint of pride in his voice. "And it's delicious too."
