The Mega Stone of Gardevoir and Gallade—this is what Violet took out.
"For me to use?" Evan looked at Violet in surprise.
Gallade and Gardevoir also turned their attention to the stones, sensing an instinctual attraction emanating from them.
Violet nodded. "That's right, I'll lend them to you. Let me tell you, these are very expensive. Give them back when you're done."
Hearing this, Evan laughed. "How much? You can just pass them on to me. You won't need them anyway, right?"
Violet didn't have Gardevoir or Gallade, so Evan thought she might as well transfer the stones to him. After considering, Violet agreed.
"In that case, you shouldn't charge you for the next batch of energy cubes. Here, take them quickly." She handed the box directly to Evan.
Evan accepted the box, finding the terms agreeable. The value of the energy cubes was nearly equivalent to the cost of the Mega Stones, so it balanced out. Holding the Mega Stones, he passed them to Gardevoir and Gallade.
"Take them. Keep them safe—these will be your trump cards from now on," he said.
The two Pokémon nodded, understanding the value of the items. Pikachu, watching from the side, looked envious, even though it didn't fully comprehend what they were.
Violet spoke again, "You know the conditions for Mega Evolution, right? You already have the Key Stone, but the second condition is a deep bond between the Trainer and the Pokémon. Can you manage that?" She frowned, recalling that Evan had only recently caught Gardevoir and Gallade.
"Are you sure you can use them?" Violet asked skeptically.
Evan glanced at the Key Stone in his hand. "A deep bond? Isn't that just a connection of minds? How hard can that be? What do you think, Gardevoir, Gallade?"
As he spoke, Evan's eyes glowed blue, his psychic energy radiating from the Key Stone. The stones in Gardevoir and Gallade's hands began to glow as well.
The two Pokémon hesitated momentarily before understanding. For a normal Trainer, meeting such a condition would indeed be challenging. But Evan, with his psychic abilities, could bypass the need for a traditional bond.
Using his psychic connection, Evan synchronized his energy with theirs. The Mega Stones linked to the Key Stone through beams of light. Violet's eyes widened.
"Are you insane?" she exclaimed. "Are you trying to Mega Evolve both of them at the same time? Do you want to drain yourself completely?"
Mega Evolution was known to be taxing, and attempting to sustain two evolutions at once could lead to severe consequences for the Trainer. But Evan remained unfazed.
To Violet's astonishment, the evolution was completed. Gardevoir, now adorned in an elegant black gown, and Gallade, wearing a striking blue cape, stood before them. Their auras radiated immense power, leaving Violet stunned.
"How can they be this strong? This is impossible!" Violet exclaimed.
Evan smirked. "It's because their Mega Evolution is enhanced by my psychic blessings. Their strength grows exponentially!"
This revelation shocked everyone, including Gardevoir and Gallade. They marveled at their newfound power but noticed that Evan's psychic energy was unusually turbulent and challenging to control.
"Your psychic energy is too wild," Violet noted. "No wonder this feels different from other Mega Evolutions."
Before they could delve further into the implications, an explosion echoed from the skies. Startled, Violet snapped out of her thoughts as the situation escalated.
The battle raged on.
Violet quickly looked up at the sky. Her Metagross had been blasted into the ocean by Articuno's Hyper Beam.
This time, she couldn't stay put. "Quickly, let's head to the battlefield!" she shouted.
Evan nodded. "Gardevoir, Gallade, let's go. You can't lose to me again."
Hearing this, Gardevoir and Gallade felt a pang of indignation. What does he mean we can't beat him again? Is he looking down on us?
But as they sensed Evan's immense Psychic power, the two Pokémon fell silent. Indeed, there was nothing wrong with what he said. If they couldn't handle the battle, Evan could step in and end it himself.
Resolving not to dwell on it, they refocused. Now Mega Evolved and boosted by Evan's Psychic, their strength rivaled that of Champion-level Pokémon. Without hesitation, the two vanished and launched themselves into the sky.
Rather than splitting up, Gardevoir and Gallade teamed up on Articuno. The siblings moved in perfect harmony, flanking the Legendary Pokémon. Gallade appeared behind it, crossing his arms as his elbow blades glowed brightly. He then swung hard at Articuno with a powerful Slash.
Articuno's pupils shrank as it tried to evade the sudden attack. However, at that very moment, Gardevoir acted. She used Taunt, unleashing an aura of malicious energy that drew Articuno's focus.
Articuno's eyes glowed red as it momentarily fell under the skill's influence. But being a Legendary Pokémon, it quickly regained its composure and suppressed the effects of the move.
Nevertheless, the brief distraction was enough. Gallade's attack struck Articuno directly, landing two consecutive blows that sent it crashing into the ocean below. The impact created massive waves as the Legendary Pokémon hit the water with immense force.
The result was clear: a successful opening strike.
Violet let out a sigh of relief at the sight. "I'll have Metagross handle Zapdos. I'm counting on you for Articuno," she called to Evan. "And watch out for its Mind Reader and Sheer Cold combo!"
After giving her warning, Violet dashed off to rejoin the fight. Metagross, battered but not defeated, soared out of the water. After a quick glance at the battle in the sky, it flew towards Zapdos, ready to fight alongside its allies.
Meanwhile, Gallade and Gardevoir continued their assault on Articuno. As it struggled to recover in the water, Gallade's eyes flashed blue. Together with Gardevoir, he unleashed a powerful Psychic attack. The dual energy beams struck Articuno and detonated upon impact, sending water splashing tens of meters into the air.
The sea roared as if two missiles had struck. For a moment, the surface was a churning mess of froth and spray. But then, the temperature plummeted.
The water froze over, and Articuno emerged from the icy expanse, its wings glimmering with frost. With a piercing cry, the Legendary Pokémon surged upward, leaving a trail of ice in its wake. Its anger was palpable, and its power had only intensified.
