*Chapter 2: The Dragon's Captive*
Princess Elise found herself in the heart of Elyria, surrounded by dragon nests and ancient ruins. Lord Roshan's advisors, Lyra and Kael, attended to her needs, but their courtesy didn't mask the underlying tension.
"You're a prisoner of war, Princess," Lord Roshan stated, his voice firm but measured. "But I'll offer you comforts and protection, in exchange for cooperation."
Princess Elise's eyes narrowed. "What do you want from me?"
"Information on Nova Terra's alliances and military strength," Lord Roshan replied, his gaze piercing. "And perhaps... something more."
Their conversation was interrupted by a commotion outside. A group of dragons, dissatisfied with Lord Roshan's mercy toward Princess Elise, protested his decision.
"My lord, you're weakening our stance," one dragon argued. "Humans are inferior; we shouldn't coddle them."
Lord Roshan's expression turned cold. "I'll not be swayed by emotion. Princess Elise is a valuable asset, and I'll protect her."
As tensions rose, Princess Elise realized Lord Roshan's position was precarious. His own kind questioned his authority, and his fascination with her threatened to undermine his ruthless reputation.
"Lord Roshan, may I speak?" Princess Elise asked, her voice laced with caution.
"Proceed," Lord Roshan replied, his interest piqued.
"You're not like the dragons I've heard of," Princess Elise said. "You seem... calculated. What drives you?"
Lord Roshan's gaze lingered on hers, his thoughts hidden behind a mask of composure. "Ambition, Princess. And a desire for unity."
Princess Elise's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Unity? Among dragons and humans?"
Lord Roshan's smile hinted at secrets untold. "Perhaps, Princess. Perhaps."
As the conversation ended, Princess Elise couldn't shake the feeling that Lord Roshan's words concealed a deeper purpose.
