Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: The First Awakening

The sound of firewood in the fireplace was the only thing heard in the cabin. Alex rested on the bed, his body still recovering from the battle with Rainer. He had felt energy surge within him during the fight, a strength he hadn't experienced before. But now, as he closed his eyes, exhaustion finally pulled him into sleep.

The world darkened, and he found himself in a vast plain. The full moon hung in the sky, lighting the landscape with an otherworldly glow. Alex breathed deeply, feeling the heavy air, charged with ancient energy. Before him, a tall and powerful figure stood, with dark skin and eyes of a deep blue that shone like stars. His presence was one of authority and strength, but not threatening. It was as if the very air around him bowed in his presence.

"Who are you?" asked Alex, taking a step toward the figure, his voice trembling between awe and curiosity.

The figure looked at him intently, as if evaluating him. "I am part of you. I am your lineage, the first of your blood," he said, his deep voice echoing across the plain. "They called me Fenris, one of the first. And you, Alex, are the last of my line."

Alex stepped back, his mind trying to process what he had just heard. "The last...? My lineage? I... I didn't know I descended from werewolves until recently. How is it possible that I never knew about this?"

Fenris nodded slowly, as if he had expected this response. "Our lineage was hunted, almost completely wiped out. But some survived, hidden among humans, waiting for the moment to rise again. You are that rising, Alex. You are the last connection to the power of the first wolves."

Alex felt pressure in his chest. Everything he had thought about his life, about who he was, was changing. But something in Fenris's words resonated within him, as if he had always known, deep down, that there was something more in his blood.

"The strength you feel is not yours alone," Fenris continued. "Each victory, each battle you win, will bring you closer to our legacy. And with each one, your power will grow."

Suddenly, Fenris raised a hand and around them, Alex saw other werewolves, huge and fierce, fighting among themselves. But with a simple movement, Fenris stopped them. There were no roars or violence, just the powerful will of the leader.

"True power isn't always in physical strength," said Fenris. "It's control over yourself, and over those around you. This is your destiny. You will use this power to lead, to guide your own. But the path is dangerous, and many will try to stop you."

Alex nodded, still amazed by what he was seeing. "And how do I control this power?"

"The key lies within you, in accepting what you are and mastering it. Each time you win, you'll see a mark that will reflect your growth. That is your connection to the legacy of the first ones."

As Fenris spoke, Alex felt warmth in his chest. He looked down and saw how a tattoo began to form, an intricate spiral design that glowed with a soft blue light. It was the mark of his lineage, a symbol of the awakening of his new power.

The dream began to fade, but Fenris's words remained etched in his mind.

Alex woke with a start, his breathing heavy. Morning light was beginning to filter through the cabin window, but something was different. He sat up quickly and, with trembling hands, removed his shirt. There, right on his chest, was the mark he had seen in the dream. It glowed faintly, a reminder of what had happened.

Before he could fully process it, the cabin door opened and Gideon entered. Seeing Alex's expression and the mark on his chest, his face changed immediately.

"That mark..." muttered Gideon, quickly moving closer to observe it better.

Alex looked at him with surprise. "Do you know what it means?"

Gideon frowned, clearly puzzled. "That mark... confirms what I thought. You're descended from the first werewolves."

"The first ones?" Alex repeated, still processing the magnitude of what he was hearing.

Gideon nodded, his expression grave. "There were stories of a line of werewolves who could control their own, not just with strength, but with will. That mark is proof that you've awakened that power."

Alex remained silent, reality hitting him hard. He had defeated Rainer, and that victory had not only given him power but also a responsibility he wasn't sure he could handle.

Gideon came closer, putting a hand on his shoulder. "From now on, each battle will be more than a fight for survival. Each victory will make you stronger, but it will also attract more attention. You must be ready."

Alex nodded slowly, feeling the weight of responsibility in every word from Gideon. He knew the path ahead wouldn't be easy, but one thing was clear: he couldn't ignore his destiny.
