Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Secrets of Power

Dawn was barely peeking over the horizon when Alex headed toward Rainer's cabin. After the fight, his body still ached, but he couldn't stop thinking about everything that had happened. He had shown his strength to the pack, but the fight left him with questions, especially about what was changing within him.

Upon arrival, Rainer was waiting for him, standing by his cabin door, as if he knew Alex would come.

"Glad to see you, kid. I knew you'd show up soon," said Rainer, his voice deep but warm. Alex nodded and entered the cabin without a word. There were many things he wanted to ask, but he didn't know where to start.

Rainer poured two cups of tea and sat at a wooden table in the center of the cabin. Alex settled across from him, feeling a bit nervous.

"I guess you have many questions, Alex," said Rainer while taking a sip of his tea.

Alex nodded. "Yes, especially about what's happening to me. Why do I feel different? After the fight... it's like something inside me has changed."

Rainer looked at him with a slight smile. "That's because you're beginning to awaken your true power. Not all wolves do. In fact, it's quite rare. But you, with your lineage... it's only a matter of time."

"My lineage?" Alex frowned. He knew there was something special about him, but he didn't fully understand what it meant.

Rainer set his teacup on the table and leaned forward. "Wolves like us have abilities that go beyond strength and speed. They're unique gifts, but not all wolves develop them. Only those who are truly powerful, and usually, these abilities don't manifest until a good time has passed since the conversion."

Alex blinked. "So, all wolves have abilities?"

"In theory, yes," Rainer replied. "But the reality is that only the most powerful wolves manage to develop them, and they're few. Three, at most. What you saw in the fight was just the beginning. Your body is adapting, but you still have much to learn."

"And what kind of abilities do wolves have?" asked Alex, increasingly intrigued.

Rainer smiled again, but this time there was a touch of pride in his gaze. "Each wolf is different. No two are alike. But I can show you one of mine."

Rainer stood up and gestured for Alex to follow him. They walked out of the cabin and toward a small clearing in the forest, where there was a huge rock, partially covered in moss.

"Watch," said Rainer.

He stood in front of the rock, raised a hand, and closed his eyes for a moment, as if concentrating all his energy. Suddenly, a flash of light surrounded his hand, and with a quick movement, he threw a punch into the air.

Alex watched, amazed, as an invisible cut traveled through the air, hitting the rock with impressive force. The rock split cleanly in two, as if an invisible sword had cut through it.

"That's what I can do," said Rainer, with a satisfied smile. "This is one of the few gifts I have. It's a technique that channels the wolf's inner energy to create a distance attack."

Alex stared at him with wide eyes. "That's... incredible."

"It is," admitted Rainer, relaxing his stance. "But it doesn't come without effort. This kind of power requires years of training and control. And not everyone manages to master it."

Alex was still impressed by what he had just seen. "And me? Will I have something like that?"

Rainer looked at him seriously. "That will depend on you. As I said before, not all wolves reach their true potential, but you have the lineage. If you keep training and controlling your power, it's very likely you'll awaken your own abilities. And when that happens, you'll become stronger. But you'll also become more dangerous."

The last part of Rainer's words echoed in Alex's mind. More dangerous? To whom? The thought sent a chill down his spine.
