Chapter 16 - Silver's fortitude. 2

Silver, adorned in a striking attire, stood with an air of authority and grace. Her sleek, form-fitting black bodysuit with deep crimson accents highlighted her every movement, while the dramatic cape flowed behind her. The ornate headpiece on her brow glinted under the light, adding a regal touch to her commanding presence.

Beside her, Commander Rosa stood confidently, her eyes focused on the unfolding battle. Silver leaned in slightly, her voice calm and strategic. "Let's not join the fight now," she said, her tone measured and thoughtful. "Let's see if the people we have been paired with got some talent."

Rosa nodded, her expression reflecting agreement and curiosity. Together, they observed the skirmish, evaluating the skills and tactics of their allies. The duo exuded a composed and strategic demeanor, perfectly embodying their roles as leaders and mentors.

The four knights fought valiantly, but the A-rank beast's relentless onslaught soon had them on the back foot. Their armor was dented and scratched, sweat poured down their faces, and their breaths came in ragged gasps. Despite their best efforts, each powerful swipe of the beast sent them stumbling, their previously coordinated attack now scattered and chaotic.

One knight, desperately trying to land a blow, was swatted aside like a rag doll. Another struggled to maintain his footing as the ground shook with each of the beast's thunderous steps. The third knight's spell fizzled out as the beast's energy disrupted his concentration. The fourth, the most seasoned, barked out commands, trying to rally his comrades, but even his efforts couldn't turn the tide.

Standing at a safe distance, Silver and Rosa watched the chaotic scene unfold. Silver sighed, shaking her head with a hint of humor. "Well, it looks like they're having a bit of a rough time," she remarked, her tone light despite the gravity of the situation.

Rosa crossed her arms, a small smile playing on her lips. "You'd think they'd be better prepared for this," she said, her voice tinged with playful exasperation. The two women exchanged amused glances, their confidence unshaken, even as the knights continued to struggle.

Rosa glanced at the struggling knights with an amused smirk. "Alright, boys," she called out, her tone light and teasing. "Step aside and let the professionals handle this." She nudged Silver playfully, a sparkle of humor in her eyes. "Ready to show them how it's done?"

Silver nodded, her expression serious but a hint of a smile playing on her lips. The knights, recognizing their momentary reprieve, moved back with a mix of relief and admiration.

A strong wind swept through the battlefield, catching Silver's cape and sending it billowing dramatically behind her. Her long, silver hair danced in the gust, adding to her already commanding presence. She stood poised and ready, eyes locked on the A-rank beast.

Beside her, Rosa drew her sword with a smooth, practiced motion. The blade gleamed under the sparse light, a testament to its sharpness and Rosa's expertise. She glanced at Silver, a determined glint in her eyes, and nodded.

Rosa moved with a speed that seemed almost unnatural, her form blurring as she closed the distance to the beast in an instant. Her sword arced through the air with deadly precision, aiming for the creature's vulnerable side. But the beast reacted with equal swiftness, raising its massive claws to intercept the strike.

The clash of metal against claws sent a shockwave through the air, reverberating with the sheer force of their impact. Rosa gritted her teeth, her muscles straining as she pushed against the beast's immense strength. The beast's claws, long and formidable, held firm, each side locked in a fierce struggle for dominance.

Sparks flew from the point of contact, illuminating the fierce determination in Rosa's eyes. The ground beneath them trembled with the intensity of their battle, a testament to the incredible power wielded by both combatants. It was a test of endurance and strength, neither side willing to yield.

As Silver dashed into the fray, a mischievous grin spread across her face. "Can't let you steal the spotlight, can I?" she quipped, her voice light and teasing despite the tension in the air. She raised her hands, electricity crackling at her fingertips, ready to join the battle with her unique flair.

Silver's eyes narrowed with focus as she gathered the raw energy around her, forming a spear of crackling lightning. The spear shimmered with electric intensity, illuminating the battlefield in a ghostly blue hue. With a swift, powerful motion, she hurled the spear towards the beast.

The beast, sensing the imminent danger, moved with surprising agility, dodging the spear at the last moment. The lightning spear sizzled past, striking the ground and exploding in a shower of sparks.

At the same moment, the beast swung its massive claws, catching Rosa off-guard. She was thrown back, spinning multiple times through the air before landing gracefully on the ground. Without missing a beat, she surged forward, her speed so great it caused a small crater where she had launched herself.

Determined and unyielding, Rosa closed the distance in an instant, ready to continue the battle with renewed vigor.

The beast opened its massive jaws, sharp teeth glistening as it lunged to bite Rosa. At the last second, Rosa leaped into the air with incredible agility, narrowly avoiding the deadly fangs. She landed near Silver, her eyes wide with alarm.

"Is this thing really an A-rank?" Silver exclaimed, surprise and concern evident in her voice. The beast's sheer power and speed were unlike anything they had encountered before.

Rosa nodded, her expression grim. "It's definitely something higher," she replied, the realization sinking in. They exchanged a determined look, understanding that this fight would require everything they had.

With renewed resolve, both Silver and Rosa prepared to give their all, their combined strength and skills ready to face the formidable opponent.

Silver hovered in the air, her silhouette framed against the dark sky. Her eyes locked onto the beast below as she raised her hand, electricity crackling at her fingertips. In an instant, she vanished, her form dissolving into the air.

The beast, reacting instinctively, swung its massive claws and managed to block the attack from Silver as she reappeared. Sparks flew from the impact, the force of their clash reverberating through the battlefield.

Meanwhile, Rosa stood poised, her eyes closing briefly in concentration. When she opened them, she disappeared, leaving a crater in the ground where she once stood. Reappearing with lightning speed, she struck the beast from the opposite side.

The combined might and strategy of Silver and Rosa forced the beast onto the defensive, its roars of fury echoing through the air.

Red balls of energy began to rise from the ground, shimmering with a fierce glow. Perched on a tree branch, Silver watched the beast with steely determination. The beast swung its massive claws, but one of the red balls struck its arm, throwing it to the side with a forceful impact.

Taking advantage of the moment, Silver raised her hand, summoning spears of rock from the earth. The spears shot toward the beast with deadly precision. As the beast prepared to unleash a roar to counter the attack, Rosa acted swiftly. Using the handle of her sword, she struck the beast's jaw, shutting its mouth with a powerful blow.

The rock spears continued their trajectory, and Rosa, displaying incredible agility, dodged them as they hurtled past. She landed gracefully on the ground, her sword raised, ready to continue the fight.

The beast, battered and bruised from the relentless onslaught, began to weaken. Its massive body heaved with each labored breath, huffing and panting as it struggled to stay upright. Blood oozed from numerous wounds, its once formidable strength now waning.

Rosa, seizing the opportunity, swung her sword with all her might toward the beast's neck. The blade gleamed as it arced through the air, aiming for the vulnerable spot. Just as the sword was about to make contact, Silver raised her hand, manipulating the ground beneath the beast. A pillar of earth shot up, striking the beast's jaw and forcing its head upward.

The timing was perfect. Rosa's sword came in cleanly, slicing through the beast's neck with a decisive blow. The beast's head fell to the ground with a heavy thud, its body collapsing soon after. The battle was over, their combined efforts bringing down the formidable foe.
