Chapter 17 - Reporting back.

Rosa stood tall over the fallen beast, her eyes sharp with determination. With a swift motion, she swung her sword, flinging the red blood from its blade onto the ground. The motion was precise, almost ritualistic, a testament to her skill and poise.

Turning to the other knights, her voice rang out with authority. "Knights, the beast is down. Dig out the crystal immediately!" Her command was clear and unwavering, cutting through the fatigue and chaos of the battle.

The knights, still catching their breath, straightened at her words. They quickly moved to obey, their hands working with a renewed sense of urgency as they began to dig around the beast's belly where the crystal was likely embedded.

Silver approached Rosa with a casual stride, her silver hair catching the dim light. Stretching her arms above her head, she let out a satisfied sigh. "Well, that was a workout," she said with a playful grin. "I think I've earned a break. I'm heading home." Her tone was light, her humor a stark contrast to the intensity of the battle they had just faced.

Rosa chuckled as she watched Silver stretch and declare her exit. "Oh, don't worry, you'll get your paycheck by tomorrow morning," she quipped with a wink. "Just make sure you don't spend it all on energy drinks and fancy capes." The light-hearted banter added a touch of levity after their intense battle.

Silver and Rosa share a dynamic and complementary relationship, marked by mutual respect and a shared sense of humor. While Silver brings a playful, light-hearted energy to their interactions, Rosa balances it with her composed and strategic mindset. They often tease each other, their banter revealing a deep camaraderie formed through countless battles and shared experiences.

Their trust in each other is unwavering, with each knowing the other's strengths and abilities. In battle, they function seamlessly, their coordination and understanding making them a formidable team. Silver's agility and elemental prowess blend perfectly with Rosa's tactical acumen and martial skill.

Silver stretched one last time, a mischievous glint in her eye. "You know, Rosa," she said, her tone playful, "if you keep frowning like that, you might actually scare the next beast away. Not that I'd mind having less work."

Before Rosa could respond, a strong gust of wind swirled around Silver, lifting her off the ground. The wind carried her effortlessly, her laughter echoing as she was swept away. "See you later, boss!" she called out, her voice fading into the distance.

Rosa made her way back to the knight's headquarters, the weight of the beast crystal in her hand a constant reminder of their victory. Entering the grand halls, she moved with a purpose, heading straight to the commander's office. The memories of the past battle flickered in her mind—fallen comrades, their bodies lying still, and Silver, hovering in the air, her hair standing on end as she released a powerful blast that took down their formidable foe.

Reaching the commander's office, she placed the crystal on his desk. "The beast crystal, sir," she said, her voice steady despite the weight of the memories.

The commander examined the crystal briefly before pushing it back to her. "Keep it, Rosa," he said kindly. "Use it to forge a new hand shield. Yours was ruined during that battle—the one where you protected Silver while she charged her attack."

Rosa's eyes flashed with remembrance, the scene playing vividly in her mind. She nodded, accepting the crystal. "Thank you, sir."

The commander leaned back, a thoughtful look crossing his face. "How's Silver doing? Any idea where she is now?"

Rosa chuckled, the somber mood lifting slightly. "Knowing Silver, she's probably off turning a tornado into her personal playground. She'll show up when she's ready for another round of action." The commander smiled at her humor, the tension easing as they shared a light-hearted moment amidst the gravity of their duties.

The commander leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. "Silver saved us all that day," he murmured to himself, the words carrying a weight of gratitude and reflection.

Reaching into a drawer, he pulled out a stack of papers, sifting through them with a furrowed brow. "It's strange," he muttered, "that we know so little about her family. Even Rosa, her closest friend, seems to be in the dark."

He shook his head, a mix of admiration and puzzlement evident in his eyes. "And the way she lightens the mood, doing whatever she pleases... She's quite the enigma," he mused aloud, the mystery of Silver's past and her free-spirited nature adding another layer to her already fascinating character.

Silver walked into the house, the delicious aroma of dinner hitting her as she stepped inside. She found Robert situated at the dining table, a feast spread out before him.

"Wow, starting without me, are we?" she teased, a playful glint in her eyes.

Robert looked up, his expression serious despite the hint of amusement in his voice. "Just making sure there's something left when you finally show up. Wouldn't want you to choke on the mountain of food you usually in hale."

Silver laughed, shaking her head as she sat down to join him. "Ha! i don't inhale i savor. There's a difference" she shot back, grinning.
