Chapter 16: Magical Household

DUDLEY FLASHBACK POV

"You can call him Mipsy," said Amelia.

"Wow, this is Mipsy. He looks so strong," Dudley said, trying to appear amazed at the house-elf because he knew all house-elves loved compliments.

Susan and Amelia both gave him odd looks.

"Mipsy, Madam Amelia told you to listen to me while you're living here, right?" Dudley asked for confirmation.

"Madam ordered Mipsy to listen to Master Diddy," Mipsy replied.

Hearing the name 'Diddy' brought back unpleasant memories for Dudley. Many people disliked him, and some fans had started calling him 'Diddykins.' Since it was still early, he thought he could correct Mipsy, even though he knew most house-elves loved giving their masters nicknames.

For instance, Hermione Granger was often called 'Miss Grangy,' so it wasn't too odd that he was called 'Master Diddy.' Still, Dudley figured he could change it with some effort. If he remembered correctly, Dobby called Harry 'the Great Harry Potter,' not 'the Great Harry Potty.'

"Okay, Mipsy, I heard house-elves can do magic without a wand," Dudley said, changing the subject.

"Mipsy can do magic without a wand," Mipsy confirmed, looking excited.

"Okay, try to levitate that table," Dudley said, pointing to it.

Mipsy made a hand movement, directing magic at the table, which rose into the air. After holding it up for a moment, Mipsy let the table drop to the ground.

"Mom, Dad, come here!" Dudley called out, rushing to fetch his parents.

Meanwhile, Harry, Susan, and Amelia just watched his behavior. Dudley, once quiet and reserved, now seemed full of wonder. He spoke non-stop and wasn't as clueless as they might have thought. His sudden cheerfulness and extroverted nature intrigued them, especially Harry, who had known Dudley the longest.

"Your cousin is funny, Mr. Potter," Amelia remarked with a smile.

"Hmm, yeah," Harry replied, still trying to process the change.

"Are you not close with him?" Amelia asked again.

"When I was younger, he always bullied me. But after we went to Hogwarts, he stopped," Harry explained.

"Bullied you?"

"But Dudley never bullied anyone in Hufflepuff," Susan interjected.

"Maybe he just wanted to play with you, but you thought he was bullying you," Amelia suggested, trying to rationalize. She had seen how Dudley teased Harry earlier, pinching his cheeks, which reminded her of her own deceased brother, who used to tease her when they were younger.

The memory brought a smile to Amelia's face. However, Harry knew that in the past, Dudley hadn't just been teasing him, Dudley had actually bullied him.

Suddenly, Dudley returned to the living room with his parents.

"Mom, look! This is a house-elf," Dudley introduced Mipsy to his mother.

"Hi," said Petunia, while Vernon curiously observed the house-elf, noting that its appearance was very different from the depictions in Muggle books.

The elf Vernon expected was supposed to be beautiful, with jade skin, long ears, a tall stature, and blonde hair. But Mipsy was short, had a big nose, and the only thing that matched was the long ears.

"Hi, Madam," Mipsy greeted politely.

"Is this an elf?" Vernon asked, still puzzled.

"Yeah, this is a house-elf," Dudley confirmed.

"But the storybooks show something different. The elf I know is tall, blonde, with jade-white skin. This one only has pointed ears," Vernon remarked.

Hearing this, Mipsy looked sad, while Amelia and Susan seemed confused. Sensing the tension, Dudley quickly decided to change the subject.

"That's a different species. This one is a house-elf, a human companion who helps with cooking and cleaning. The elves in storybooks are another type of elf that specializes in hunting."

"Are there house-elves that specialize in hunting?" Susan asked curiously.

"No, that's a different species. They're also called elves, but not house-elves," Dudley clarified. "I'll show you their pictures later."

"Okay, Dudley," Susan replied with a smile.

Dudley then asked Mipsy to transfigure some objects, making him do it several times, until an owl suddenly flew in.

Dear Mr. Potter,

We have received a report of the use of levitation magic at [time].

As you have been warned before, we will send an Auror to visit you.

Mafalda Hopkirk

They were dumbfounded, but then another owl came in.

Dear Mr. Potter,

We have received a report of multiple uses of transfiguration and levitation magic at [time].

As you have been warned before, we will send an Auror not to visit you but to snap your wand.

Mafalda Hopkirk

Reading this letter brought a smile to Dudley.

'Finally, the benefit of having Susan here, I can lift the restriction and make Privet Drive 4 a wizard household. So there won't be any restriction on using magic here' Dudley thought.
