Chapter 13 - 013 I Hate You!

"Sister!" Aegon called out as he eyed Rhaenyra, who was gazing into the air in a daze.

His brows creased when Rhaenyra didn't turn to him or reply. She stayed still, lost in her own thoughts.

'That woman must have said something!' Aegon mumbled to himself; he clenched his little fist in anger at the woman.

'I will get back at you, old woman!' he muttered as he gritted his teeth.

Alicent too noticed Rhaenyra's expression, and her face turned grim. 'Did Lady Rhaenys say something to her?' she asked herself as she pinched her nose, recalling her earlier encounter with Rhaenys.

Aegon stared at his sister for a moment, 'Calm down…' he said to himself.

Narrowing his eyes at her, 'I can think of what I should do with that woman later, but now, I should do something about her.'

He then began to walk toward Rhaenyra, his steps a little slow. Alicent followed behind her son, quietly eyeing her friend, 'She's disturbed…'

Alicent knew her friend well enough to know she was disturbed by something. 'What did she even say to her?' She questioned.

The mother-son pair reached Rhaenyra with Aegon walking up to her sister and shaking her by the leg, "Sister?"

"Huh?" Rhaenyra, startled by the sudden shake, turned to her brother.

Her purple eyes flickered with uncertainty as Aegon tilted his head. She watched her brother; his innocent face and the flickering hint of worry shone in his purple eyes.

Once the boy learns to hold a sword, he will point it at you!

Rhaenys's words flashed in her mind as she looked at Aegon. She immediately turned her head away; she couldn't help it.

She couldn't help but imagine, 'Would he point his sword at me once he grows up?' She mumbled inwardly as she imagined Aegon all grown up with a sword pointing at him.

Her face contorted in sorrow when she imagined him saying, 'Sorry, sister, but I am the king!'

Her eyes moisten at the thought of her brother saying those words. 'I don't know what I would do if it comes true…'

Aegon hesitated, 'That bitch must have said something! That fucking whore!' He was raging inwardly, but he kept his calm on the outside.

'All the fucking work is on the line now!' he cursed again, 'Months! Months of work!'

"Sister!?" he called out once again, masking his boiling rage.

SNIFF

Rhaenyra took a deep breath as she closed her eyes, suppressing her inner turmoil and turning toward Aegon, and with a strained smile, she asked, "What is it, Aegon?"

"Sister, sad?" Aegon asked, his tiny hand trying to reach her face.

Rhaenyra felt her brother's small hand on her cheek. Her heart clenched when she saw how earnest her brother was.

She lifted her hand, her eyes fluttering with hesitation as she slowly ruffled his hair, "I am not sad, Aegon." She murmured as she bit her inner cheeks.

'I can see it on your face, you know.' Aegon mumbled inwardly; he wanted to say it out loud but held back, "Then, play with Aegon and Helaena!"

Alicent watched as her son tried to cheer Rhaenyra up. She clenched her fist tightly, while her frown deepened, 'That woman must have really said something.'

SIGH

Alicent sighed as she thought, 'I should do something…'

She then sat beside Rhaenyra. "Aegon, your sister is tired; you can play with her later." She said, turning to Aegon.

Aegon pursed his lips at her mother's words while Rhaenyra stayed silent.

Alicent looked at her friend as she mumbled, "I walked into Lady Rhaenys a while back."

Rhaenyra's eyes widened a little in surprise when she heard Alicent, but she reverted to her gloomy face and nodded absent mindedly.

Alicent pressed her lips together when she saw her friend's reaction; she hugged her daughter a little tighter as she hesitated before asking, "Did… she say anything to you?"

Alicent winced as she regretted saying that; her heart hammered against her chest as she hoped for Rhaenyra to answer.

Aegon, too, stared at her, hoping she would speak something.

But Rhaenyra was still; she neither moved nor said a word; she was just there, still as a rock.

Alicent bit her lips, 'Say something, Rhaenyra. Please…' She pleaded inwardly. She wanted to understand her friend and try to fix their relationship.

"Say something, Rhaenyra. I am your friend." She said, in a low voice.

Rhaenyra's eyes shone intensely; rage and hatred stirred in her heart when she heard her words.

'My friend!? Are you REALLY SAYING THAT YOU ARE MY FRIEND!? WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR FRIENDSHIP WHEN YOU MARRIED MY FATHER!?'

Rhaenyra screamed inwardly, all her hatred evident on her face as she slowly turned to Alicent.

She glared at the Queen, her face reddened with anger, filled with resentment and bitterness toward her former friend; she muttered, "I hate you!"

She then stood up abruptly and stormed off.

Alicent's eyes teared up when she heard Rhaenyra; her words stung her heart as tears fell down her cheeks. 'She… hates me?'

WAAAAH

Helaena cried loudly when she noticed her mother's tears. Her cries echoed through the silence of the godswood while Alicent cried silently.

Aegon pursed his lips as he rushed to his baby sister and tried to soothe her so that she would stop crying.

His gaze turned to his mother, who was motionless; his heart ached when he saw her tears, 'Fuck!'

'Why does it have to be this way!?'
