"Milady, I think the prince has some bad intentions towards you." Bauer said returning to the room.
"What makes you think that?" Erika asked, curious about what Bauer learnt.
"I saw some student coming out of the room saying that they would enjoy something. Also the prince refused to let you see him, saying that he was busy. While it's clear that he was actually in his room." Bauer said in one breath.
"Relax. I don't think they will do anything to the daughter of a great duke no matter who they are."
"Still I think we should be careful. Milady please always keep the gun at person." Bauer whispered the last part, afraid if Maruschka might hear about it.
"Don't worry I always keep it with me." She reassured Bauer.
"Um... are you talking about something serious?" Maruschka asked.
She just got out of her bath and was wearing a simple nightgown.
Noticing Erika and Bauer whispering amongst themselves, she was a bit worried.
"Is it something I shouldn't hear?"
"Oh, no it's nothing. We were just talking about what we did throughout the day." Erika said to her.
"How's your special magic course going on?" She asked to Maruschka.
"It's not that bad but I feel lonely since you are not there with me." She replied.
Her face little pink from shyness. She looked all demanding.
"I wanted to take all of my classes with you lady Erika." She said looking down.
Erika felt as if she was guilty for leaving her alone.
Bauer smiled a little looking at their faces.
"Alright that's enough you guys should rest." She broke up the conversation.
The next day was almost uneventful for Erika. At least it was until the evening.
Maruschka had late magic class due to her teacher being busy, so she was alone.
She decided to enjoy the beauty of the school campus a little before returning to her room.
At that moment a few students she didn't know came in and crashed onto her.
These were the students who were present with the prince last night. Though she didn't know the matter.
A few moments ago the prince asked them to crash into Erika and then run away acting like she was about to attack them.
"Hey what are you guys doing?" Erika said.
"Can't you see someone walking on the path?"
They started to cry.
"Please don't hurt us. It was our mistake. It won't happen again. Please we beg for mercy, please."
Erika was taken aback. She couldn't understand what was going on.
But before she could say anything they ran away.
Erika could no longer stay outside. She rushed to her room and told Bauer everything.
"Milady, I also noticed some students walking and maybe probing our room. They were all males and were laughing and saying, it would be fun tonight."
"Then they are definitely up to something. Make Maruschka sleep again and we will wait to see what happens."
After Maruschka returned that evening, Bauer brought her water which she had some sleeping drugs mixed in. She slept quickly after drinking it.
"Alright put her in the bed and let's pretend we are sleeping as well. Don't forget to keep the gun at yourself."
Erika said turning towards Bauer.
They turned the lights off and lied down in their beds.
Erika kept the P-38 under the pillow holding it with her right hand. Bauer also did the same.
They had the guns loaded and kept extra two magazines hidden inside their clothes.
The night was long and the hours ticked by slowly. Erika was almost about to fall asleep.
Suddenly Erika heard heard someone trying to open the door.
"Hey be quiet. It'd be a problem if they hear us and make a fuss of things." Someone among the group whispered.
The door was pushed open. Erika looked at Bauer who signalled her to be quiet and pretend to be still sleeping.
"Hehe, tonight will be a very fun night." Another one said.
The group entered the room but in the darkness couldn't realise who was who.
"Hey boss look there are three girls here."
"Whatever the more the merrier."
"Let's go at them all at once."
As they approached the beds, Erika got up from the sleep and screamed.
"AHHH, who are you and why are you in my room."
Bauer also got up and screamed.
"Hey, what are you doing shut them up, otherwise we'll be done for." The leader of the group said.
Now everyone focused on Erika and Bauer and tried to pounce on them.
Erika shot the person who tried to grab her in the stomach.
He fell down and started to scream from a pain he never endured before.
The gun also made a loud noise.
The leader of the group was now furious.
"What's wrong with you? You can't handle two girls?"
But all the commotion and the gunfire woke everyone in the building up.
Erika and Bauer shot some others as well.
However noticing the commotion, the leader of the group ran away.
The prince was the first one to arrive at the scene with his guard knights.
The whole building was now lit and the full scene was visible.
Erika didn't know how many entered the room but she saw four lying on the ground.
They were wearing full black dress and had covered their faces.
"Your highness these people entered my room and tried to do something bad." Erika said.
At this time other students were here as well. They were shocked to see the bloody scene.
"To break into the dorm of his highness and his fiance?"
"I can't believe it."
They whispered among each other.
"Silence!" The prince said, clearly angry.
"I don't believe a word that you say." He said looking at Erika.
"It's impossible for someone to break into the dorm where I the prince is staying. Moreover, even if they broke in to your room how did just the two girls injure this many people so badly?"
Now the whisper shifted. It was a real blunder that Erika did. She had no way of explaining the gunshot injuries.
"What's more rather than you these people were the ones to scream and wake everybody up and even that commoner student is still sleeping."
"I did it your highness." Bauer said at that moment.
"I am milady Erika Raubenbraum's maid and bodyguard. I protected her." She said boldly in front of the prince.
At that moment Weilding arrived with some knights.
"Ah, you came in a good time." The prince said.
"Take these students under custody and bring them to a healer. I will personally investigate the case."
Weilding looked at his knights and ordered them to take the injured boys lying on the ground to find a healer.
He also went with them.
He reassured the students and send them to their rooms.
"I will find out what you were doing." He said looking at Erika.
Erika was now very clear that the prince was actually up to something. She was also reflecting on the blunder she made.
"Thank you Bauer. I was almost done for if you hadn't saved me in front of the prince."
"It's my duty milady. We have to be very careful from now on about what the prince wants and also how we defend ourselves." She said.
The commotion had died down and it was dark again. Everyone went to their rooms to sleep.
However, Erika and Bauer both felt uneasy. They knew this won't be the end of it.
And they were right.
