Chapter 47 - The day after

After it became dark and calm again, Erika and Bauer went to work.

"We must clean up before she wakes up." Erika said pointing at Maruschka.

They started cleaning up the room of the bloodstains.

Erika and Bauer both had been very careful so as not to kill anyone and shot very carefully.

Now they're left with cleaning their room up.

"You don't have to do it milady, I will clean everything up." Bauer said.

"Thank you Bauer." Erika replied before she went to her bed to sleep.

Bauer in the meantime cleaned everything up.

She removed the bloodstain and corrected the things that were misplaced by the attacking group.

The job was not that hard since nothing really happened inside the room other than the hard to remove blood stain that remained.

Bauer was able to clean things up by morning and went to sleep.

At that time Maruschka woke up from her sleep.

Innocent as ever she called to Erika to wake up, totally oblivious of the things that happened last night.

"Yes, yes I'm awake." Erika said waking up.

To Maruschka it was clear from her baggy dark eyelids that Erika didn't have a proper sleep last night.

However, Bauer surprised her the most.

Among the three Bauer was the early bird. She would get up early and help the two prepare for their classes but this time Bauer herself was asleep.

"What's wrong with her lady Erika?" She asked pointing at Bauer.

"Nothing, she's just tired from yesterdays work. Let her sleep. We shouldn't disturb her." Erika said while getting up from her bed.

Erika got ready herself and even helped Maruschka to get ready for morning classes.

Maruschka was surprised that even after being a noble, Erika could do her chores herself.

"Ah, even though I am used to doing this much from my previous life, it's still such a hassle. Looks like I've grown too much dependent on Bauer."

This was the thought on Erika's mind.

After getting ready for classes both of them left the room.

Though Erika was a little bit afraid and unwilling to left Bauer alone sleeping in the room.

But she trusted Bauer and knew she'd wake up and take care of any eventualities that may arise.

Erika wanted meet the principal of the academy today to complain about what happened, but she also wanted to keep it a secret from Maruschka.

"Lady Erika are you worried about something?" Maruschka asked looking at her lost in thoughts.

"Oh, no it's nothing really. You know our magic teacher is really strict." Erika changed the topic.

"Everyone calls her the old witch."

"Why is that?" Maruschka asked, curious about Erika's teacher.

"She'd blame the students for the slightest mistake."

"Oh, really but I think lady Erika is flawless. so she can't scold you."

"Hahah," Erika laughed.

"Even if I don't make any mistake, she'd still find one to blame the students."

"It seems like you've got a tough spot, fufu." Maruschka giggled.

"So, hows your end of the deal?"

"Well as always it's nothing special I guess." Maruschka said thinking about it a little.

Erika was overly interested how this in-game character was acting.

She had some sort of communication with the other capture targets and knew that they all acted nothing like in the game. Which made her all the more curious.

"Oh, do you like the teacher?" Erika asked with a little smile.

"Yeah sure, he is a gentle and kind teacher and bothered to teach a commoner like me." Maruschka said.

Her reaction was normal not hinting any sort of romantic development.

Erika made the calculations on her mind.

"So which route is she in?" She whispered.

"Uh, did you say something lady Erika?" Maruschka asked not quite understanding what Erika said.

"It's nothing. Look we are already at the class." Erika said.

They reached the academic building without even noticing.

Noticing Erika and Maruschka taking their seats, the students started to whisper amongst themselves about the incident of last night.

Hanna came to Erika,

"Lady Raubenbraum are you alright. I heard....."

"Let's talk about it later in private." Erika cut her short.

She didn't wanted for Maruschka to notice or catch a glimpse of what happened.

That was the reason why Bauer gave her drugs to sleep through the night.

"As you say lady Raubenbraum, I will talk to you later."

Hanna understood that Erika didn't want to talk in front of Maruschka.

Maruschka's reactions also made it clear that she remained in the dark about the whole incident although, everyone in the academy knew about it.

"Lady Erika, what was lady Landsturm talking about? What happened yesterday?"

Maruschka was anxious and afraid that someone might have tried to harm Erika.

Also she clearly didn't like to be left in the dark.

"Ever since we entered the class everyone's talking about last night. It seems everyone except me your best friend knows what happened."

Erika couldn't understand what type of feelings Maruschka was feeling, but she didn't intend to let her know about the incident.

"Don't worry about it. You should focus on your studies. You didn't study anything yesterday so revise things a bit before the teacher comes." Erika changed the topic coldly.

"Ah, you're right."

Maruschka brought out a notebook from her bag and started to read it hastily.

Soon teacher arrived and regular classes continued.

Nothing unexpected happened throughout the classes which eased Erika a little bit.

After the regular classes it was time for magic lessons and Erika and Maruschka both went to their respective classes.

Hanna came to her then.

"Lady Raubenbraum the commoner isn't here now. So you can tell me what happened, now."

"Sigh, it was nothing. Some students tried to assault me but my maid beat them up."

"How's that even possible?!" Hanna was surprised.

"How can some outside student get into the dorm of his highness and assault his fiance?!"

Obviously, this was something that nobody could understand and anyone would be shocked.

"I don't know that too. But his highness has assured me that he'll look into it."

But Erika couldn't trust his words in the slightest.

First of all it's impossible to enter that building without someone helping them.

And secondly his reaction to immediately doubt Erika's story. All made Erika sure that the prince was in it.

"Something's not right. Such an incident should've had a large commotion within the academy. But everything seems too calm." Hanna expressed her doubts.

"I don't know maybe the academy has also decided to let his highness handle the affairs." Erika said.

She was not really worried about it. Rather the smaller the commotion the better it was for her.

"Well that makes sense. The academy's reputation will be seriously hurt if this incident became public." Hanna said wondering.

"Anyways, never talk about such things in front of Maruschka." Erika told her.

This time her voice was a bit harsh which clearly conveyed her warning.

"As you wish," Hanna said.

They went to different classes, since they had different magic abilities.

Meanwhile in her magic class teacher Schorner was talking to Maruschka.

"Lady Maruschka are you alright?"

"Yes I am. Why?"

Maruschka couldn't understand why teacher asked such a sudden question.

"I was just worried about you. Did something happen last night?"

"No, I just slept through the night as usual."

"Alright, if you say so."

Before starting magic lesson he spoke to Maruschka again.

"Just know that I am always here to help you out. Just tell if that Raubenbraum makes things hard for you."

Maruschka

couldn't understand why the teacher was so suspicious of Erika and she didn't like such attitude.

She didn't spoke. She clearly noticed that whenever she tried to ask the teacher about something in the lesson she didn't understand, he would make a twisted face.

She deduced that the teacher didn't like her.

"Then why did he take me as his only student?" She would think sometimes.

After the class as Maruschka was about to leave, she felt weird for a second.

"Huh, why does it feel like the teacher casted a magic on me?"

She turned around to ask and notice the grin on teacher's face.

"Teacher did something happen?" She asked

"Oh no, it's nothing. You may take your leave. I am busy now."

After Maruschka left, he went into his lab, put out some equipments and did some experiments.

"What's this?!" He exclaimed.

"The prince asked me to slowly poison that girl. But it seems something is already present on her body."

He did some more experiments.

"Oh, its a harmless sleeping pill. Whatever, this eases my work." His smile was now wider.

"So I won't have to get extra lovey dovey with that disgusting commoner."

"The prince asked me to poison her slowly and blame his fiance but it seems she already did the work for me. I will be able save my time from that disgusting girl."
