"You four, forget about loading the empty cart for now and focus on supplying ammo from the other cart to the soldiers." Erika ordered looking at four pullers who were terrified. "Remember a second delay will cause deaths of everyone here." She said again. Her words knocked some sense back into them. They dropped the golds and gems they were carrying and rushed to the ammo cart. "Don't fire, until the enemy is in the clearing and conserve ammo. We have to return back with whatever we have as well." She gave the fire control orders to her troops. There was no chance of digging in. The troops had to fight just in crouching position. They formed a closely tied circle around the carts and the heap of treasure. Though it didn't look like treasure anymore. The soldiers were very nervous. All them had their bayonets fixed. Emil, Bauer, Eugen and the two panzerjagers along with Erika were in the back. All were ready to shoot. "Emil Bauer, we will form an inner circle. Stand straight behind the troops looking at only your half of the side. Do not crisscross and shoot into other's direction." Erika ordered them. Looking at the panzerjagers she said, "Be ready. Take out any enemy that can't be taken out by us." Finally she ordered Eugen to stay where he was and treat any soldier who was injured. Erika was afraid. There was no defensive position no ditch, no trench or barriers to stop the enemy. "Why would they choose to attack in such an open space when attacking inside the thick forest would have been far better?" Thinking this Erika couldn't help but worry. "Do they have some other plans?" She couldn't help but ask herself. Erika shivered at the thought that the enemy might have some unknown weapon otherwise they wouldn't show up to attack in a clear, open position like this. Seeing her scared Emil took her hand and comforted her. "Don't worry milady, no matter what happens please be sure that we will protect you. And please trust us. We will surely beat the enemy for six." Erika calmed down a little. Every second passed with tensions and worryness. The number of eyes looking at them increased. The soldiers were also afraid. There were clear signs of nervousness among them. They didn't blink, their hands were shivering and it seemed as if they would press the trigger in nervousness. In that moment of tenseness something shattered the silence. The trees murmured, many could be seen falling down left or right. Something big was approaching. The ground trembled. The soldiers fixed their fingers in the trigger. The only thing they could think now was what they were up against.
GROOOOOWWWL, a sudden ear shattering roar was heard as if a wall that would throw them back. But they couldn't dwell on it for much time. The eyes suddenly ran towards them. The soldiers were about fire. "Hold," Erika ordered. This order made the soldiers focus. Many were about to pull the trigger but stopped. The eyes drew closer, until the full monster become visible. Many fox type monsters emerged from the forest. They were approaching fast towards them. "Open fire." Erika gave the orders. Bang, bang, bang loud noise of gunfire was heard. The foxes that entered the clearing were shot. There were no breaks in the wave of foxes. One after another kept coming. "Alternate your fire, support each other. Don't let them through." Erika shouted at them. Adrenaline was rushing to her brain. She had already forgotten the chills she felt before. The soldiers were also firing at the approaching foxes without stopping. One monster avoided the shot and came up on a soldier. But fortunately just as the fox was about to attack him, it was shot by that soldier. But in this moment another fox came up in that same position. Bauer looking at that position, fired a burst of 4 bullets, taking the fox out. They were being attacked from all side. "Ammo," a soldier in the the left side of the position shouted. But the puller couldn't understand what bullet he needed. "Which one?" He asked. The gap in the firing allowed a fox to jump straight on him. He fell back with the fox over him. It was trying to reach his neck to break it and kill him instantly. Unfortunately for the fox, when the soldier fell back but still had his guns held firmly in his both hands. Without thinking much, he pulled the gun and stabbed the creature in its stomach. It was as if his survival instincts have taken over him. Red blood and the monsters intestines fell right on his face and uniform. But he was numb to the feeling of stickiness and disgust. Only thing he thought was to get back up and ask for ammo again. A panzerjager who noticed the condition went to the cart and took six Mauser cartridges to the soldier. Emil covered the gap by constantly firing at the approaching monsters. The soldier filled his pouches and started firing again. Emil stopped. At that time the other panzerjager explained which type of cartridge to be given to whom.
The waves of foxes changed to larger wolves who mixed in along with the foxes. These wolves were larger and required more bullets to stop them. The firing intensified. Erika started thinking of a way to preserve bullets and to control the enemy better. Looking at the field again, She came up with an idea. "Emil, Bauer" She shouted. "We will contain the foxes." Then she ordered the soldiers at the outer ring, "Troops, shoot only at the larger wolves." Getting the orders, Everyone started to fix their aims and change targets. Brrrrrr..... sounds of the Mp40s mixed in with the sounds of the Gewehr 43s. The growls and shrieks merged with the gunfire made the noise intolerable. The monsters got dangerously close to the troops. There were no breaks in the formation. Cries for ammos also started to increase in frequency, and the four pullers were on the edge. They were nervous but still ran with ammos to the troops. But these moments of time allowed the monsters to attack the troops. The monsters by this time had learned not to jump on the troops and they took more practical approach of attacking with their claws and teeths. Bayonets were useless in this type of attack and the soldiers were constantly using their guns to block them. The two Panzerjagers would join in these scenes. They helped the attacked troops by shooting the monsters with their P38 pistols. One wolf snatched the gun from the hands of a soldier and was about to throw it away but got shot by a panzerjager's pistol. The soldier quickly took his gun back. But another wolf was on him without thinking he smashed the face of the monster with his rifle's butt and then stabbed it under its mouth. Eugen joined in with the pullers to help supply ammo. He had trainings and was less nervous than the pullers.
The battle continued in this way for who knows how long. Soon the trees murmured and gorilla monsters jumped out on the soldiers from the trees. The first wave of gorillas jumped on five soldiers making a dent in the defense. Erika, Emil and Bauer quickly adjusted their fire, stopping the monsters from breaking through. The gorillas pinned the troops down rendering it impossible for them to use their bayonets. They tried to bite the faces of the soldiers. The two panzerjagers opened up on the gorillas. Emil also fired his submachine gun on the gorillas. As they fired some bullets the gorillas lost their grips and took a few steps back, allowing the troops to take up their guns and shoot at them. But more gorillas Emerged from the trees, jumping straight on the other soldiers as well. But were dealt before they could deal any damage. Erika realising that this situation could lead to deaths of troops, ordered them to back up a bit to get out of the gorilla's jumping range. Slowly the soldiers backed up while keeping to fire at the monsters. More gorillas charged in. In panic a panzerjager fired his panzerfaust on a gorilla that had attacked a soldier. The gorilla was blown to bits. however the impact wounded the soldier as well. His comrades pulled him back while being covered by Emil. "Sani," One soldier shouted. Eugen rushed to the scene and used healing magic on the injured soldier. Erika was horrified, but couldn't dwell on it. She was more focused on the monsters. She shouted a quick order, "Be careful with the panzerfausts." But soon returned to her firing. The falling back allowed them to get rid of the overhead attacks and also increased the amount of time the monsters would be exposed. But the gorillas would still land at point blank range. One gorilla landed in front of a soldier and punched him with its paw throwing him back straight at the cart. Bauer fired at that gorilla while Eugen rushed to injured soldier. Soon he returned to his post. The soldiers were gaining back their courage little by little. The monsters despite non-stop attacks from all sides failed to break through the defense.
Suddenly the ground trembled, the trees in the forest fell down one by one. The next scene they saw was beyond their wildest imagination. Two giant turtle shaped armoured monsters appeared from the dark. However they looked nowhere near turtles. The monster had faces that looked like a crocodile with a long tongue that was always sticking out. Their entire bodies were covered with spikes and had the feets of a tiger with giant long nails. They crushed everything in their path. Two giant monsters appeared side by side. A soldier fired at one of the monsters. But the bullets deflected from its body. however, these monsters were slow though it didn't matter since their legs were large enough to cross a long distance in one step. Erika was horrified. "N-now I understand why they attacked in the clearing." Everyone froze still in their positions. Cold sweats ran through their bodies. The giant monsters moved crushing everything in their paths. The smaller monsters were crushed beneath their feets. However, the attack increased in intensity from the other sides as the monsters rushed to clear ways for the giant monsters before being crushed by them. "PANZERFAUST," Someone shouted with all his might. Suddenly life was brought back to the group that faced the two monsters. The two panzerjager rushed towards the giants. The soldiers facing on the other side didn't notice the giant monsters. They didn't have the luxury to stop firing. The monsters entered the clearing and within a second were about to crush the troops. At that moment two panzerfausts were fired. One blew up the head of one of the monsters while the other lost its left front leg. Both monsters fell down on their belly in front of the soldiers. Their bloods and body parts fell on them.
Now the monsters were afraid. Their eyes which had fierce red gazes from the beginning now became overwritten with fear. They were unable to attack any more. As an enemy that lost its most powerful weapon and its morale, they started running away. Another large growl shook the world. The troops were excited again. They didn't know what they would face again. But to their surprise the monsters all ran away. Erika thought that this growl was to stop the monsters from retreating. But to her surprise it was a call for retreat. Even her feeling of being watched by something was also gone.
