Meanwhile the planning for Erika's mission continued. There were daily plannings on how to proceed and what to do to maximize the profit and minimize losses there were also talks on how to build up the Wehrmacht on large scale. Her plans were to structure three infantry regiments with three battalions, scout companies, artillery batteries and other supporting units. This would require a fairly large sized manpower. Plus adding up weapons production and logistical issues. During one of the planning sessions Erika, Emil and Bauer were discussing about the various aspects of the first mission in the dark forest. It was in this session Emil pointed out a grave problem that needed a solution. "Milady, we cannot go inside the dark forest without having a healer with us." Emil said leaning forward with his hands on the table. "Ah, shit. I forgot about that part." Erika said while holding her forehead with her hand. "Uh, milady this type of words are not very ladylike." Bauer corrected her. "Fine I am sorry." Erika said. She was a bit angry. "Having a perfectly working medical system is very important for an army." Erika said. "I think only hiring temporary healers for a mission won't do. I must form up a medical system for my Wehrmacht. What do you guys think?" Erika stopped. "Milady there has never been a precedent before in any force having a dedicated medical service, but having one might actually be a good idea." Emil said. Bauer spoke up "Plus using temporary healers might backfire. We won't be able to control who they spoke to about your army." Bauer raised a valid point. Emil was also in a pinch. "Milady, I don't have any friend who are healer or know any healers themselves. They are extremely hard to come by." Erika was a little flustered. She couldn't control her curiosity and asked out immediately " How do people get treated here?" It was clear from her voice that she was worried about the people of this territory. "They mostly depend on herbalists. They can also do some smaller surgery operations like stichting and stuffs." Erika was a bit relieved. "It seems like it's no different from my own world in the medieval period. But that doesn't solve our current dilemma." She thought in her mind. "Milady, how about your family healer." Bauer suddenly came out as a life saver. "He is a very talented healer and he has studied in the royal academy. Maybe we can take him into your army." Erika didn't really entertain the thought of using him as a military doctor because he maybe needed by her father or mother any time. Her family was quite healthy and hardly if ever required a healer. Only time he was needed was when Erika was sick. So having him in the Wehrmacht might actually help her. "I also support Bauer milady. We don't have any other choice for now. I think he can be a loyal healer for the Wehrmacht." Emil raised his support. Erika gave in to their pressure, "Fine I will recruit him as the first Chef des Sanitätswesens of my Wehrmacht. "Milady, where do you come up with such hard to pronounce words?" Bauer asked she was trying to grasp the words Erika just said. Erika ignored her. "The strategy meeting is over for today. Emil please call for an appointment with our family healer tomorrow." With this the meeting was dismissed.
Next day, Emil went to the healer's home. It was in a less populous area of the city. The house itself was not too big but was enough for a family to live comfortably. It was a two storied wooden house. The color was bright and could be noticed from afar. Emil went to the front gate of the house and knocked. "Who is it?" A voice came out. It was very familiar voice. "It's Emil. The Raubenbraum family butler. Milady wants to see you for some urgent task." Footsteps were heard coming from the house. It got louder and louder until stopped when the healer opened the door. His name was Eugen and was in his 30s. He was overall in good shape and looked happy. He spoke with a smile in his face, "Come in Emil. How is the lady Erika Raubenbraum? The last time I saw her was after she woke up from her coma." "Sorry to be disturbing you today Eugen. Milady is fine and she has perfectly recovered from her illness." Emil said while standing at the gate. "Sorry I can't come in today. You have to come with me. Lady Erika wants to talk with you about a very serious matter." Eugen was taken aback. "What could have happened for a 10 year old girl to have a serious talk?" He wondered. "Is everything alright? Has anyone fallen sick or did something happened to the Master or Madame?" He asked all these questions. It was clear that he was flustered. "Don't worry everything is fine for now." Emil assured him. "Milady wants to offer you a job. It is very important so please come with me. She is waiting for you." Eugen couldn't hold back his excitement. "Please wait a minute I am coming." He said to Emil and went back inside the house. Within a few minutes he came back prepared to go. "Okay, let's go." He said to Emil. They returned to the Raubenbraum residence.
Once in the palace, Emil took Eugen to the backyard. This surprised him. He couldn't help but ask, "Won't lady Erika meet me in her room or in the palace reception room?" Emil quickly replied, "No, she is a little busy and today's meeting must remain a secret." Eugen was a little surprised. He knew that Erika was a little whimsical but Emil wouldn't play into it like this. He couldn't find any reason. In the field Erika was instructing the craftsmen on how to make the Mp40 schmeisser. Emil called out to her, "Milady I have brought the healer with me." hearing these words Erika looked back excitedly. She asked the craftsmen to continue with the Mp40s and Gewehr 43s and their ammunitions and then ran off to the place where Emil and Eugen were standing. "Thank you for your hard work Emil." Erika said and then looked at Eugen. She was excited. Eugen greeted her. He bowed and said, "Good day milady, How can I be of your service today?" Erika pointed out to two chairs and a table and said, "Let's sit there and talk." They went there and sat down Emil stood behind Erika while Bauer brought tea for them. "Thanks milady." Eugen said taking the cup in his hand. They took a sip before Erika started talking. She said after putting the cup down from her hand, "I think Emil already explained why I called you here today?" Eugen replied taking another sip from the cup, "Yes milady, he said that you were planning something big and needed my assistance. I will do my best to serve you milady." Erika smiled she was happy with his reply. She continued to explain, "I want you to become the Chef des Sanitätswesens of my Wehrmacht." Eugen couldn't catch what he was told. Putting the cup down he said, "Excuse me milady but I couldn't quite catch what you said." Emil clarified, "Basically she means that she wants to be the chief healer of her army." Eugen couldn't believe his ears, "What do you mean by your army? Is it the knight force of the Master? Are they going on a mission and require my help?" He was very curious and couldn't keep calm. "No it is my private army. I am training and maintaining them myself with Emil and Bauer's help. I want you to become the Chef des Sanitätswesens of this army. For now until I expand this army more your job will be to heal the troops during battle and after expansion you will be in charge of maintaining and training the medical system, facilities and staffs so that they can takeover frontline duty." "But milady why do you need an army of your own? You can just ask master's knightage to help you." Eugen asked leaning forward in chair. "No this is my private venture and the knights are required for the protection and maintaining law and order of my father's territory. I don't want to bother them with my affairs." Erika said leaning a little back. She continued after a brief pause, "The task of the Wehrmacht as I call my army is also very important. It concerns the future of everyone in this territory plus my wehrmacht is not like the other armies you have seen. If you agree to join me you will understand the power and might of this army." Eugen was getting more curious. He couldn't understand the meaning of a healer to get training. "A healer's job is just to heal the injured. And the jobs she said I would get doesn't require any special training. Even if I join the frontlines for now, I don't think I need any special training." He couldn't help but ask, "Milady, what kind of training am I required to take? Isn't just being able to heal enough for me?" Erika quickly answered his question, "No, just being able to heal is not enough for my Wehrmacht you must know how to use your weapons correctly to protect yourself and those you heal. Also you need discipline to keep up with the rules of wars." Half out of curiosity half out of gratitude to the Raubenbraum family, Eugen agreed to join. "I wonder what this little girl has in store for me." He couldn't help but be curious. "Great," replied Erika "However you must remember to keep this absolutely secret from even your family. Your training will start from today. Others are already a month ahead of you in training and we have a mission scheduled in 5 months. Emil is in charge of your drills training." Looking towards Emil, she said, "You start with the regular training for the first weeks. No need for him to go through rifles training though." "As you wish milady." Emil bowed. He took Eugen with him and left for the training field.
