David smiled slightly. "My wife is pregnant, and we've been walking all day. She's very tired now," he explained.
Rayne looked at the pale woman and instantly wanted to help somehow. "Is there anything I can do? Does she need any medicine?"
David looked at Rayne with a surprised expression. She didn't know them at all and was offering them her precious resources!
"Um, I feel bad asking, but maybe some water or some food? We've only eaten once today, and it was a small bag of chips," he said quietly.
At first, he didn't want to ask, but he knew his wife needed the nutrition. Even though he felt embarrassed asking, for her, he would do anything.
Rayne froze for a brief moment. These people had only eaten half a small bag of chips today? And they had walked all day?
"Let me take a look and see what I can bring you guys. Please, lay her down on one of the mattresses," she said, pointing toward the wall.
