Chapter 49 - Ouija Board-Part 2

Phil was having a horrible day, he was still stuck in the ghost dimension and barred from moving on when someone opened a portal through a Ouija board. He thought he could have some fun and maybe convince them to open a portal to the real world, but instead, they made fun of him. He got so annoyed that he opened the portal himself and stepped through. What he saw on the other side was not the scared faces of people who were seeing a ghost for the first time, but people who had definitely dealt with ghosts before.

"Ahem, I'm very sorry for intruding, I'm just going to…" He trails off, trying his best to hurry through the portal and leave, when someone grabs his foot. He looks back in surprise and when he spots the smiling face at the other end he knows he's completely fucked. Who smiles when they grab onto a ghost? That doesn't make any sense!

"Please spare me, I didn't mean any of it," Phil begs. He's sitting in the center of the room, bowing down to a young man with blonde hair, who was the one who grabbed his leg so Phil assumed he was the leader of the group.

"Really? You seemed to have quite a lot of things to say when you first popped out." The young man has an eerie grin on his face. Phil felt nothing but dread at the sight of it, and there wasn't only this young man in the room, there was a girl who had a grimace on her face that reeked of holy energy. And there was even another ghost in the room…he should've just stayed where he was.

"I'm sure you're nice people and we can discuss this…right?" Phil asks.

"What do you guys think?" The young man turns to the other people in the room.

"I say we just get rid of him already." The girl with holy energy growls.

"He did say a lot of mean things." Another girl smiles.

"Hmph, I do not care for this one." The other ghost states. Phil sensed that he was in great danger.

"Wait! I could help you! I have a special ability that lets me read into your near future." He says proudly, he's used this ability to his advantage multiple times in the past.

"Hmm." The young man has an uninterested expression and Phil pales.

"Please!" He begs one last time.

"Fine, just read our future once and we'll let you go." The young man says.

"Thank you!" Phil exclaims, after all, a boring life is better than disappearing. Phil closes his eyes and puts his hands on his forehead. He focuses on the group around him and looks forward…

It all happens in an instant, the male ghost that was about to read their future suddenly screamed and burned up, turning to ashes. Nobody in the room had done anything and no other ghosts were around.

"That was weird," Lou states.

"No duh! What the fuck happened?" Avery inspects the ashes but doesn't find anything of interest.

"Hmm…maybe he saw something in the future he wasn't supposed to see." Belle muses.

"Is that even possible?" Liz asks.

"I mean, ghosts are real, at that point almost anything is possible." Leslie points out.

"I guess that's enough excitement for one night, you guys should get going before it gets too late," Belle says, he's already gone into the closet and picked up a broom to clean up the ashes.

"See you later!" Leslie calls out as he leaves. Avery makes her way toward the door but Belle stops her before she can go through it.

"I wanted to ask you something." It seems innocent enough but the smirk on his face tells her otherwise.

"...What is it?" She huffs.

"I wanted to know if you'd want to work with me as an assistant." He replies.

"Wha-!" Before she can deny him he cuts her off.

"I'll pay you more than your current job and you can take more time off because I only stream every so often." She wants to punch him right now because, despite her hatred for him, the offer is pretty sweet.

"Ugh, I'll think about it, just call me the next time something happens and we'll see." She tells him, then, she brushes past him and leaves the house. She says goodbye to Liz and then hops in her car and heads home.

"I can't believe I'm actually thinking about this." She mutters. The call comes almost a week later and Avery is less than pleased at what her answer is going to be.

"Sooooo, how would you like to go to a haunted forest with us." Belle offers.

"...Fine, I'll do it, send me the location and time and I'll be there." She groans. When she steps out of the car she's met with an ominous forest and a sign that says 'Do Not Enter'

"Is it legal to be here?" She asks.

"I got permission from the owner, they had a little problem and asked me to deal with it." Belle chuckles.

"Are we going to investigate this entire forest?" Leslie asks.

"Nah, it just says we have to find four ritual sites and destroy them," Belle responds.

"...Where the fuck do you get this info from?" Avery questions.

"It's a secret," Belle says, putting a finger up to his lips.

"Whatever, let's just get this over with." Avery sighs, heading toward the path leading into the forest.

"We should be careful, this place is probably teeming with ghosts," Leslie warns.

"If any come my way I'll just give them a holy punch to the face." Avery threatens.

"Let's be civil about this, we can't go punching everything we see…besides, I have a bad feeling we might not be alone tonight." Belle says ominously. Before Avery can unpack what the hell that meant, Belle and Leslie are already moving forward onto the path and she has to rush to catch up.
