Chapter 20 - Oaksfield Mental Asylum-Part 6

Leslie was running through the halls, he could hear the shouting from downstairs. The ghost had slipped through the floor before he could catch up to her.

"C'mon, c'mon, go faster!" He mutters, turning the corner to the stairs and jumping down then three steps at a time. When he finally reached the bottom he spotted the group getting pushed back by wind laced with miasma. They were clinging onto whatever they could find, Carly was holding onto the edge of a door, Ben was grabbing at a light on the ceiling, and Shay was desperately scrabbling at a dent in the ground. The female ghost looked bored as she blasted them with her wind.

"Shit! I can't hold on!" Shay yelled. Her fingers were slipping, if she let go she would end up a meat paste on the wall.

"Crap, I gotta do something." Leslie mumbles. He spots a door that was blown open by the wind. He rushes into the hallway and immediately gets attacked by the wind, but he grabs onto the open door at the last second. He's directly across from Shay, he grabs onto the door with one hand and reaches out with the other, but she's too far away.

"Shay! I'm going to reach out my legs! You have to grab on!" He shouts at her.

"Okay!" She yells back. Leslie tilts his body so that both hands are on the door and reaches out both legs to Shay. It's harder than it sounds as he has to flex his core muscles just to keep it steady through the wind. As soon as Shay grabs on his legs fly backward, not able to take the strain. Leslie worries that Shay fell off, but he still feels a weight on his legs.

"Climb up and hold onto the door! I'm gonna go beat her!" Leslie tells her. He can feel her climbing up his legs and then she pries herself off.

"I'm holding on!" She shouts at him. He starts to climb toward the ghost, climbing over doors and grooves in the wall. About halfway to her, she notices him and suddenly increases the wind pressure, a frown on her face.

'I'm not gonna let a little wind stop me' He thinks, desperately fighting the wind and crawling closer to her. He can see the others out of the corner of his eye, barely holding on. Just when he's about to reach her, she pulls out some rocks that had crumbled to the ground from the wall. She hurls them at Leslie with the wind, he can't avoid them and they strike his body, hitting his face and hands, trying to get him to let go. But he holds fast and pushes himself through the wind, falling into the stairwell beside her and the wind disappears. He takes a moment to catch his breath before grabbing at the knife that Belle had given him earlier.

"Let's get this over with." He mutters, and then he runs right at the wind ghost. She's been watching him since earlier and shows a faint look of shock at the sudden rush. But she stops the wind flowing through the hallway, causing the others to fall to the ground, and blasts Leslie with a gust of wind that sends him rocketing into the wall, slamming his head against it with a sickening CRACK!

"Ouch." He groans, feeling the back of his head and finding it sticky with blood. His vision is blurry as he spots double the wind ghost striding up to him.

"Sigh, just die for me won't you, this is a bother." It's the first thing she ever says, and it's said with a lazy drawl. She doesn't seem to care about the situation at all, giving off the feeling of a worker being forced to do overtime.

"Sorry, but I'm kind of being paid to be here, so I'm not going to die before I get my money." He tells her. He struggles to stand up, holding his head as it protests. She tries to send another blast of wind at him, but he dodges it and rushes up, stabbing her in the thigh.

"Urk!" She cries out in pain as her eyes go cloudy. She looks around in confusion and throws out another wind blast, but it misses completely. Leslie takes this chance to stab her multiple times all over her body. She sinks to her knees from the pain, the confusion on her face evident.

"Wait, wait! Can we talk this out, please? I don't want to feel the pain anymore please." She begs.

"How am I supposed to believe you?" He asks suspiciously, holding the knife to her throat.

"I-I can give you my soul! He let me keep it because I was so loyal, but you can take it." She cries out.

"Your soul?" He questions.

"Yes, it works like a contract, I give you my soul, and you promise something to me in return. I'll give you my soul if you promise not to hurt me." She says.

"You still haven't told me what your soul does." He tells her, pushing the knife further into her neck.

"I-it controls me, you can order me to do whatever you want and I'll do it." She sobs. Leslie thinks it over for a few seconds, trying to decide if she's lying.

"Fine, but if it doesn't work then I'm going to slash up your body." He says coldly.

"Y-yes." She squeaks. The ghost woman closes her eyes for a second, then reaches into her chest and pulls out a small, orb-like object.

"Here, you eat it and the contract is complete." She explains. Leslie stares at the orb in disgust before grabbing it and swallowing it in one gulp. He feels a sense of coldness and then a flash of heat runs through him all at once. He then feels a connection with the girl and can see a string connecting them.

"This feels weird." He remarks.

"It's supposed to, it's a soul connection, the deepest level of contract between ghosts, now everything you feel, I feel, and vice versa. Now you have to take care of me and make sure I never get hurt." She tells him, a sweet smile on her face.

"What!? You mean there was a different contract we could've done! You tricked me!" He shouts at her in rage. He doesn't dare use the knife against her, afraid of what this soul connection could do.

"I-is everything alright? Did you defeat the ghost?" Carly asks at the entrance to the stairwell.

"Ah, yeah. Are you guys alright?" He asks Carly.

"Mhm, a few light scratches but we're safe." She answers.

"Hmph, I should've killed that woman sooner, then I wouldn't be stuck in this horrible situation." The ghost woman pouts. Leslie ignores her and continues to converse with Carly.

"I'm going to go back upstairs to make sure everything is alright, will you guys be alright here?" He questions.

"Yeah, I think we can handle-" She doesn't get to finish her sentence as a loud crashing noise comes from down the hall. Leslie rushes over to see Belle, Cam, and the ghost in a suit have fallen through the ceiling.

"Shit! That fucking hurt!" Belle groans, rubbing his back where he fell.

"What the hell!?" Leslie exclaims in shock.

"I'll tell you what happened later, first let's fuck this guy up," Belle says menacingly, cracking his knuckles.
