Chapter 11: Everything is under control?
Liora and Zyra can see all the other half-elves like her blocking them as they carry Arthur in a princess carry. Some of them have brown hair, others have black hair, and, rarely, a few have the hair color of an Elven bloodline, which means those are the ones with more Elven blood than humans.
How can these elves have human bloodlines when they took over this human world only five years ago? That is a story for another time.
They don't find the others' reactions weird at all. If they were in their shoes as women, they would have also stopped them and gotten answers from them—and, if not satisfied, they would have to fight it out.
But Liora feels a little worried seeing them; however, Zyra only has a relaxed expression on her face, as she already expected something like this to happen and is prepared for it. She looked at them coldly and said in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear clearly.
"The Warden is the one who asked us to bring Arthur back to his room after she healed him because he got a serious injury inside the mines using her magic."
She looked into the eyes of the ones at the forefront and could see the fear in them as she asked them once again.
"Do you really want to stop us from following the Warden's orders now?"
All the half-elves hearing her words started to back away in fear, as they didn't want to get involved in something the Warden ordered. They could imagine their fate wouldn't be good if they delayed her any further, and if the Warden somehow noticed. So, they started saying goodbye to avoid causing a misunderstanding.
"Haha, Zyra, we were joking—you understand us, right?" one of the elves said awkwardly while another followed up.
"Yes, Zyra, we are women—we sometimes joke!" After that, all the elves agreed with her one after another.
"Yes!"
"Yeah!"
"We women sometimes joke!"
Zyra understood why they were acting this way, but while holding Arthur in her arms, she didn't want to see these bitches' faces anymore, so she said what they were expecting her to say.
"Go away now; I'm not going to report this to the Warden."
Their faces were twitching slightly because of the way she was telling them to get lost with such an attitude. She may not have actually said the words, but as women, they could feel when another woman was disrespecting them.
But they weren't going to risk offending her now when she was following the Warden's orders. Still, they weren't going to forgive her for this; with these thoughts, one by one, they cleared the way for her to go inside the wooden building.
Liora was only looking blankly at her friend, who had just made almost every woman there her enemy, but she felt relieved knowing she wasn't the one who had messed up. What shocked her more was how her friend had lied through her teeth and used the Warden.
'Who does she think she is? I know she's going to get her ass whooped sooner or later. Luckily, I'm safe,' she thought as a sigh of relief escaped her lips.
As they entered the lift, powered by a magic stone, Zyra kept quiet. However, she had noticed everything her friend had done until now and even noticed the smallest bits of her reactions.
As they pressed the button for the top floor to reach Arthur's room, and as the gate finally closed, she finally said what she had wanted to say.
"Liora, don't think you were not with me when I used the Warden's name earlier. They're also coming for you too, so good luck to you, my friend."
Liora had a pale expression on her face after hearing her friend's words, so she asked her to confirm this once again.
"D-Do you t-think t-they are coming for m-me too?"
Zyra looked at her friend, only smiled a little, and didn't reply to her at all. Seeing the smile on her face, Liora confirmed she was also in trouble now and showed her annoyance.
"This is not fair! You're the one who pissed all the women off; why am I getting dragged into your fight?" Liora had thought of helping her tend to her injuries after the beating she would get and even buying her a low-grade healing potion. However, this was not something Liora could easily accept.
She clenched her head, thinking about how she would face them now. While she was in her own dilemma, they reached the top floor, and Zyra, without waiting, started walking toward Arthur's room to lay him on his comfortable bed.
Looking at his handsome face, she even forgot all her worries about regularly sending information to her clan. She just wanted to take him away and run somewhere far where no one could find them.
'But now is not the right time, Zyra. You can't make any mistakes on this.' She already had the money to buy Arthur's freedom, but to avoid raising suspicion, she planned to buy him using the money earned from her job, as she was supposed to be an orphan half-elf working here with no background.
She looked at her hopeless friend, who had taught her how to enjoy life even better than before.
'Argh! I'll also take this fool away with me when I run away.'
She had come here to provide information to her clan, and even her identity and strength were fake. However, she considered Liora her first friend and wasn't going to leave her alone when she ran away with Arthur.
"Are you coming or not?"
Liora snapped out of her reverie as she heard the voice of her friend, who had betrayed her, still with an annoyed expression on her face. She went with her.
Reaching the wooden door, which had intricate designs on it, she lifted Arthur's sleeve and used her hand to touch the slave mark on the magical symbol drawn on the door.
Right after that, she pushed the door open to enter his room. If she hadn't used the slave mark to unlock the door, it would have alerted others by sending a magical signal to let them know someone had infiltrated the room of one of the men living there.
But knowing how strict the punishment was, no one was crazy enough to try this stunt, as most elves believed in love. While it wasn't uncommon for some elves to struggle to control their feelings, it was rare for them to actually act on them however there are some exceptions which she is not going to think about right now.
Both of them entered his room for the first time, and seeing how his room hadn't changed at all since the first time he got it, they weren't surprised.
They had never seen him go outside with friends or even spend any money at the shop they had set up just outside the building to give the men living here a better environment.
He has even not made use of those which gives them the idea that is more of a quiet handsome man they have watched in human dramas as living for 5 years on this planet has made them hooked on the human entertainment industry.
