Chapter 14: Flickering Red Transparent Screen?
Both of them hearing him say "hungry" with a blushing face, find him cute. However, they knew they couldn't linger on this thought any longer, as they had to give him something to eat, so Zyra said to Liora in a calm voice.
"Liora, go and bring something good for Arthur to eat now."
Liora feels irritated hearing her words, as she doesn't want to leave Zyra alone with Arthur, who has lost his memories. So, she replied to her words right after hearing them.
"No! You should go. I will take care of Arthur, so go now; he is hungry."
Zyra also doesn't want to leave Arthur alone with her, so they only stare intensely into each other's eyes for a few seconds.
Arthur, lying on the bed still blushing, looked at their perfectly defined bodies, which was too much for him to handle as a virgin. However, he wouldn't deny he enjoyed the sight. When he saw them arguing about who was going to stay, he had some thoughts in his mind.
'Why did that dumb Arthur not notice how they are clearly in love with him?'
'Hah! They are such dumb people, while I, in my previous world, struggled to find someone I could love and get the same feeling from in return. This fool didn't even realize such beautiful women were loving him.'
He had gone on a few blind dates before; however, the only thing he got in return was that they had free dinners using what little money he had and then left him afterward.
He doesn't know if they love him wholeheartedly or if they're like those in this world who are called "playwomen," referring to the playboys of his previous world.
However, for someone like him, giving them a chance when they are clearly interested in him is not even a question to ask.
'Why would I reject them when I stooped as low as deciding on a brothel to lose my virginity? Luckily, I hadn't done that.'
'I would have regretted it if I had died afterward and come here only to see two beautiful half-elves openly showing their love toward me.'
So he only enjoyed their lovely interaction while looking at their well-defined bodies with a blushing face lying in the soft comfort of the fluffy bed.
After a few more seconds of staring at each other, Zyra could see this wasn't going anywhere, so she used her mana to activate her space ring on her left hand's index finger, which is quite common in their world.
The one she is wearing right now is a cheap one, with only one cubic meter of space.
Out of nowhere, a few similar-looking strange fruits appeared in her hands, which is not something a human without the ability to sense mana would usually eat, as it would help them gain some mana naturally.
While it wouldn't be equal to a mana potion, it's a much cheaper alternative.
Still, this is not something a guard like her would give to anyone, as it is still costly. Zyra knows all this but she doesn't want to leave, so she decides to give this to Arthur, knowing it won't have any effect on him.
'For real me, these fruits are quite cheap' as the family provides her sufficient pay for spying on Lady Green.
Liora wanted to say something, but she decided not to, thinking that giving these to Arthur would not be a waste even if he is a normal human, yet affected by her love for him.
Zyra used her mana to lift Arthur's body slowly up and keep him in a sitting position, thinking if she acted more touchy, he would think she was creepy, as she knew women couldn't touch a man's body without his consent.
Arthur could feel some energy lifting his body up, which he couldn't see, but he knew it was magic, something he saw in the memories of the previous Arthur.
'Wow, this is so cool! How I wish I could use magic like them too.'
'Unfortunately, I can't. I'm destined not to use magic at all. However, I don't care about that as much now, knowing two such beautiful elves love me.'
But deep down, Arthur knew he was lying to himself, as when he first saw the memories of the previous Arthur, he was excited about using magic after getting a golden finger and becoming an immortal powerhouse like he had read in novels and seen in anime.
But reality put cold water on his dreams once again, crushing them. But this time, he didn't feel as much disappointment, as in his previous life, he had dreamed of becoming a doctor after his mother's death when he was thirteen.
However, he didn't even finish high school properly, and in the last week of high school, reality hit him hard when he realized he didn't have enough money to eat, let alone the time to follow his dreams, as he was busy barely surviving.
Seeing one of the half-elves put a luxurious-looking fruit in front of him, which he had never seen before, he realized it must be expensive.
However, he didn't complain, and this only made him have a good impression of the one who had magically given him this fruit.
'No one has ever given me such an expensive-looking fruit before.'
So, before taking the fruit and starting to eat, he said meekly, without making any eye contact and with a blush on his face, as he was still too embarrassed.
"T-Thank you."
Right after saying these words, he quickly grabbed one of the fruits and brought it closer to his mouth to start eating. However, just as he took the first bite and started chewing the sweet, delicious fruit hungrily and swallowed, a red transparent loading screen started to flicker in front of him.
This shocked him completely, causing him to even stop eating the fruit and freeze in place, knowing exactly what that was.
'I tried everything earlier, but the system didn't show up at all. What has changed?'
He started to think, still frozen in place with a shocked expression on his handsome face.
'Does this mean these fruits are what I needed to awaken the system?'
But he quickly dismissed the idea, thinking that while these fruits looked expensive, they wouldn't be enough to give him a system. Then he remembered something.
'Yes! I swallowed that strange green gemstone with those ancient runes and symbols on it. Even I could tell that was something precious.'
'This means these fruits acted as a trigger to awaken the system I got after swallowing the green gemstone.'
He was about to think even more, but suddenly he heard the voice of the same elf who had given him the fruit, which brought him out of his reverie.
"Do you not like the taste of this fruit? If that's the case, I can bring you something else to eat."
Arthur felt ashamed, realizing that his unusual, shocked reaction and long thinking had caused this beautiful, kind elf to think he didn't like the fruit she had given him.
So he quickly replied to her determined to correct his mistake with a beet-red face, even knowing talking this much to them was still hard for him.
"S-Sorry. I-It is so delicious that I-I even forgot to e-eat after the f-first bite and f-froze in place. S-So s-sorry for making y-you w-worry."
