"They said people from the northern region of Sandspear are missing under mysterious circumstances," Mirabella recounted, repeating the reason her crew had informed her.

Eros hummed. "They are. Until now, more than ten people have disappeared... cleanly. Not even bones remain."

Hearing the king's words, Mirabella grew worried for her own people. Her brows furrowed. "If His Majesty knew the danger, why not send your own men? We came to Dusthaven just to escort you," she said, unable to keep the blame from her tone. If he hadn't issued the order, by now she and her crew would have already departed for their homeland.

Eros rested his cheek on his knuckles, nodding nonchalantly. "That's true. But I don't trust the people under me," he shrugged casually.

"And so you decided to put your faith in strangers?" Mirabella scoffed in disbelief.

"Why? Don't you believe in your people?" Eros raised an eyebrow, his tone teasing.
