Under the suspicious stares of the surrounding people, the magistrate cleared his throat. "What nonsense are you speaking? What silk? I can only afford the faded cotton loincloth, which I've been using for more than a month!" he spat angrily.
Soiled cloth is better than a soiled reputation, he thought.
"Is that so? But how can we believe you? One must show evidence for their claim," Eros stated nonchalantly, his eyes drifting to the magistrate's pants with a wicked grin curling on his lips.
"Is the king going to strip the magistrate in public?" Jax couldn't help but ask. He had assumed the king was an indomitable man who upheld respect and dignity as decorum, but after watching him sit on a man's lap earlier, that assumption had vanished into thin air.
Hearing Jax's question, Toby clicked his tongue. With his dwarf stature, he lifted his head and scolded Jax. "What are you, a fool? How could a dignified royal do something like that?" he said confidently.
