Chapter 274 - Chapter 21: The Tournament of Power Part Seven

Despite the brief duration of Goku and Jiren's battle, it stirred the hearts of everyone present. All the warriors on the arena were strong fighters from their respective universes, yet they had not anticipated encountering someone as powerful as Jiren or Goku from other universes.

Having witnessed the clash between these two titans, many felt their own strength had increased significantly.

Now, with another high-level duel about to unfold, the crowd quickly gathered around once more.

Hit and Dispo took their stances, both fighting for their universes and martial arts beliefs, signaling that a fierce battle was imminent.

John Doe was particularly focused on Hit's fight; he was eager to learn Hit's time-skip technique. During their previous brief encounter, he hadn't been able to grasp it fully.

Dispо launched the first attack, rapidly closing in on Hit under everyone's watchful eyes.

Just as Hit was about to activate his time-skip, Dispo suddenly increased his speed and charged straight at Hit's face.

"What?!" Vegeta and Goku exclaimed in shock. "Did Hit's time-skip just get countered?!"

Other warriors were equally surprised, mostly astonished by Dispo's speed rather than Hit's time-skip being broken, as most had not yet had the chance to experience Hit's technique firsthand.

John Doe commented, "No wonder Dispo is confident in countering Hit's time-skip; he must have anticipated the moment Hit was about to use it and then accelerated his speed thousands of times before Hit could react."

"But how did he know Hit was about to use the time-skip?" Goku asked curiously.

John Doe shook his head. "I'm not sure yet, but clearly, this precognitive ability is Dispo's biggest trump card in countering Hit's technique."

On the battlefield, Hit looked astonished. In all his years of fighting, this was the first time someone had successfully countered his time-skip. However, having experienced numerous battles over the years, he quickly regained his composure.

He stood up again and prepared to continue fighting Dispo; getting hit once wasn't going to break him.

Dispo glared at Hit with frustration and charged at him again with full force.

Hit didn't back down either; he charged towards Dispo. As they were about to collide, he activated his time-skip once more.

John Doe and the others watched with anticipation, hoping that this time Hit would successfully execute his technique. However, they were once again disappointed as Dispo managed to counter Hit's time-skip again.

Under Dispo's rapid attacks, Hit was sent flying into the air before crashing heavily onto the arena floor.

If the first instance could be considered a fluke, then having it happen twice confirmed that Dispo had indeed figured out how to counter Hit's time-skip.

Though both hits had not severely injured him, Hit stood up again. By now, he had recognized the key to why his time-skip was being countered but still couldn't understand how Dispo timed his attacks so perfectly.

Meanwhile, John Doe seemed to have an epiphany. He muttered to himself, "So that's it; that's the key to how he's countering."

Goku quickly asked, "How did he figure that out?"

Vegeta leaned in attentively as well.

John Doe slowly explained: "Every time Hit uses his time-skip, there are high-frequency vibrations in his muscles and bones that occur. These vibrations produce sounds that human ears can't detect."

"But Dispo is different; being an animal-like humanoid gives him a broader range of hearing frequencies than us humans. So he can pick up on those high-frequency sounds generated when Hit activates his technique."

"That's why he's able to hit Hit before he can even use his time-skip."

"Of course, this is just my guess; I'm not sure how accurate it is until Hit tests it himself."

John Doe's insights were clear and straightforward. The surrounding warriors listened intently—including both Hit and Dispo standing at the center of attention.

Hit realized: "So that's why! I never noticed my body emitted high-frequency vibrations when I activated my time-skip."

"Hmph! So what? Unless you do nothing at all, your muscles and bones will always create friction with movement. Especially when you're preparing to use your time-skip; that friction creates sharper sounds."

"This is a characteristic inherent in all living beings—there's no way around it. So even if you know my secret now, what difference does it make?" Despite having his method exposed, Dispo remained unfazed.

Hearing Dispo's confident words made Hit burst into laughter. "Even if you figured out my time-skip technique, you still won't defeat me! You don't think I'm just a one-trick pony as Universe Six's top assassin, do you?!"

Dispo grew frustrated by Hit's unwavering confidence after having his technique countered. He replied sternly: "Anyone can talk big; overconfidence can lead to a humiliating defeat!"

Hit readied himself again and calmly stated: "Then let's see what you've got!"

With both warriors having exchanged threats once more, they resumed their fierce exchange of attacks. This time, however, Hit did not remain passive; instead, he took the initiative against Dispo.

All surrounding warriors held their breath in anticipation to see how Hit would respond to Dispo's relentless assaults.

However, many spectators felt disappointed by the ensuing battle dynamics. Although Hit chose not to use his time-skip this round and engaged in close combat instead, Dispo clearly maintained an advantage due to his speed.

Hit endured numerous blows from Dispo—one after another—until...

Gohan remarked from the sidelines: "Is Hit going to lose?!"

Goku replied: "No! Although it looks like he's struggling now, he's skillfully avoiding critical hits while adapting to Dispo's attack speed."

"Ah! Is that so?!" Gohan quickly focused again on observing closely.

With a loud crash, Dispo sent Hit flying once more; he landed heavily on the arena floor and slid toward its edge before finally stopping just short of falling off.

Excitedly charging at him with a raised fist, Dispo shouted: "You're finished! You have no retreat left!"

At that critical moment, however, Hit finally activated his time-skip again. Dispo's figure passed right through Hit's afterimage as he fell off the edge of the arena!

"It's over!" Dispo screamed as he saw himself plummeting into an abyss below.
