With their plan in place, the two began their training. After John Doe introduced the concept of Super Saiyan 2, Goku also suggested a training method—to maintain the Super Saiyan transformation as a constant state.
"The limit of Super Saiyan power is to make the Super Saiyan state our permanent form," Goku explained. "If we can maintain this state without losing our stamina and reverting to our regular black-haired state, we'll eventually reach the peak of Super Saiyan power."
John Doe naturally agreed with this idea, as it was Goku's suggestion, and the original storyline had proven its validity. During their battle with Cell, Goku, in this state, had held his own against a Cell who was at least 80% or even 90% of his full power.
Gohan had also maintained this state, and with the encouragement of Android 16, he had transformed into a Super Saiyan 2, the Lightning Form.
Gohan, listening to his father and Uncle John Doe discussing how to surpass the Super Saiyan form, couldn't help but feel excited.
Noticing the envy in Gohan's eyes, John Doe asked, "Gohan, do you want to transform into a Super Saiyan, too?"
Gohan's face lit up with joy at the question. "Uncle John Doe, can I?"
"Of course, you can. You have Saiyan blood in your veins, so you can definitely transform into a Super Saiyan."
"But it's not easy to transform. You'll need to train hard. Only when your strength reaches a certain level will you be able to transform successfully. So, keep training, and you'll need to work even harder than before."
"I will! I promise I'll work even harder," Gohan said, clenching his fist.
After everything was discussed, they began their training according to the plan. John Doe and Goku started trying to transform into Super Saians and then worked on maintaining the state for longer periods.
At first, they couldn't even hold the transformation for half an hour. In the Super Saiyan state, their stamina drained quickly, like a balloon with a small hole, constantly leaking air.
However, as they continued to train, the hole in the balloon became smaller and smaller. After a year, they could maintain the Super Saiyan state for an entire day, as long as they weren't engaged in intense battles.
Not only did John Doe and Goku make significant progress, but Gohan also successfully transformed into a Super Saiyan a few days ago.
Piccolo's strength had also increased tremendously. Although he didn't fuse with Nail in this world, his training with Goku and John Doe had accelerated his growth.
Just as they were training hard to surpass the Super Saiyan form and reach Super Saiyan 2, a phone call interrupted their peaceful routine. It was Bulma.
"John Doe, in the past few days, our space probe has been receiving a signal from space. I thought it was just a regular pulse signal, but after deciphering it, I realized it's a distress call."
"Bulma, can you tell me what the signal says?" John Doe asked.
"Sure, let me find it."
There was a brief silence on the other end of the line before Bulma spoke again. "It says, 'Big Brother Ping, I'm Kanu. The planet I'm on has been targeted by Frieza's army. They're massacring everyone here. Please come and save me!'"
After reading the entire distress call, Bulma said, "That's the whole message. I'm not sure if I translated the name correctly."
"The name is correct. Thank you, Bulma, for passing on this message."
"John Doe, please don't go to space to save someone. This could be a trap. Didn't that boy from the future warn you that you never returned after going to space?" Bulma said, concerned.
"Thank you, Bulma. I'll think about it and get back to you later, okay?" John Doe replied.
"Alright, I'll wait for your call." Bulma hung up, slightly annoyed.
As John Doe and Goku heard the dial tone, they looked at each other.
"John Doe, you're not seriously considering going to space to save this Kanu, are you?" Piccolo asked.
Goku also curiously inquired, "By the way, John Doe, who is Kanu? Why haven't we heard you mention him before?"
John Doe then shared the story of his friendship with Kanu. "Although I didn't know Kanu for long, he was a true friend to me during the time we spent together."
"So, are you going or not?" Goku asked.
"Of course, I'm going. I can't let Kanu be in danger," John Doe affirmed.
"What I'm thinking about now is who the enemy is that Trunks said could make me disappear in space. We've defeated Frieza and Cooler, the strongest in the Frieza Force. Who else could threaten my safety?" John Doe pondered.
Goku suggested, "Why don't I come with you, John Doe? The fact that Trunks said that proves the enemy you'll face in space is very powerful."
"No, Goku. You and John Doe can only go one at a time. The Androids could appear at any moment. If both of you are trapped in space, there will be no one left to protect Earth," Piccolo stated.
Then, turning to John Doe, Piccolo said, "For your safety, I'll come with you to space to help. Although my strength is average, I can still provide support."
John Doe shook his head. "No, Piccolo. Your safety is more important than mine. You're the one who can ensure the safety of the Earth's Dragon Balls. You can't go."
"What should we do, then? Neither you nor Piccolo can accompany me," Goku said, scratching his chin in thought.
"Don't worry. Nothing will happen. In Trunks' world, I disappeared because no one knew my situation in space. By the time the Androids appeared, Piccolo was dead, and the Earth's Dragon Balls were gone, so they couldn't use them to bring me back," John Doe explained.
"Also, Goku died early, and since he was the only one who knew Instant Transmission, they couldn't find the new location of Namek and couldn't use the Dragon Balls. That's what led to that outcome."
"But this time, we're prepared. If I don't return before the Androids arrive, you can use the Dragon Balls to bring me back," John Doe shared his plan.
After hearing John Doe's plan, Goku and Piccolo thought it over and agreed.
