Having made the decision to eliminate the remaining three Saiyans, Frieza immediately arranged for a spaceship and army to prepare for their journey to Earth.
Vegeta and Nappa had been under Frieza's watchful eye, so Frieza planned to wait until one of them emerged victorious, or until they were both weakened, before making his move.
Thus, a small planet on the outskirts of the Milky Way galaxy became the epicentre of a massive battle, one that would change the entire galaxy and the Seventh Universe.
On Earth, at the Kame House, everyone was aware that the remaining two Saiyans would arrive in a year's time, which gave them a slight reprieve, at least a year to prepare.
Everyone decided to go their separate ways and train hard for a year in preparation for the impending Saiyan invasion.
Naturally, the most powerful among them, John Doe and Goku, trained together, while the others, who had never entered the Room of Spirit and Time, were invited by God to train there, which would amount to nearly three years of training time.
The only one who wasn't invited was Piccolo; God would never invite him to the Room of Spirit and Time.
Seeing Piccolo standing alone, Goku invited him to train with them, saying, "Piccolo, why don't you train with us?"
Piccolo asked coolly, "Don't you fear that once I've increased my power, I'll defeat you and rule the Earth?"
Upon hearing Goku and Piccolo's conversation, everyone was surprised. Krillin wanted to speak up and advise Goku, but John Doe stopped him, saying, "Don't worry, it's fine."
In truth, John Doe was thinking, 'Goku's family's nanny should be online now. I can't end up being their nanny, can I?'
Goku, upon hearing Piccolo's words, said, "If you can defeat us, it can only prove that our power isn't enough. As for ruling the Earth, as long as you don't kill innocents, we don't oppose it."
Goku and Piccolo stared at each other, but there was no hatred in their eyes, only an infinite amount of bromance.
In the end, Piccolo followed Goku and John Doe back to Mount Frypan.
When Chi-Chi found out that Piccolo would be living with them for the next year, she was unhappy.
John Doe didn't care; after all, he had given the Son family five billion Sony, and even if he had a big appetite, the interest alone would be enough to sustain him.
But what did Piccolo deserve? He wasn't a relative or a friend.
At this point, John Doe whispered to Chi-Chi, "Chi-Chi, Piccolo doesn't need to eat; he only needs to drink water, which costs nothing. Plus, he'll be an extra pair of hands to help with the farm work and heavy lifting."
Upon hearing John Doe's words, Chi-Chi, who was initially suspicious, asked, "Does he really only need to drink water?"
John Doe immediately nodded vigorously, desperate to extricate himself from his role as the Son family's nanny. The previous year, he had noticed that Gohan was a bit dependent on him, and that was not a good situation.
Upon learning that Piccolo didn't eat like John Doe and Goku, and that he only drank water, which was virtually cost-free, Chi-Chi's attitude changed immediately. She turned to Piccolo and said, "Alright, I'll let you stay, but you'd better help out with the heavy work."
Piccolo, looking at the human woman in front of him, thought to himself, 'Do you think I didn't hear what you were whispering? I just don't want to argue with you. But once my power catches up to Goku and John Doe, I'll teach you a lesson.'
Although Piccolo thought this way, he agreed to stay.
Thus, the three of them, plus a child, began a year of intense training, striving to improve their power.
Because Piccolo's power was lower, even when John Doe and Goku held back, they easily defeated him, so most of the time, Goku and John Doe fought each other.
Piccolo, who was watching the battle, turned his attention to Gohan.
"Hey, kid, they're sparring. Let's spar too," Piccolo suggested.
At that moment, Gohan was concentrating on watching the battle between his father and John Doe. Suddenly, he heard Piccolo calling him.
Gohan turned to Piccolo and asked, "Are you talking to me?"
Piccolo nodded and said, "Of course. There are only four of us here. Who else would I be talking to?"
Upon hearing that Piccolo was talking to him, Gohan hesitated and said, "But I've only been training for a year, and my power is still too weak. I can't beat you!"
Upon hearing Gohan's words, Piccolo burst out laughing and said, "Of course you can't beat me. But isn't that why you need to train more? Just watching won't make you a strong warrior."
"Do you still think you can defeat your enemies with a gun? Come on, let's spar," Piccolo continued to suggest.
Gohan, who had Saiyan genes, was naturally warlike. He had been watching the battle from the sidelines, and his desire for combat was already burning within him. So he nodded his agreement.
Thus, Piccolo and Gohan began to fight, and of course, Gohan was soundly defeated by Piccolo.
The sound of Piccolo and Gohan's battle also woke John Doe and Goku, who were in the middle of training. They watched as Gohan furiously attacked Piccolo, only to be soundly defeated. John Doe and Goku exchanged glances.
As Goku moved forward to stop the fight, John Doe stopped him, saying, "Goku, let's just let Piccolo train Gohan. You and I have been too lenient with Goku, and we can't bring ourselves to hurt him."
"But we all know that to become a true warrior, one needs to be tempered. So let Piccolo be Gohan's whetstone. We just need to provide them with logistical support, and we have Senzu Beans too. Even if Gohan is seriously injured, it won't matter."
Upon hearing John Doe's words, Goku stopped and quietly watched the determined-looking Gohan, lost in thought for a moment.
After about ten seconds, Goku turned to John Doe and said, "You're right, John Doe. Let's continue training. My power has increased a lot recently. How about you?"
"I think you've been slacking off lately. In our previous battles, I won more than I lost. In recent years, we've tied several times in a row."
John Doe was immediately upset and said, "Nonsense. We tied because I didn't show all my power, for fear of defeating you too much and damaging your confidence."
"Is that so? But why don't I believe you? Prove it to me..." Goku said, making a provocative gesture.
Thus, Goku and John Doe began to fight again.
