Published: November 20XX
SPECIAL FEATURE: A Human in Command
Introduction
This month, we delve into the ascent of Baroness Kaprice Sanaa Voss, the first human to rise among the ranks of demonical hierarchy and within the Loyal Defenders of the Realm Abyss (LDRA). Her recent appointment as the Baroness of Sableford has sparked fierce debated and resentment amongst the demonic race, including many upper ranked demon. They expressed feeling her presence—and her position—-are nothing short of an affront to demonic supermacy.
A Rising Star in the Demon Hierarchy
Baroness Kaprice Sanaa Voss, a Lieutenant of the Dreadborne Phalanx Platoon under Duke of Vexheim's Reaper Legion, had rapidly climbed the ranks within her six years of service. Now, holding a title which many demons believe should remain exclusive to their race. Appointed by Duke Dazriel of Vexheim, this generated a lot of controversy around his intentions too.
"I didn't even want to really be Baroness nor Lieutenant nor join LDRA," Kaprice insisted in a recent interview. "Dazriel chained me down and forced me into the ceremonies I didn't want to take part of. Many are made at me for a place their own kind forced me into, and over some of the demons on the list at that. If they want to hate me for it, hate Dazriel." Her candidness reflected a deep-seated frustration with her forced status among the demonic elite and with Duke Dazriel as well.
Battle Achievements and Rising Tensions
Kaprice's battlefield exploits, and particularly her mastery of Creeping Dread, had earned her both respect and fear amongst the realms. Her ability to instill chaos among enemy rank has led to decisive victories including:
• The Siege of Eldenhold: Kaprice turned the tide of the battle by breaking morale of the opposing army. The cause of mass panic and disarray of even demons breaking down their forces. Her black, suffocating smoking shattering their cohesion of self and resulting in a complete rout.
• The Shadow Conclave: Here, she orchestrated a strategic ambush against a coalition of power demons. Using her abilities to manipulate the battlefield by making the enemies turn on each other and slaughter comrades. Leading to a staggering victory with minimum casualties.
• The Desolation Campaign: One of Kaprice most brutal conflicts, Lady Kaprice, along with the Reaper Legion went into a brutal assault on a small territory belonging to the Draezar Empire. This was where the The Duchess of Isle Blue, Veyloris Malketh, was being held captive. With Creeping Dread, she descended enemy soldiers into madness—some clawing at their faces in desperation and other turned their own weapons in a vain attempt to escape from her terror. Her unit slaughtered the remaining forces, ensuring no survivors—not even the wounded. By the campaign's end, Lady Kaprice and the Reaper Legion had not only secured Duchess Veloyris freedom, but seized the terroriting soldifying her title as the dreadborne from the middle world.
Yet, her successes have not went without opposition though her influence continues to rise. Great Demon Lord Ose, the commander-in-chief of the LDRA, and the supreme ruler of the Garoth Empire maintains a distant perspective: "Lady Kaprice's position of little consequence," he says with a low, amused tone and a faint smile on his lips. "But her power…now that's something else that even I couldn't ignore."
His smile hinted at a wry acknowledgment of her strength, though his indifference to her role remain clear. While he doesn't concern himself with her methods or rank, he recognize the forces she represents. His words left many uneasy and unsure of where her rising power will lead. Demon Lord Ose himself seems entertained by the uproar she has brought in the Empire.
Demon Elite Reactions to Kaprice's Rise
The ranking system among the Abyssbound Paragons has been thrown into disarray, and many demons express their disdain for a human holding such a prestigious title:
• General Kaorath, known for his brutal tactics, scoffed, "A human? Outranking any of us? It's an insult to our lineage. She knows nothing of our struggles or our power. How can we trust someone who lacks our blood?" His contempt reflects a broader sentiment among demons who view Kaprice as a usurper.
• Archon Syris echoed this disdain, stating, "This is a mockery of our traditions. A mere human cannot possibly comprehend the weight of command in this realm. We are warriors of darkness; she is a human aberration." Syris's remarks highlight the underlying fears among demon ranks that her rise could signal a shift in the power dynamics.
• Lady Selene, Duchess of Diremoor, added scornfully, "Let her revel in her temporary triumph. The demons on the list will remind her of her place. Our blood is what gives us strength, not just some pitiful tricks." The Duchess's words reflect a disbelief that Kaprice could destabilize the very foundations of demon hierarchy as other demons.
Among these criticisms, there are also murmurs regarding Great Demon Lord Ose's indifference toward Kaprice's rise. Some demons whisper, "His tolerance for her is baffling, almost like he wants her there. Why would he allow such a homosapien among us? They were four legged animals a fee million years ago." Their apprehensions grew with a fear that Ose's seemingly indifferent stance could lead to a paradigm shift they are unprepared for. Yet, they remain cautious; Ose's wrath is legendary, and crossing him could mean certain doom. Even for the strongest of the demon elites.
Kaprice, unfazed by their fears and disdain, reacted to Ose's indifferent remarks with defiance: "I don't find joy in not making Ose angry, so I don't care for his opinion about my rank or my power. I'm here to do the bidding of a demon like humans always have, except I just have a title among your kind. Is that what you fear? A mere human?" Her steadfastness underscores her determination to not only survive but thrive in an environment that seeks to marginalize her for what has been earned, forced or not.
Dazriel's Role and Future Plans
In contrast, Dazriel thrives on the uproar surrounding Lady Kaprice and suggested he may elevate her to Duchess of Vexheim in the future. "Her elevation could cement my power and disrupt the status quo," he claims with a knowing smile and he relishing in the discord she has sown among rival factions. "A woman who can make this much noise is fitting for the title of my wife. Don't you think?"
"I'm not marrying Dazriel." Was Lady Kaprice response to Lord Dazriel plan.
Exclusive Interview: Kaprice Sanaa Voss Responds to Critics
Interviewer: "Lady Kaprice Voss of Sableford. Wow, what a title for a human. What do you say to those who doubt your ability to lead?"
Kaprice: "I haven't even heard of most of the names on the list, so fear who? If they want to waste their energy resenting me instead of focusing on our enemies, that's on them." Her fearlessness is undeniable and the lack of unknowlegement of some of the elites are sure to bring controversy amongst them. Maybe even physical altercation in the future.
Interviewer: "Do you think your human heritage undermines your position?"
Kaprice: "My abilities speak for themselves, even the demons can't lie about. I earned a place, regardless if I wanted it or not, and if they want to take it they could simply kill me. Weak demons are the only ones who fear me, that's why they complain while I still stand untouched. Her unyielding confidence demonstrates her refusal to bow to the prejudices of those who question her worth.
The Shift in Power Dynamics
As Kaprice navigates her dual status within the LDRA and the demon noble hierarchy with her presence posing a significant challenge to established norms of of the underworld. Many demons fear that her ascent is not just a personal victory but a harbinger of change that could disrupt centuries of tradition and potential give power to human supremacy in the underworld.
• Skepticism Among the Ranks:
Several high-ranking demons have already plotted against her as they saw her rise as a direct threat to their influence. Rumors of assassination attempts swirl with each one more audacious than the last. Yet, Kaprice remains unfazed and claimed that such threats only fuel her determination to grasp higher reaches.
• A Symbol of Change:
Despite the animosity, some view her rise as a potential catalyst for progress. Great Demon Lord Ose, though indifferent, admits, "Kaprice brings a certain change to the ranks that is not unwelcome. Change can be unsettling for people who don't thrive, but it also presents new opportunities for those who can." This recognition suggests that her presence may not be entirely detrimental to the LDRA, at least to the Great Demon Lord Ose.
Conclusion: A Symbol of Change or Disruption?
Baroness Kaprice Voss stands as a polarizing figure in the demon realm with her challenge of the age-old traditions that dictate power and rank. As she continues to navigate the complexities of her status, the question lingers: Is she a harbinger of change, or will her presence lead to further human supremacy uprise and the taking over of the Garoth Empire and even the underworld?
As tensions rise and allegiances shift, the impact of Kaprice's ascent remains to be seen as of yet. Will she solidify her position and usher in a new era, or will the very demons she serves ultimately conspire against her? Only time will tell for the young dreadborne from the middleworld.
