Ryosuke gently closed the door to his room and leaned against it, arms crossed, a mix of excitement and disbelief on his face. The news their mother had just shared still echoed in his mind.
Aunt Yuki… Yuki Tsukumo, he thought, shaking his head slightly. He still couldn't wrap his head around it.
All these years, he had believed that his aunt, whom he hadn't seen in ages, was simply a journalist, traveling the world to cover distant events. But ever since he remembered his past life and realized he was in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, everything had become clear.
Yuki Tsukumo, one of the most powerful Jujutsu sorcerers, was no longer just a fictional character… she was his aunt.
He took a few steps into his room and sat on the edge of his bed, looking thoughtful. He ran a hand through his hair, eyes fixed on the ceiling. A whirlwind of thoughts swirled in his mind.
Yuki Tsukumo, he repeated to himself. She wasn't just any sorcerer, she was one of the few who opposed the traditional Jujutsu methods. In the manga, she didn't appear until the Shibuya Incident, a pivotal moment in the story. At this point, Ryosuke hadn't revisited that part of his memories in detail, but he remembered that she was an important figure—both powerful and enigmatic.
He smiled despite himself as he thought about his sister Sayuri's reaction. She had no idea of their aunt's true identity. To her, as well as the rest of the family, Yuki was simply their mother's slightly eccentric sister, who occasionally sent postcards from around the world and rarely visited.
She's going to be in for a big surprise, Ryosuke thought, imagining the look on his aunt's face when she found out her nephew was also a Jujutsu sorcerer.
If Yuki was coming to see them tonight, it surely wasn't just a casual visit. Why now? And why, after all these years, had she decided to return at this particular moment? Ryosuke couldn't help but wonder if it had something to do with Suguru Geto. After all, in a few months, Geto would unleash his parade of curses.
Or had Yuki simply found a moment of respite in her hectic Jujutsu life to spend time with her family?
No, it can't be that simple.
The world of Jujutsu rarely allowed for visits without a reason. There was always something behind it.
He jumped to his feet, unable to sit still. Ryosuke paced back and forth in his room, his mind racing. His thoughts kept returning to the events of the manga. He knew the story was just beginning for him. At this point, he hadn't encountered any other key characters from Jujutsu Kaisen, but his aunt's arrival might mark the start of a series of long-awaited meetings.
He suddenly stopped in front of his desk, where a stack of books and notebooks awaited him. How was he supposed to focus on science lessons when one of the most enigmatic characters from the manga was about to walk through their door tonight?
He sat down at his desk and opened one of his notebooks. The words floated in front of his eyes without making much sense. Despite his best efforts, he couldn't dive into his studies like before.
Every sentence he read was quickly replaced by a new thought: What is she going to tell me? Has the plot changed? Why is she here?
The young boy let out a resigned sigh and put down his pen. It was useless. He couldn't think about anything other than the upcoming meeting.
By tonight, I'll finally see her. I'll be able to ask her all the questions that have been burning in my mind.
But at the same time, he knew he had to stay calm. Yuki wasn't someone who easily shared her secrets, especially those related to Jujutsu. It was also possible that she wanted to protect her nephew from this dangerous world.
He turned his head toward the window, watching the clouds drift slowly across the sky.
"Come on, focus, Ryosuke," he murmured to himself, shaking his head. It wasn't time to get swept up in all of this just yet. He still had to get through his readings, at least for today.
