Chapter 4 - chapter 4- Meeting Sylvia

" thank you for defending us, we are really sorry if we caused you any trouble"luffy spoke trying to control his tears.

It was good that no one was looking at them anymore, because they also felt Gina's dominance aura and they dared not keep looking at her. And if they saw Luffy cry they would have more reasons to bully him.

"yes thank you, we really appreciate" Kyle said. At first Kyle was suspicious of Gina and he thought that she was planning something, but after seeing her go out of her way to protect them he was convinced that she was a good person and she had no bad intentions.

"no need to thank me, I was just doing what I thought was right" she said while frantically waving her hands.

" but can I ask you a question" she said more seriously "yes go on" Kyle said

" why do you guys not speak up for yourselves, even when you are bullied by your classmates and disrespected by your juniors. I'm sure if you speak up and tell them to stop, or report to a teacher every thing will be solved" Gina said. "its not that simple, even if we tell them to stop they won't listen, and if we report to a teacher it would only do more damage than good, so it's better to just keep quiet, after all we won't stay in this school forever. Both I and Laika have less than a year left, Luffy and Rayna have less than two years, so we can endure" Kyle calmly replied Gina. "oh, ok I understand" Gina said .

After that they all finished their meal. When they were done they stood up returned their plates to the counter and walked out of the cafeteria. "i guess this Is good bye, I have to go back to my class" Gina said when they got out of the cafeteria. They were in second and third year so their classes were in a different building from hers.

"yes good bye, we hope to see you again" Kyle said on behalf of all the others. "yeah me to" she answered after which she turned and walked in the direction of her class building "t..t..thank y..you" she heard a weak voice say. She turned around to see who said that, she saw that it was Laika that spoke.

" you're welcome" she said with a bright smile which made Laika also smile.

The rest of the day went smoothly and School finally came to an end. When the last bell rang, every body picked up their bags ready to go back home. Gina was also ready to go home.

—home... I haven't been home in the last five years— she thought

Her house was not too far from the School, it would take at least 30 minutes of walking, she usually liked talking the bus home but she decided not to take it today. She wanted to walk back home.

While walking back from school she passed by a small park, there were many children who were there some were still wearing their uniforms while some were not. There were also some adults who were at the side watching the children play.

—it has been so long since I've witnessed such a lively scene, children running around and making noise and adults just watching the children play and laugh. I'm so happy that I have another chance to witness this. I guess that saying is true ' you never know the worth of something until you loose it' I never knew how precious my freedom was till I lost it—

She was about walking past the park when she heard a little sobbing, she followed the sound and it led her to a big apple tree. She saw a little girl not more that 5 years old sitting under the tree crying

"oh my, what's wrong little angel, why are you crying" she asked the little girl as she squatted down and Pat the girl's head.

The little girl looked up at her and suddenly hugged her, her sobbing then increased to wails. "shhhh..shhh don't cry" Gina said while patting the little girls back. After some second the wails of the little girl started decreasing and when Gina was sure that the girl was in a stable condition she asked

"angel what is your name" . The little girl unwrapped her arms around Gina

"my name is Sylvia" she said with a little voice

"ok Sylvia can you please tell me why you were crying all by yourself. Are you lost, where are your parents" Gina asked with a mild voice not wanting to make Sylvia cry again " I'm not lost, I just wanted to be on my own" Sylvia said with her head down. " can you please tell me why you were crying" Gina asked further. Sylvia was hesitant but she still told Gina the reason

" my dad, travelled for work a month ago and he told me he would come back today, but this morning he called and said his work will take longer than what he expected so he can't come, he said he won't be coming back for another two weeks" she explained trying not to cry again

"is that the main reason why you are crying"

Call it intuition but Gina could sense that Sylvia was not crying because her father would not come home today

"no, the reason I am crying is that today was my school reopening ceremony and my dad promised me he would be here with me, he is never around to attend my school functions, so my uncle attends in his place. But today was special because I received an award as the best student from the previous term, i wanted him to see me recieveing my first award but..." Sylvia almost started crying just thinking about it

" don't cry dear, if you really feel angry at your dad, you talk to him, tell him you don't like the fact that he never attends your school programs, I'm sure your father loves you, so he'll listen to you." she said while patting Sylvia's back and comforting her.

" really, do you think he'll listen, because I know that he is working hard so that I can live a comfortable life, I don't want him to think I don't appreciate what he is doing for me. Because I love my dad very much" Sylvia said .

—wow, for a child Sylvia is so smart and understanding—

" just tell him, he will also understand your point of view" Gina added. "thank you aunty" Sylvia said as she gave Gina a hug.

" don't call me aunty, you can call me sister Gina" Gina corrected Sylvia "ok aunt.. I mean sister Gina" Sylvia said while giggling.
