Chapter 7 - The Pursuing Shadows

After narrowly escaping Lyrex, Kaelin and Eira found a temporary refuge, behind the shelter of a fallen tree, hidden in the shadows of the dense forest. Their breaths were heavy, from the intensity of the unveiled battle, they rested up before proceeding on their quest. Kaelin broke the silence with urgency "We can't stay here long. Lyrex will track us," he warned, looking towards where they just retreated from. Eira nodded, still catching her breath. "Agreed. But first, we need to decipher the Oracle's message," she replied, her voice steady despite the danger that loomed over them. She was focused and determined, they'd barely escaped, but their mission had to continue. The Oracle's words might be the key to staying ahead of Lyrex and locating the Orb before she did. "These symbols… there's a configuration here," Kaelin murmured, tracing one of the patterns. "It reveals a hidden pattern." Eira leaned over, her eyes scanning the message. "You're right. This isn't just random it's ancient, a language that aligns with the old texts I studied. It points to a location…" She paused, "The Mihos Spires."

Kaelin's pulse quickened. The Mihos Spires were rumored to be a place of immense power, hidden deep within the mountain ranges. If the Oracle's message led them there, then the Orb was closer than they'd ever been. Their conversation was interrupted by the crunch of footsteps in the forest around them. Emerging from the trees, Lyrex's minions advanced, their dark figures blending with the shadows as they surrounded Kaelin and Eira.

Without hesitation, Kaelin called out, summoning the familiar, swirling energy he'd practiced so many times. "Apix, defend us!" he commanded, his voice clear and powerful, Apix was a wind dragon among Kaelin's summons. With a fierce cry, the Beast rose above Kaelin and Eira, its wings generating wind that knocked back the advancing minions. With precision, Kaelin guided Apix coordinating each movement to maximize the creature's attacks. The minions separated, due to the powerful gusts and sharp claws of the Beast. Kaelin increased his eye focus on them, realizing they hadn't anticipated such a force.

"Apix, finish them off!" he commanded. With a final, sweeping motion, the Beast unleashed a gust of wind infused with Kaelin's elemental power, sending the last of the minions scattering.

Kaelin smiled victoriously at Eira, who was tensed happy about the success "We need to leave, now," she urged, Despite their victory, the encounter was a reminder of how closely Lyrex's forces followed them. Staying ahead of her was their only option.

Kaelin and Eira traveled with renewed purpose, pressing forward until the landscape changed, and the towering Mihos Spires loomed before them. The ancient structures were even more imposing than the legends described, jagged spires reaching high into the sky, glistening in the early dawn light with a strange, ethereal glow. The spires seemed to resonate with an ancient energy. Every stone and carving spoke of secrets guarded for centuries.

Moving closer, Eira's sharp eyes caught something at the base of the spire. "There," she whispered, motioning to a hidden entrance carved into the stone. It was almost invisible, camouflaged within the rock's natural lines, but the Oracle's clues had led them right to it.

As they prepared to enter, A scene shift to the lone minion who had survived the battle, slinking away into the shadows. The figure retreated back through the forest, slipping away to deliver a single message to Lyrex, their enemies were heading to the Mihos Spires. The hunt was far from over, and Lyrex's wrath was only beginning to unfold.
