Chapter 26 - Reunion

Kodesh had been searching high and low for his family, leaving no rock unturned. His sheer willpower and determination had finally paid off as he traced his relatives to the imposing temple casting demonic auras. At first he thought it was just one aura but the uncomfortable and seemingly prolonged time he had spent in the eerie temple revealed that there were distinct auras permeating the atmosphere, all sinister and terrifying.

Perhaps what was more terrifying was that earlier he had met a devious girl who seemingly knew all his deepest secrets. The alluring and mysterious girl reminded him of Delilah, the corny girl who double crossed Samson and sold him down the river. So he had to act fast before the girl destroys him together with his plan.

Standing boldly and defiantly in front of the two guards, kodesh revealed his true name. There were now three Oaklanders who knew him but these two were not going to live much longer. Well if things go according to plan.

Unsettled by the confession, the two men's faces darkened, grim and utter bemusement glinting in their eyes. But before the lucidity of their thoughts could process what their ears had just heard, the white glass clutched in the hand of the clone was cutting through the air, its blade shimmering with the lights bobbing in the hallway.

In the next moment, the magical wand glowed orange as the guard was swiftly raising it towards the clone but Kodesh's weighty hand was even swifter, flying through the air like the ghostly arrows of the Orion, crushing the magical wand with Herculean force and shattering it into shards.

In the next fraction of a second, the momentum of the punch continued its horrendous course, breaking his rib cage as blood painted the white marble walls red. His ribs perfolating his internal organs, killing him instantly.

As Kodesh was killing the man, the other guard's wand instantly glowed a shade of baby blue and he brandished it towards Kodesh trying to strike him at point blank. In the next fraction of a second Kodesh swiftly pushed the wand away from his head and an ominous torrent of baby blue ethereal energy explosively blasted from the wand, barely missing Kodesh's head by a whisker. The powerful celestial energy struck the room opposite the room of bondages and melting away the white marble.

Kodesh didn't have the time to glance back to see the melting wall that could've easily been his head or maybe he was petrified in that extremity.

Forcefully pulling the wand towards him with his Samsonian strength, the heavily armored guard was simply dragged towards him like he was part of Kodeshs hand. In the next moment, Kodesh clutched his helmet with his weighty right hand. Immediately he clasped the helmet, blood oozed out it as it succumbed to the overwhelming pressure of the preternatural Herculean strength, crushing his head together with his helmet.

A short yelp rose to pair with the captives's muzzled gasps. They wanted to glean on what was going on outside their room of bondanges but also weary of what they could find. A mixture of puzzled looks and trepidation visible on their faces.

Wiping the blood he squeezed out the man's helmet as he was crushing his skull to a purée, Kodesh took a deep sigh and took a moment to breathe and gather his thoughts. This was the moment he had been impatiently waiting for. There was nothing standing between him and his family now, except for a locked door.

In the next moment, the door unlocked itself thanks to the unbound aspect and he creaked it open. Inside the room, the gasps were now replaced by eerie silence as trepidation coursed through the horde of captives.

Suddenly a handsome boy with copper hair emerged, his face covered with a few specks of blood.

He surely didn't look like a hero so as he made his way inside, the captives's gazes were still fixed on the door, totally ignoring him, thousand questions racing through their minds.

Except for his mother and sister who had not bothered to peep towards him or the door. It seemed they had accepted their fate.

Kodesh's gaze darted towards the far end of the room, were his mother, Judit, and his sister, Phoebe were bound. And as his eyes laid upon them, a flood of tears streamed down his face, drowning him in sorrow as fervent emotions were swirling within him.

Someone in the crowd of captives noticed him and he spoke, "Kodesh."

As soon as that name echoed in Judit's ears, she peeped towards the door and roiling emotions washed over her. In that moment everything else seized to exist. She sprinted up and pelted towards Kodesh but as the chain tightened and held, she unceremoniously plummeted to the floor. That was when she came to her senses that everything else do exist.

Upon seeing her mother fall down, Kodesh rushed towards her side and helped her on her feet, tears still pouring like a flash flood.

Sharing a warm embrace, their hands spread comfortably around each other as ardent emotions buzzed through them. They were buoyant, enraptured and relieved that they had reunited after what seemed like an eternity of horror and foreboding challenges.

"Is it really you?" Judit whimpered, not believing her golden eyes.

"It's me, mom." Kodesh responded as Judit was wiping the tears and spots of blood off his face while examining if it was really him.

Phoebe was uncontrollably sobbing, her eyes red and full of explosive emotions as a flood of memories surged through her mind. She joined in and enfolded them in her delicate arms and the three of them bitterly wept together. They were delighted and elated. A hint of hope glinting in their eyes.

The horde couldn't help but feel deep vicarious joy and compersion for Judit and her children.

They had never thought they would see Kodesh again and the moment was extremely surreal, almost feeling like a dream but they couldn't deny his warm presence.

After a short while of heartfelt reunion, Kodesh touched the chains and they all crumbled to dust and dissipated immediately. And the crowd gasped in disbelief. The colossal chains were not weighing their weight down anymore. They were free at last. Well not yet.

"We need to leave now." He said, his voice silvery and reassuring.

Kodesh had been searching high and low, weeks on end and finally he had rescued them from the rattling iron chains. Now he had to lead them out the city to safety. The wall in the room opposite theirs was destroyed by the blast so it would only be a matter of time until someone gets the hold of the air. The ceremony at the smaller temple was about to conclude too and there was a devious girl out there who knew about his mission so they had to act fast.

Kodesh had experienced a lifetime of change since Judit last saw him, even his voice had grown more pronounced and manly. His demeanor had drastically changed. He was nothing like Judit remembered yet they only had been apart for about two weeks.

Kodesh led the group of captives out the room of bondages. Avoiding a pool of blood and the two corpses sprawling the hallway, the horde followed behind him.

Judit glanced at the mauled man and grimaced, a cold shiver cascading down her spine.

'How many has he killed to get here?'

She was grateful that Kodesh had come to their rescue but as a mother, she couldn't wrap her mind around the fact that her sixteen year old son was now a killer.

'What happened to my son?'

'Is this really Kodesh?'

'Did he get anointed?'

'What kinds of powers does he possess that crush a skull together with its helmet?'

She overloaded herself with questions, each question branching into a thousand veins of more questions but she knew they had to wait. They had to get out of the city before they are discovered.
