"It seems I'll fight tomorrow, and a lucky bastard gets to skip the first round, am I right Achante?"
"Can't always win, can you? Wanna see the matches together?"
Thinking about what to do I looked at Odysseus still starring at me and created a fire message.
"When do you fight?"
Odysseus lifted his index twice.
Oh he's the first today.
"I'll be watching."
"Sure let's go get a good place to see, maybe we can also check the general level."

-Odysseus' POV-
Knowing Dimitris would be watching me filled me with vigor.
Since I came to the Owl's camp, I had to fight with everyone for they each had received orders to keep me in place, so I just showed them what place belongs to whom.
Of course I was tired, but the simple fact that he was here and was eager to see me fight gave me the push I needed.
My first match was against a random guy from Hali's family. And it also was the first match of the day.
They are trying to set the tone, bastards think that just because I became a Demi-god recently I'd be easy prey.
They had forgotten I was a 9th circle mage not long ago and with all the equipment Dimitris had given me there was simply no way I could lose this early.
Considering that if I lose now, Dim will most likely beat me up.
[first match: Odysseus, the Eternal owl - Ponto, the Tides that Shattered the Ground]
My match was announced, it was time to put that half sardine in place.
A young man with red hair and blue eyes, strikingly similar to Hali, approached me, introduced himself and took out a sword.
As I followed suit, I took a stance. It was too early to reveal my cards, I needed to keep my cards hidden.
"You're not going to take out a weapon?"
Ponto asked still being respectful.
"I was raised a mage, don't be offended."
"Oh Hali warned us about a couple of mages, which one are you? The monster or the shadow monster?"
I honestly have no clue, what's up with those nicknames?
"You know what? I never heard her refer to us that way, why don't we find out together?"
"Fun, let's go!"
Ponto jumped into action.
His aura a tumultuous wave fighting to be freed from his sword, but I stayed calm, analysing his movement, his strength and his aura.
I needed to gauge how strong this foe was, so I started with something easy.
Thunderclap.
It really was nothing exceptional, a wind and sound spell that created an unexpected loud sound near my enemy's face, but it seemed more effective than I anticipated.
As my hands met to cast the spell and the sound was produced, Ponto got startled and fell face first to the ground.
"YOU DISGUSTING CHICKEN! YOU DARE DISRESPECT ME LIKE THIS?"
Do all the Tides' children have short temper?
I didn't respond and just sent a few wind blades his way to keep the momentum going.
Ponto jumped back on his feet and slashed at my spell with his aura infused sword.
Little by little he was closing the distance, my wind blades seemingly ineffective and a confident grin stamped on his face. Of course I couldn't win with such basic spells, I just wanted get a feeling for my adversary's strength.
It's lacklustre. This guy has probably lived a sheltered life.
As he was approaching, I prepared various circles on the ground around me, I didn't want to show all my cards, but I still didn't want to drag the fight uselessly. When Ponto finally stepped near me and got ready to strike, I activated my spells.
Sky uppercutter.
Terrifyingly powerful gales shot from the ground sending my enemy flying and I took advantage of the situation sending a few wind blades on his trajectory, but just as my spells were about to make contact with him a water bubble covered his body effectively protecting him.
His descent eased by his aura covered body and the previous victorious grin nowhere to be seen.
"It seems you are the monster. Change of plans then."
He took out another sword to dual wield and started performing an unknown sword art. His aura dangerously invading the entire ground. The previously tumultuous energy was still as the surface of a lake. Every wind blade I casted dissolving as soon as his blades touched it.
"Do you realise you chicken? Your wind element spells are useless now."
"Well this is unfortunate, to randomly have a weapon art effective against my main element… of course Sardines must have luck since they lack brain."
"Bastard, I'll kill you."
There was really no point in answering his provocation so I just got ready to cast my next spell.
Sure, wind would be useless, but what about derivative magic?
Ten circles were ready, just waiting for my Archana to supply energy and finish things up. As he jumped up to cut me with a double downward slash, my spell came to reality.
The face of shock upon realising the magic circles exactly positioned around him was almost funny.
Oh well, chained lightning.
Electric currents shot from my circles effectively hitting my target who simply fell on the ground unconscious.
I waited for the system's message announcing my win and once I received it, I simply left without even sparing a look back, my destination clear.

-Dimitris POV-
So that's how a mage should fight.
Odysseus' strategy was pure perfection, his spell placement and casting unparalleled, it felt like everything was in his control from beginning to end, there was effectively no possibility for his enemy to win.
Sure, he was clearly a rank E warrior, but even I wasn't sure if I could win against such a cunning opponent.
"Fuck, that mage you know is strong."
"The bastard didn't even try, those were all 2nd circle spells at best."
"Damn, the brain of those from the Owl sure is scary…"
"Achante, if you're trying to find an excuse in case you lose…"
"No! I was just stating facts!"
I didn't respond anymore and focused on the second match that was now starting.
Nothing interesting, but it was at least a more balanced match compared to the one Odysseus had just won.
"Can I join you?"
Speak of the devil.
"Sure."
He sat close to me and placing an arm around my shoulder started narrating what had happened in his camp and how he had beaten all of them up because Athena had told everyone he was disrespectful towards her.
"Hahahaha, I did something similar, right Achante?"
Odysseus shot a glare at my half sister demanding a full report, and after hearing how I taught them a lesson he smiled brightly bringing me closer to himself.
The matches continued and soon came to an end, Hali had also won her match same for Andreas. However it was clear who the top pick for the final win was.
The Boar who roars had produced exceptional warriors and a man in particular was extremely dangerous.
His enemy, on the brink of death, was only spared by the system that forced the war maniac to stop.
"Well, that's it. Achante let's go to the camp."
"Wait!"
Odysseus was holding my hand preventing me from leaving, I shot him a confused glare and waited for explanations.
"Will you be able to sleep without me? Should I ask your mother?"
"What the fuck? Of course I'll be able to sleep. Odysseus I swear I'll beat your ass if you keep spitting bullshit."
Achante and I hastily left the coliseum and a smirking Odysseus behind.
Upon reaching the camp, I immediately got hold of the eagle flying in my direction and started my workout.
Today I had spent too much time sitting.
"Achante what's up with our brother?"
Achante thought long before spilling what had happened, but since Dimitris never denied sleeping with Odysseus she thought it was something safe to say.
That night, even after my intense workout, I couldn't sleep a second.

My mood was sour, the lack of sleep paired with the approving nods from my brothers was increasingly angering me.
As soon as we arrived, I was informed by the system on how to reach my waiting area so I left everyone behind to try and get some rest, but my nerves were getting the best of me and I couldn't seem to calm down.
This is going nowhere.
"System is there a way to have some tea or anything to calm me down?"
No answer came to me and I resigned to being in a foul mood the entire day.
Soon, the time of my scheduled match arrived and I made my way to the battlefield.
[match: Dimitris Damocles, The Lightning Bringer - Kryos, The Boar who Roars]
[please begin.]
Wonderful, a pig as my first opponent.
But then again, considering that fifteen of the total 60 participants were from his family, it wasn't completely unexpected.
The bastard clearly didn't care for ceremonies, without introducing himself or asking anything at all, he simply jumped in action. No bullshit, no excuses, sword in hand and aim for the kill.
My enemy's aura was moving along his sword like a chainsaw threatening to cut me in half, but I wouldn't just stand idle waiting for him.
He is kinda slow.
Taking out my new bident, I decided it was time to counter. My Archana started flowing effortlessly all around my body creating crackling lightning and engulfing my spear with energy. I waited for my opponent and when he was finally in range I pushed forward for a stab on the hilt of the sword.
As our weapons made contact, a small explosion took place and my foe took a couple of steps back. The grin on his face widening.
"You are a warrior! Hahahahah!"
The fuck?
It seemed nobody accepted me as a mage and I could more or less understand why, but it didn't mean I was okay with that.

I was sick of everyone trying to put me in a box, not even looking at my magic. Why couldn't I be both? The fantasy world was filled with magic swordsman? Why couldn't I be one?
Everyone was so focused on putting up a label for me that they weren't even trying to understand what I wanted for myself.
Of course I wouldn't want to abandon the spear, but the same was true for magic.
"You know what Kryos? Let me show you what I am."
Fire lilies of destruction.
Small flowers bloomed on the ground everywhere ready to explode at my order and I started changing my breathing.
My heart slowing down, almost stopping.
My emotions locked, my face sullen.
The air around me started to grow cold, while everything was happening I tried to will the water element into forming a thin layer of fog on the ground.
"Were you a mage? But that stab before…"
"I am both and I'm none."
Snap.
The sound of small explosions invaded the arena, and the fog I previously layered on the ground started to scatter everywhere covering the entire grounds with dust and mist.
My presence, already lowered by my technique, completely disappeared.
"Where the fuck are you hiding?! You rat! Where's your pride?!"
Thorny path.
Vines completely covered by thorns started to sprout all around Kryos and I silently started to make my move.
Approaching my enemy, I started to circulate my Archana, I didn't know what effects my Archana could have on my stealth techniques, surely not positive, that's why I used it only at the last possible moment.
As if sensing my movement now that I was actively using magic to strengthen my body, Kryos took a step to his left, only to wince in pain from the thorns stabbing his foot.
"YOU BASTARD! FACE ME WITH HONOUR!"
At that point Kryos started to slash his sword randomly in my direction, trying to force me in a direct confrontation, but alas, it was too late.
From the direction he was slashing I spoke.
"What's the use of honour? Can I use it to pay for food? Will it heal my wounds?"
"YOU DESPICABLE TRASH!"
"Yeah, I thought so."
Flowery disperse.
Appearing right behind my opponent, I jumped with all my strength and kicked his nape with my fully covered in Archana leg.
Kryos was sent flying. A missile launched out of the smog.
I then dispersed all the fog still holding up and watched into his direction.
An unconscious burly man laid on the ground, no signs of waking up.
I walked towards my enemy and waited for the system to announce my win. I didn't wait long.
As my match was confirmed to be finished I looked at Kryos, the man had good potential, but that honour bullshit would kill him uselessly.
Garden of illusory flowers.
With my healing garden tending to my enemy, his regeneration was almost instant.
"What… how did I lose…? Why are you healing me…?"
"Listen buddy. I honestly think you have good potential, but this honour bullshit is going to kill you."
"How dare you defy the honour of a warrior!?"
At his remark I simply slapped his face to oblivion, I was healing him after all.
And slapping him senseless seemed to calm me down.
"Honour this, honour that. Fucking bullshit."
Satisfied with berating the very portant principle of every warrior, and the slapping session, I left the arena under the glares of almost every warrior who got to listen to my mumbling.
That was funny.
