Kara's POV
I woke up feeling better, my head didn't feel as heavy as it was last night. I rolled around in the bed for a few minutes, I was very uncomfortable.
There were too many thoughts running through my head at the moment. After the first year of my engagement to Chad, I lost my joy, my flair, my free going spirit. The man who I thought was an angel had suddenly turned into a monster. He had no regard or respect for me anymore, but yet he claimed he loved me.
There were times I felt that he should just have left me to die instead of giving me his blood and making me his mate.
The pack was all I had, It was only when I was around them that I felt alive. Although we all came from different backgrounds and situations, we were all drawn to each other, ready to do anything for each other.
I rolled to the left side of the bed and faced the window that was covered with a blue silk curtain, my thoughts continued to roam as I remember the first time I felt that joy that I had lost after being engaged to Chad.
It was the day Jason brought Damian into our headquarters. I remember the look of confusion on everyone's face as they wondered why Jason would bring a complete stranger into our pack.
But I felt different, I felt a genuine fire burning in my heart, an immediate feeling in my bones that I wanted him to be mine.
It was a crazy feeling, I knew Werewolves were supernaturally attracted to their mates but this was stronger and strange, because I already had a mate.
Chad had given his blood to me, he was the one the Creator gave to me, or was I wrong?
Did Chad and I just happen by accident? Was I supposed to be with Damian?
My head hurts from all this thinking and I could feel my stomach begin to rumble.
I slowly got up from the bed and made my way to the door.
I stepped out into the hallway, I wanted to speak to the receptionist and ask for something to eat and my clothes, I was ready to go home.
But then I remembered Jesse and Susan, the last time I saw them they were in their rooms and I had just given them some food to eat.
I turned around and made my way down the hallway, hoping I still remembered the room they were in.
As I made my way down the hall, I heard a very familiar voice talking, it was Chad, he seemed to be in a discussion with Dr Amy in the Scan room, I leaned in to hear what he was saying,
"Is everything alright?" Chad asked her
"Yeah, everything is good, there's just a noticeable swelling in the lower part of your abdomen",
"But not to worry, I'll give you something to take care of that", Amy replied.
I could hear Chad getting up from the bed,
"Thank you very much for your help", Chad said to her.
"You're welcome Mr"…. Amy paused as she looked up at him for his name.
"Chad", he quickly replied
"How about I take you out for dinner, to thank you?" Chad asked her
"Oh, thank you Mr Chad, I really appreciate your offer, but I'm married". Amy replied.
"C'mon being married doesn't stop you from going out to dinner, does it?" Chad pressed on.
"It doesn't, but I wouldn't be happy if my husband went out on a dinner with another lady", she said as she packed up the folders from the table and prepared to leave the room,
"C'mon don't be like that", Chad said to her as he pulled her back by her arm,
"I just want to thank you for today", he says as he draws her to him.
"I said I'm fine and I'd really appreciate it if you didn't touch me , Mr Chad". Amy said to him as she tried to stay calm.
I knocked on the door just as she said that to prevent the situation escalating, I have come to expect this kind of behavior from Chad. Even when I was in the hospital for an injury that he had caused, he was still out here flirting with another woman.
As I knocked on the door, Dr Amy quickly responded and made her way to the door, "Oh Kara, why are you in the hallway?" She asked as she stepped out of the room. "I was looking for you", I quickly replied.
"Me? Is everything okay", she asked
"Yeah everything is fine, I'm feeling better, I was looking for the rest of my pack members, Jason, Jesse and Susan?".
"Could you please direct me to their rooms?" I asked as Chad stepped out of the room and left without making eye contact with me.
"Sure I could, this way", Amy replied as we walked down the hall.
"How much of that did you hear?" Amy asked as we walked down the hallway
"Enough", I replied.
"Well thank you for coming to my aid, I didn't know what to do about him?"
"You're welcome, you don't have to worry about it, your husband is a lucky man", I told her as she pointed at room 306.
"Well thank you, but I don't have a husband, I just said that to get him to leave me alone". She replied as we stood in front of the room.
"What about you, are you married?" She asks me as she prepares to leave.
"Yeah, that was my husband you were talking to in the scan room", I say to her as I open the door to see Jesse and Susan. I could see the shame on her face that she felt for me as I walked into the room.
I knew I didn't need to tell her that, but I was done trying to cover up for him. He is a piece of shit and I'm done waiting for him to change.
