After we announced our engagement, the days that followed were hectic. While our close family members congratulated and supported us, the workplace rumor mill had only just begun. News spread swiftly. I could feel the weight of inquisitive, conjectural looks as I moved through the hallways, and whispered discussions seemed to follow me everywhere. Our engagement had obviously caused a stir, and not everyone knew how to interpret it.

Sarah was waiting for me with a folder in her hands when I arrived at my workplace that morning. As I walked up to her, she smiled warmly, but her eyes showed a tinge of anxiety.

As I put my belongings down, I said, "Good morning, Sarah." "Is everything okay?"

After taking a long breath, she said, "Good morning, Olivia." "I just felt that you ought to see this."
