The zombies, for all their newfound powers and intelligence, couldn't imagine leaving Jenna. Even as they developed abilities and evolved into something more, Jenna remained their leader. She was clueless, sure. But she was also kind, in her weird zombie way. She cared for them in a way no one else had—naming them, giving them purpose, and including them in her wild, ridiculous plans.
And so, they followed her. Not just because she had saved them, or because they felt they owed her. But because, in her own strange way, Jenna had created a family. A chaotic, dysfunctional, zombie family.
Lefty groaned softly, nudging Sparky. The other zombies turned to him, sensing that he had something to say—or at least, some zombie equivalent of saying.
"We follow her," Lefty's low growl seemed to say. "Because she gave us something we didn't even know we needed."
The others groaned in agreement. Jenna might not be the smartest, or the strongest, but she was theirs. And they were hers.
