Josuke crashed headfirst into a jagged rock, the impact jolting through his skull as a sharp pain radiated across his head. Blood trickled down his face, mixing with the dirt beneath him. His body crumpled to the ground, struggling to make sense of the blinding pain. Every breath felt strained, and his vision swam in and out of focus. But despite it all, Josuke refused to stay down.
He gritted his teeth, wiping the blood from his forehead with a shaky hand. His body ached with every movement, but he was still standing. His legs wobbled as he slowly forced himself back onto his feet, gripping his black katana tightly. The weight of the blade felt heavy in his hand, but it was a reminder his only reminder that he could still fight.
The devil stood before him, an imposing figure with an aura of darkness radiating from it. Its voice rumbled like thunder, filled with a twisted curiosity.
"What are you? Just what are you?"
Josuke didn't have an answer. Not one that could satisfy this creature, at least. But he didn't need an answer. His focus was simple: survive, fight back, and find a way to win.
With a fierce yell, Josuke launched himself at the devil. His katana cut through the air, flames licking along the blade as he swung with everything he had. The devil effortlessly dodged his strike, stepping aside with unnatural speed. Josuke's next attack was a barrage of fiery slashes, hoping to overwhelm the creature. But the devil barely flinched, batting the attacks away like they were nothing.
Josuke's frustration grew with each failed attempt. His muscles burned, his body screamed for respite, but he refused to give in. The devil remained calm, its grin growing wider as it closed the distance between them. With terrifying speed, the devil grabbed Josuke by the throat and slammed him into the wall. The impact left Josuke gasping for air, stars dancing in his vision as the world seemed to tilt around him.
But the devil's grip loosened just enough for Josuke to catch his breath, and with a grunt, he pushed himself back to his feet. His katana hung loosely in his hand, but he wasn't about to give up now.
With a deep breath, Josuke charged forward again, determined not to make the same mistake twice. His strikes came faster now, desperation fueling each slash. The fire along his blade grew fiercer with every attack, but still, the devil dodged with ease, mocking Josuke's every move.
Then, in a single fluid motion, the devil swatted Josuke's katana from his hand, sending it clattering across the ground. Before Josuke could react, the devil struck. Its claws raked across his chest, sending searing pain through his body. Josuke staggered back, blood dripping from the new wounds, but he refused to collapse.
The devil closed in, its grin widening as it lifted Josuke off the ground with a single, powerful blow. Josuke was hurled through the forest, his body crashing through trees and branches. The impact was bone-shattering, leaving him scattered across the forest floor like a broken doll. He lay there, barely conscious, blood pooling beneath him, his body screaming in agony.
For a moment, Josuke's vision blurred completely, but then, through the haze, he saw his katana lying just within reach. His hand trembled as he reached out, fingers brushing the blade. He needed to get up he had to. His body protested, but he forced himself to move, dragging himself toward the katana.
With great effort, Josuke grabbed the hilt, pulling himself to his feet despite the overwhelming pain. His legs shook with exhaustion, but he refused to stay down. The devil stood over him, its eyes cold and judgmental.
"Is this all you have?" The devil's voice was almost a taunt. "I expected more from you."
Josuke's heart raced, but his will burned brighter than ever. He was hurt. He was broken. But he wasn't done. Not yet.
The devil took a step forward, ready to finish the fight. But Josuke lifted his katana again, his grip steady despite the exhaustion. The battle was far from over. The odds were against him, but his defiance was unwavering.
And so, they clashed again, the flames of Josuke's katana illuminating the darkness of the forest as he fought, not knowing if victory was possible but refusing to stop, no matter the cost.
