Chapter 40 - CHAPTER 40: The overwhelming Gap

In the real world, the battle against the demon continued with relentless intensity. Arthur and Ace were fighting side by side, their weapons flashing as they desperately sought a way to defeat their powerful enemy. Arthur, his sword glowing with determination, thrust it deep into the demon's chest. The impact should have been fatal, but the demon's form flickered, and the wound healed almost instantly.

Ace swung his axe at the demon's neck with all his strength, hoping to sever its head, but the creature dodged with unnatural speed. Blood sprayed out, but just as quickly, the demon's body began to regenerate, the head reattaching itself as though it had never been struck.

Ace's frustration was evident as he wiped the blood from his face. "We've hit its core, haven't we?" he muttered.

Arthur scowled, looking at the demon's healing form. "I thought so. But it seems like it's shifting its core position as we attack."

Lily and Hinata, bruised and battered, were struggling to stay on their feet. Lily had been using her Fullbringer to scan the demon's body, her mind racing as she tried to make sense of the situation.

"It's moving its cores," she explained. "We need to track its movements and hit them at the right moment, or we'll never win."

Hinata, with blood dripping down her face, steadied her aim and fired another shot. The bullet struck, but again, it didn't hit the core. The demon dodged with lightning speed, laughing as it charged toward them.

The team regrouped, battered but resolute. They knew they couldn't afford to waste any more time. The demon's laughter echoed ominously, and it lunged at them with terrifying speed, forcing the team to spring into action once more.

Back in the twisted realm, Josuke faced off against Chaos, his mind racing as he tried to process the overwhelming situation. Chaos had already proven himself to be an incredibly powerful opponent, and the fight was only getting more intense. Every time Josuke made a move, Chaos seemed to be one step ahead, countering with ease.

Chaos grinned as he raised his Fullbringer, a massive black blade that shimmered with dark energy. "Let me show you the true power of this weapon," Chaos said, his voice dripping with confidence. With a casual wave of his hand, he sent a barrage of flame slashes toward Josuke.

Josuke moved quickly, his katana flashing as he deflected some of the strikes, dodged others, but still felt the heat of the flames. Two of the slashes grazed his arm and leg, burning through his clothes. The pain was sharp, but Josuke gritted his teeth and refused to fall back.

Chaos laughed darkly. "You feel that, Josuke? My flames burn hotter than anything you've ever managed. Do you think you can match me?"

Josuke's chest tightened as he realized the vast power gap between them. Chaos's Fullbringer was burning hotter than anything he could produce, and no matter how much he tried, Josuke couldn't close the gap.

"I'm not done yet," Josuke said, determination shining in his eyes. He raised his katana again, focusing on his next move, trying to find a way to push back.

Chaos chuckled, clearly enjoying the challenge. "You want more? Fine, let me show you what this weapon can really do." With a twisted smile, Chaos raised the blade and said, "Extend."

The Fullbringer obeyed, its blade growing at an unnatural speed. Josuke barely had time to react as the massive sword shot toward him. He swung his katana to block, but the sheer size and power of the weapon overwhelmed him. The force of the blow sent Josuke skidding back, his feet digging into the ground as he struggled to hold his ground.

Chaos raised an eyebrow, amused. "Not bad, Josuke. But can you really handle this?" With a snap of his fingers, the Fullbringer's blade grew even larger, easily outgrowing Josuke's body. The weapon, now bigger than a building, descended toward him, and Josuke dropped his katana, barely able to catch hold of the massive sword with both hands.

The pressure from the weapon was unbearable, as if the weight of the entire world was pushing down on him. Josuke's muscles screamed in protest as he tried to hold on, his hands slipping from the hilt as the blade came crashing down.

Chaos watched, his grin widening. "Pathetic," he sneered. "This power was never meant for someone like you."

Josuke struggled to keep his balance, his arms trembling from the strain. But he refused to give up. "I can handle it," he muttered under his breath, trying to keep his grip on the weapon.

Chaos's laughter echoed as he raised his hand again. "Let's see how long you last." With another command, the Fullbringer shattered into millions of pieces, each one a flying shard of dark energy, scattering and shooting toward Josuke with incredible speed.

Josuke's heart pounded as the oncoming barrage of shards rained down on him. He knew he couldn't keep up with the full force of the attack, but he wasn't going to back down without a fight. He had to find a way to survive, to break free from this overwhelming force.

As the shards flew toward him, Josuke braced himself, ready for the storm to hit. His only chance now was to push past the overwhelming power of Chaos and find a way to turn the fight in his favor.
