I was sitting in the back of the car, the soft hum of the engine a soothing background to my thoughts. I couldn't help but smile, imagining the surprise on Magnus's face when I arrived with lunch. He was always so focused on his duties, and I loved being able to care for him in little ways like this.
The driver cleared his throat, breaking me from my daydreams. "Ma'am, something seems to be wrong with the car," he said, his tone uncertain.
I frowned, leaning forward slightly. "What's wrong?"
"I'm not sure," he replied, pulling the car to a halt on the side of the road. "Let me check the engine."
I watched as he stepped out, opening the hood. Steam hissed from the engine, and a strange smell wafted into the car. I rolled down the window, trying to get a better look.
