"I am Ilia, the princess of the Elf Empire," I whispered to myself, the weight of my title pressing on my chest. I once carried that title with pride, but now... it felt like a distant dream. Eventually, I fell in love with a human, against my mother's warnings. Ignoring her wise words, I left our world, abandoning everything to be with him. Earth was so different from my home. Our world, filled with light and magic, felt pure compared to the chaos of the human realm.
At first, I believed humans would be kind, perhaps even like us. But I was wrong. So wrong. They were devils in human skin, their hearts consumed by greed and darkness. And Adam... Adam was my first love.
It's been three years since we last met, three long years since he vanished from my life without a word. I had sacrificed so much for him, endured endless struggles just to be by his side. I fought through the barrier between worlds, endured the harshness of Earth, all because I believed in us. Yet, in the end, he neglected me—left me alone, abandoned in the middle of nowhere, with no explanation.
And now, he's back. But something about him is different, unsettling. I can't tell if he's still human or if he's something else entirely. His eyes seem darker, more intense, like they've seen things I can't even imagine. Who is he now? What has he become?
He never told me much about his past, his family, his true self. I kept my own secrets too, hiding the fact that I'm an elf. But somehow, Adam knows. He knows what I am. How? How did he discover the truth?
A tear slipped down my cheek as my mind raced with fear and uncertainty. I was so worried about my life now, about the choices I had made. What had I given up my world for? And what would happen next?
I was lost in my thoughts, the weight of my worries clouding my mind, when the door creaked open. Adam stepped in, holding a tray of food, his presence instantly filling the room. His eyes softened as he looked at me, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"You look cute, like a baby, as always," he teased, his gaze full of admiration.
I felt a wave of irritation rise in me. "I am not a baby!" I retorted, furiously. The words spilled out before I could stop them. I was an adult—how could he always see me like that?
Adam laughed, the sound low and warm, as he stepped closer. Before I could protest, he leaned in, his weight gently pressing me back against the bed. His face hovered close to mine, his expression playful. "So, you're not a baby, hmm?" His voice dropped into a teasing whisper. "Then I suppose that gives me an opportunity... don't you think?"
My heart skipped a beat, and I felt my ears burning, the tips turning bright red. I must have looked helplessly cute, caught between my embarrassment and my innocence. Adam's smirk grew wider as he leaned down, placing a soft kiss on the tip of my nose. The touch was light, almost affectionate.
Before I could even respond, he stood up, leaving me flustered and confused. Without another word, he placed a small note beside the tray of food.
"Please have breakfast," the note read in Adam's neat handwriting, "and don't forget to take those tablets."
He left the room, the door closing behind him with a quiet click, leaving me alone once more. My heart was still racing, and I couldn't help but stare at the note, wondering what was going on in his mind.
